Lol I noticed that as well and joke about it often. About how he somehow manages to bring the Royals into a lot of discussion that have nothing to do with them.

Yep. Just wait until the off season begins and the big name free agents are being discussed in the media. We're going to see some hilarious posts. " sign ______, who cares, Sox can afford him" and " JR is cheap for not signing _______, JR you bastard!" :P

Last spring that same poster was clamoring to sign Pedro Alvarez and then complained when the Sox had no interest. Funny thing is that no team had interest in signing Alvarez to an MLB deal because he just flat out sucks.

I can't believe half of these fans are in the "well at least we made it this far!" camp

To me, the shine really came off this team. Schwarber, bust. Russell, average. Baez, average bat ++ defense. Lester, the end is nigh. Hendricks, took 4 months to get his velocity back. Playing Happ in CF is a joke. And Bryant didn't play well at all.

You should really realize how young some of these players are before saying some of this stuff especially cause a lot of it isn't true. And if it was, wouldn't you be ecstatic that your team could make it that far with half of your core being like you say they are?

Yeah going to the NLCS three years in a row with one of those years being a World Series win isn't bad at all. No matter how bad the league competition may be.

They got through a young Brewers team and a Nats team that collapsed in Game 5. Pirates, Cards, Brewers have a lot of young talent and room to grow. I don't think this Cubs team ever looked very good. Arrieta's probably gone. Zobrist and Heyward look done. There's a lot more holes then people realize. In many ways they're worryingly close to being an MLB equivalent of the Hawks, where their top 2 mean they have a chance at the playoffs every year but the front office is going to have to do a lot of work to get around aging players and money.

They made the NLCS 3 years in a row sure, but in 2 of those years Bryant and Rizzo looked mediocre in the playoffs. Everything isn't nearly as jolly and fun as some people are making out.

And personally, I'd be furious the way they showed up against the Dodgers, I don't care if they're the best team in baseball. What do they have to take home after this series? A finger wag? Neat.

Zobrist really showing his age and the bullpen weaknesses on the left side were just two key issues.

They’re going to have to overpay for another starter in FA, trade Happ/Russell/Baez/Schwarber or put it off until the trade deadline next year.

2018 is probably their final season not to have to worry (too much) about competition within the NL Central. Have a feeling the Brewers will yo yo back and forth like the Twins the last three years.

With Rizzo, Bryant and Contreras, they have three studs. The problem is the Dodgers are a much better team now (Puig has even found a role), the Cubs’ defense rapidly regressed (Fowler departure and Zobrist showing age, Schwarber/Happ well below average).

Nevertheless, young players like Russell and Almora can quickly put it all together...just a matter of just a few of those guys progressing and making the right decision on who to trade from the Baez/Schwarber/Happ grouping.

And Schwarber could put up some huge numbers in Yankee Stadium with that short RF porch...an overpay by the Yankees might be worth it, because his value right now is so depressed compared to a couple of years ago.

Good to see you around Caulfield, your boy Puig is en fuego!

I just heard on the score that Chris bosio got fired. I guess he's taking the sword for the genius Maddon.

That may be part of it but Maddon's boy Hickey just left the Rays. Don't be surprised if Hickey is the new pitching coach.
