Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to Orlando's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Could they use the PTBNL angle? You technically can't trade 1st round picks within 1 year of drafting them either, so you just trade him as a PTBNL. -
2021 World Series Sox vs. Padres

ahh, this seems possible but when someone brought up the dodgers to rebut his analysis on the Padres being the team to beat, Caufield didn't say "ahh you're right." He instead went on to call into question how good the dodgers actually are. -

Yes, I do find it ironic that those who are most critical of Rick and the team (that tweeter and Soxmachine in general), are also people proposing hilariously bad takes like the ones above. -

Gallen was the 17th ranked prospect in the Marlins system last year. He has thrown 116 big league innings and he's been better than many expected, but he likely isn't more highly regarded than Kopech alone. -

There's a lot of people saying it's not a great idea, but they are floating other bad ideas. Here's one for example: This guy would like to trade Kopech, Cease, Stiever and Thompson for Zac Gallen. -

How do you know how good Gavin Lux is going to be? Who says something like that with certainty? He's the #2 prospect in baseball; it's no dumber than all those people saying Robert would suck and be a bust. What leads you to believe that Gavin Lux is going to play 1st base? Last year, Lux didn't play a single play for the Dodgers anywhere but 2nd base. You are somehow saying the Dodgers aren't the team to beat in the NL because they have been good before this year. It's pretty funny. -

Yup, the discussion - which has gathered some steam - revolves around him claiming teams that are trying to win do things like that.... my response is no, they absolutely do not. No team that is coming into a contention window trades from the MLB roster - a young talented player who was a part of the future. All that does is open a hole and put someone else in it. You are supposed to build around these guys by trading MiLB assets and signing FA's. Between southsidehitman or whatever site it was demanding the Sox shop Anderson for a SP, and now SOxmachine stating we should trade an MLB SP for another MLB SP who has 7 years less of control; in doing so, you also need to trade your young arms who could fill that hole once Lynn leaves. These ideas of trading MLB talent while trying to compete are just so irrational. -

I just want to say, good young teams that are coming into their window of contention DO NOT trade from their young core to acquire assets to compete. Any trade involving a MLB staple is not a reasonable trade IMO -

The comment from Josh was that Cease reminds him of 2018 Lopez, so we should trade him for Lynn.... even though Lynn is going to be 34 next year in the last year of his deal. Thanks but no thanks. -
Madrigal to the IL/Delmonico Optioned
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to ShoeLessRob's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If he wasn't "hurt" there's no way Ricky lets him jog to first base on those plays. He's clearly banged up and sore, but it sounds like it's nothing that playing through can cause further damage. -

Yup, this was my thought and I also think he just needs to push through it but there's not a lot of science supporting that yet. -

Yup, sounds like there's nothing diagnosed and he's dealing with general fatigue - possibly exasperated by COVID even though people say "he wasn't reallly sick" - and you need to push through that fatigue to build that muscle base back up. -

Soxmachine said we should trade Cease, Thompson and Stiever for Lance Lynn. 😂 -
2021 World Series Sox vs. Padres
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
So you linked an article that said he would play 2nd base, after I said he'd liked play 2nd base. He won't play short stop because this guy named Corey Seager plays there. Another geezer on the Dodgers you may have overlooked. And yes, Muncy is better than his prospect status was but I have no idea what that has to do with him and Lux; if anything, it makes them even more dissimilar as Lux is an elite prospect. -

Uh no, gavin lux will be a starter and he will play 2nd base everyday; he will not be a utility guy playing all over the field. He is also nothing like Max Muncy. -

The dodgers are better than the padres now and they have MORE young talent than the padres. Hope that clarifies things. I can't wait until your next tatis thread. -

So this was caufield calling the dodgers great apparently. Guy asked if trading Verdugo for betts was a bad move hahaha Let's review. Caufield calls padres the best young team In nl and the future best team in the NL. Someone points out the dodgers. Caufield says they're "weak" in all these places. I point out the dodgrrs arent just old and great but young and great too. Caufield said he never said the dodgers weren't the ones to beat.... So moral of the story is caufield just wanted to bring the padres and tatis up again. -

Yes, someone who will not have even appeared in a game above A ball going into 2021 is going to lead the Rays to a World Series title. What is old about the Dodgers? They have a top tier farm system with an elite MLB product.. No idea where you see them falling off. They literally have no where for Garvin Lux to play currently and you're calling them not deep ha -

Cleveland has the worst offense in baseball. I'd be surprised if they won the division. -

the only thing toxic about soxtalk is the game threads. i've said that many times. it's a bunch of guys critiquing every move because they read a stat once. sox pitching collective output is better than the individual talent of the unit. usually a manager is directing a staff well then. -

What did you see? Explain to me what you saw in Dylan that was different than innings past. VElocity the same. Spin on his off-speed, the same. Nothing said he was tiring. He was as dangerous as he was earlier; he floated a breaking ball - something he had also done earlier in the game. Schwarber didn't miss. that's baseball. the humor of all of this is you constantly saying i defend ricky. I said yesterday he was a HORRIBLE strategic manager. I find it absolutely hilarious that the things SOxtalk complain about the most, are actually the things that you could argue ricky isn't really bad or good at; the pitching staff performance is a better indicator of a pitchers handling than soxtalk posters opinions. sox are overperforming. people are being maximized. that tells me the manager, who knows more about his guys because he actually works with them directly, likely has a better idea than you about things. -

The sox are in the process of trying to build Cease up period. They already got screwed by the shortened season in the year you'd like to get him near 200 IP. Now you want to limit him to 5 innings a start and 80-90 pitches. That's a wasted year of arm strength growth/development imo. -

Darvish has been fantastic; wish Ross treated him like Soxtalk posters want to treat every starter. -

no, because their starters are bad anddddd because no one had time to build up arm strength as usual so guys were throwing fewer innings and pitches. The only way to change that? YUou guessed it... to throw more innings and pitches in a start.
