When that happens it will be the end of sports as we know it. And one of the hugest tragedies in the history of the universe. Nobody wants to talk about it and i hesitate to even mention it on a message board but these bastards want more and more dead and packed stadiums provide sitting ducks.

You mean like the Boston Marathon bombings?

It's so incredibly sad watching the CNN replay of Anderson Cooper covering this. Crying on the air.

Bless Anderson Cooper. He knows the humanity of this. It's real. They are more than names. They are people! Killed by a maniac with guns!!

Everybody should read this CNN report. The horror of this poor guy who texted his mom n died.

The report ...

For three harrowing hours, as Omar Mateen carried out his rampage inside the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, clubgoers hid in bathrooms, in air-conditioning vents, under tables.

Helpless, trapped, shocked and scared, they texted their loved ones, pleading for help.

One person whose story has really touched peoples' hearts is that of Eddie Jamoldroy Justice.

Justice, a 30-year-old accountant, sought shelter in the bathroom from where he texted his mom:

Mommy I love you

In club they shooting

Trapp in bathroom

Call police

Im gonna die

His mother, Mina Justice, tried to reassure him that she'd called 911 and help was coming:

Calling them now.

U still there?

Answer your phone.

Call me.

Call me.

Justice replied: Call them mommy

Now

Im still in the bathroom

Hes coming

Im going to die

He then went silent. He was among the 49 who didn't make it.

How can any human being stalk people and kill them all? This guy was all over the place. Going into the bathrooms?? f***ing devil.

Seems more like a case of personal "demons" than any type of "terrorist ideology" at play here...

If ISIS really wanted victory over the US, they would target someone/something closely associated with Donald Trump, like one of his buildings/casinos or the Miss Universe/Miss USA pageant. That would actually generate some (I'm not going to call it a "well of") sympathy for him, giving him a much better chance at being elected...which is exactly what someone looking to destablize the US government and provoke it into an all-out war (including ground troops) would do strategically.

ISIS didn't target anyone here. At most this appears to be a self radicalized individual with no direct contact. I think that needs to be made clear.

Some good news this morning, everyone in the hospital is expected to live at this point.

Stupidest thing ever posted on the Internet.

Is there an ignore user setting on this site? I searched the Help section and don't see it.

The FBI had him in its radar. Thus as my President said, he SHOULD NOT have been allowed to buy a gun. Check Obama's comments. He is right.

http://lawnewz.com/opinion/how-orlando-mas...i-threat-radar/

Nothing in Mateen's background prohibited him from legally buying those guns, and the head of the state agency that oversees gun permits in Florida told reporters Monday that the system worked the way it was designed, The News Service of Florida reported.

Mateen applied for a state security guard license, the type that allows the holder to carry a firearm, and he got one, said Adam Putnam, state agriculture commissioner. Mateen was a U.S. citizen, had no criminal record and passed a psychological test.

He was eligible to buy as many guns as he liked because he was not a convicted felon, and was not facing a felony charge or a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. He was not a drug abuser, a fugitive, the subject of a domestic violence injunction, someone who was in the country illegally, someone who had been dishonorably discharged from the military or someone who had been found by a judge to be mentally incompetent.

He had just as much of a right to purchase and own a weapon as you currently do.

Honestly though, based on your posting here, I'm not sure I'd feel safe with you owning a gun either...

NPR had a story yesterday on the shooter's father. He seems a bit nutty and is obsessed with the Afghan/Pakistan border (long-running border dispute, apparently). His political concerns seem to be entirely centered around that border dispute and not religiously motivated, and he believes himself to be the head of some sort of provisional Afghan government.

Nope.

Ok? Lots of people around the world hold s***ty LGBT views, including this guy, but the primary motivation behind his (the father's) politics looks like the Afghan-Pakistan border dispute. That's what he's spent tons of hours broadcasting satellite and now internet shows about, not gay people or being pro-Taliban in general.

NBC news is reporting that his wife new about the attack and tried to talk him out of it.

Just because he didn't have an ISIS membership card doesn't mean it wasn't terrorism. And you say 'at most' as if that makes it less evil.

That "at most" is in reference to the actual ties to ISIL, and you're right that him having any sort of real connection to ISIL or any other group doesn't determine whether it's terrorism. That post was about what sort of threat ISIL and ISIL-organized groups or individuals poses to America, and that this isn't evidence of that sort of threat. As I said earlier in the thread, domestic self-radicalization poses its own threat to be sure, but that sort of context is necessary if people want to have intelligent conversations about what can or should be done. Ranting about the threats of ISIL and Muslim immigrants is a pretty unintelligent response to an attack carried out by a person born and raised in America.

That "franchise" radicalization is a pillar of ISIS though. They use media to basically call out anyone to do these attacks. They are uncoordinated, but that he attributed his attack to them is kind of what makes them a f***ing s***ty group to deal with.

He also attributed his attack to the Boston bombing brothers and a different Islamic group in Syria that's fighting ISIL.

Compare that to the Paris attacks is what I'm saying, not that domestic self-radicalization isn't a problem.

I agree, but they offer glory to young disturbed men in three easy steps (especially in US).

I think he said those things to cover up for his real motive which is self hatred as a gay man.

Yes, especially since the three groups he claimed to support / be affiliated with, are in conflict with each other.

The dad wasn't sensitive enough to what has happened. 50 people massacred! I read today how he had so much ammo that he would shoot people and return to put more bullets in them to make sure they were dead. Horrifying stuff and this dad is talking politics. f*** him. Show some compassion.

Greg, how would your feelings have changed if Walt Disney World had been attacked instead of Pulse?

I'd feel terrible as well. I mean it's going to happen in a sports arena and it's going to be so ugly and the end of sports as we know it. All it would take it gunmen storming each exit and firing away. Thousands dead. We are at war, folks, but we have to be too PC. It's sad when it's a major step just calling it "radical" Islam finally. We are at war. And if the wife knew, she better serve the rest of her days in prison.

Greg, how does being "too PC" have anything to do with this? Please explain.
