Saladino needs to play until he proves he's not good. I kinda think he might be good.

 

He showed a lot of what he has to offer last year. He might be a league average SS in the end, mostly due to his defense. I don't think he's a good enough hitter though.

I think at the very least I'm happy that witH Saladino we have a player that can truly play 3 positions well and we feel comfortable can put together an at bat.

Saladino got struck out twice in one at-bat there.

The Sox are dead last in walks with 28 (prior to today's game). The Cubs are first with 70.

At the very least, he's an excellent utility player. Those guys are valuable.

This is wrong. Reaching on dropped third is a .000 for your average and OBP. A hit with a TOOTBLAN is a 1.000 for your average and OBP.

I don't recall Saladino hitting all that well in the minors, so my guess is that he'll be stuck in the utility role. That said, he's very good in that role and would be valuable to any team.

Reaching on an error doesn't raise your OBP either. How long have you been watching baseball?
