Will happily take the disastrous Kimberly line tonight for the fantasy team.

Crazy...Yelich and Huira homers to chalk it off.

Saladino walked in the middle of all that, he’s like 8/60 on the season but had grand slams Sunday and Monday...talking about role players who will be eligible for free beer for life in Wisconsin.

Huira picked 9th, two spots before Burger at 11th.  Jo Adell, one of the best prospects in baseball now, selected 10th.

I was praying Hiura would slip to 11th in that draft. Best bat in that entire draft imo and I didn’t even care if he had no position defensively.

At least he’s stopped listing out all the salaries of the guys Hahn acquired this offseason over & over again.  I honestly never thought we’d see the end of that.

His next bromide will be how much the Cubs/Sinclair broadcasting are charging everyone for Marquee Network...just the name  alone is annoying.  And how they can raise now payroll to $275-300 million...

The Cubs do have an ace in the hole, though. Because Sinclair is the largest operator of local networks in the country, they could wield significant leverage against any provider that doesn’t want to pay the Cubs’ RSN price: either you carry the Cubs channel at $6 per month in the greater Chicago area, or we cut off your access to your local ABC/FOX/NBC/CBS stations owned by Sinclair. It’s a cudgel Sinclair used before in getting the carriage it wanted for the Tennis Channel after it purchased that network in 2016. (Notably, Sinclair does not currently own any local providers in Chicago – they tried to buy WGN-9 recently, but were blocked – but they do own stations in downstate Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Indiana. Plus, there’s nothing to say they couldn’t leverage stations in other markets if they wanted to be really aggressive.)

Not have it even impact them? For real? It’s DRAMATICALLY impacted them, it’s what we are talking about right now.

What you’re failing to grasp, which no one else has said except you...is the choice doesn’t have to be Cubs or Sox. Once again, the Cubs can be criticized while sill acknowledging the Sox have issues.

What you’re saying is “The Cubs have spent a ton of money, they should be applauded because my team doesn’t spend money.” The counter to that is spending money foolishly shouldn’t be celebrated, which basically without argument Theo has done, and it’s put the Cubs in a difficult situation. They have one of the highest payrolls in baseball and it’s gotten them a .500 record for a majority of the season. The farm system has been neglected and their window seems to be closing. For the 1,000 time, that has nothing to do with the Sox, it’s a general baseball conversation. But because you are SO stuck on Rick Hahn and Jerry Reinsdorf, everything that is discussed with you has to center around those two things.

To be fair they've made the playoffs four straight years (maybe five?) and won a World Series. They now have so much money rolling in it is Yankee like and that's without the expected 30 million a season increase with their new TV Netowrk. They've absolutely made some MAJOR mistakes but it hasn't seemed to stop them. They make a mistake, they somehow overcome them it seems. I think that was Moan's point (could be wrong though)

As far as the Sox? Nice to see a win...more please.

2015-2018=4

But last year felt like a miss because they blew the division lead, lost in Game 163 and lost the Wild Card game.  The opposite of 2008 for the White Sox.

Hasn’t seemed to stop them?  They were supposed to have a dynasty and that seems likely to end in the next couple of years.  Theo has totally fuck this thing up.

You’ll never be able to take their WS Win away from them, nor should you. They deserve a TON of credit, Theo executed a tremendous rebuild.

But, I don’t agree with the “they make a mistake and they seem to overcome them.” As the mistakes have went on, it’s become increasingly difficult for the Cubs to make impact moves. It was the story of the offseason here in Chicago. The only reason they were able to sign Kimbrel was because Zobrist left the team and they had the insurance money to play with. They’ve sat out of multiple free agent negotiations because of the contracts given to Yu, Heyward, Chatwood, etc.

You can add on mishandling the Russell situation, signing Descalso and being in the position where you have to hope and pray some dude named Robel Garcia who played four years in Italy can continue to play over his head...eventually the scouts will catch up to him.

If you're judging any team on being a "Dynasty" in MLB you're doing this wrong. The White Sox winning 1 world series and 3 playoff appearances out of our current rebuilt - that would be an enormous success. In MLB right now there are no Patriots. Even if you do your rebuild well, you also have the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox sitting there. They will win 100 games in some of the seasons when you're peaking and in a 7 game series they will beat you half the time. Did the Astros do something wrong if they don't win the World Series this year (and lose Cole to FA)? No, they rebuilt the roster, brought home a trophy, packed the ballpark for 5 years, and next offseason or two they can figure out how they want to restructure by making an aggressive trade or signing or two.

Even if Whitley flops, they still have Tucker and Alvarez.

Neither of them can pitch a game against the Yankees in the ALCS.

Everything has to go right to win the series. They won game 7 against a great Dodgers team. If that was the only one they win, they aren't a dynasty, and their rebuild was still a complete and utter success.

Yeah I kind of hinted at it during the Tampa series. I said he'll be a bench guy for a playoff team, have a big hit/play and never have to buy a drink in that city again. Maybe, hopefully, it happens here. Engel seems like a different player since being recalled. It remains to be seen if he can keep it up offensively but as a baserunner and defender he can be useful

The AAA hitting coach must have straighten him out.

Sox lose to MIA- gamethread is 9 pages

Sox lose to MIN- 11 pages

Sox lose to MIN- 16 pages

Sox beat the Twins- 6 pages (probably 5 if it wasn't for mindless Cubs arguing)

More activity when the Sox lose. Shocking

To be fair, it was a Saturday night and people have other shit to do.
