WHat pisses me off is that they project Matsui to go to the Mariners! The Mariners don't need any more oriental players! With all the oriental players they have they might as well move to Japan!

I want Matsui.

Why pay $6 or $7 mil for a guy who's not proven at the big league level? Sure he's a pro in Japan, but that doesn't mean much to me.

It's not worth it.

While Suzuki and Matsui have panned out thus far, there have been busts like Shinjo that make me weary of taking a risk this big.

He's still extremely fast! Someone like him I wouldn't doubt would find a way to get on base and terrorize the pitchers

Shinjo is fast too. So is Willie Harris.

Doesn't mean either can terrorize pitchers or get on base.

Milwood would go back to Atlanta, they need the pitching. Phillies have alot of money tied up already. Rangers want Palmeiro gone so Tiexiera can get more playtime. Alot of youngsters on that team with Tiexiera, Nix, Mench, the 3B (his name escapes me for some reason). Alot of the other ones could go any different way.

From what I hear, the GM in Baltimore really wants a superstar, which they havent had since Ripkin. All signs point to Vlad, and I whouldnt be suprised if he shells out more money for a Millwood.

Exactly and people don't realize they are clearing a ton of payroll.

Albert Belle - $13 mil - gone

Scott Erickson - $7 mil - gone

I'm sure there are others who won't be back as well.

That's $20 mil right there, they're gonna be a major player this offseason.

That's why there needs to be a draft process for these international players. It's ridiculous that 90% of MLB teams have absolutely NO SHOT at signing even one of these guys.

That'll never happen. Players won't agree to it in a labor deal.

I just can't see the Yankees getting rid of Johnson. Almost every team has asked about him and the Yankees continue to turn them down. I have a feeling that they would move Bernie before they move Johnson, however, I don't even think it will go that far. GS will get either Pettite or Colon, maybe both, AND either Guerrero, Shieffield, or Castillo, but I don't think they will sign 2 out of the 3. With that said, if Johnson is available I would love to see the Sox go after him. He is a star in the making.

Bt the time Johnson is a superstar, the Yankees could have bought anyone they wanted to play while he was becoming a star, and then buy someone just as good when he was a star. This offseason is going to be a ton of fun.

The guy the Yankees are going to get rid of is Soriano!

I don't see the Sox signing Gordon.  Colon is iffy at best.  No need to sign Robbia Alomar.

i dont see, or frankly want, the Sox to re-sign Gordon, but i think its 60/40 right now we re-sign Colon. As for Alomar, i'd rather give Harris/Miles a shot or make an attempt at signing Castillo.

However, with the Orioles getting Belle and Erickson's contracts off the books, I can see them signing one, if not two major names.

Albert's been off their books for 2 seasons now.

Angelos isn't going to spend squat out there.

Soriano instead of an ageing Williams, NO f***ING WAY.

i dont see them getting rid of either, look at what Bernie has done in the playoffs this year. He still has a year or two left.

i was pretty sure Belle was still being paid by them, if not this year i thought for sure it was last year. Maybe i'm wrong

They pay just less than $2 mil, the rest is paid by the insurance company. This is the last year.

So I shouldn't have said he's "off the books". They are already saving $11mil, and have been since he "retired".

No I know, but I am saying if they did get rid of one of their stars. I think Bernie will move to RF, and Soriano to CF, to make room for Castillo.

You heard it here first. They are thinking about offering Soriano to KC for Carlos Beltran.

Wouldn't surprise me, especially after the way Soriano has played in the World Series.

He strikes out far too much. Plus if they get Beltran, they could sign Luis for 2B, put Beltran in Center, but that still leaves them with no rightfielder. No way Bernie can play RF as suggested earlier in this thread, he's got NO arm.
