• White Sox manager Robin Ventura said the starting rotation will not be rearranged to get Chris Sale one extra start as an attempt to boost his 2014 AL Cy Young candidacy.

"I don't think that last start's going to be the deciding factor," said Ventura of Sale, who leads the AL with his 1.99 ERA. "If it is, his body of work over the course of the year is what it is.

"But I don't see us moving him to a point where we're rushing him just to pitch for that Cy Young thing. He's had a great year and we moved some pieces around that he get an extra day here and there, but we're not going to throw him on short rest just to be able to do that."

The follow up question should have been: Will he start on the 17th, 22nd or 23rd, and the 28th?

He doesn't have to pitch on short rest to get 3 more starts.

Eh, no reason to push him. He did well to come back from the muscle strain and put up a Cy Young caliber season. Let him make a couple more starts and give the other one to bassitt or hell even Noesi or something.

If Carroll has a broken fingernail or whatever, they should just finish it out with Danks, Bassitt, Sale, Quintana, and Noesi.

I really don't care if Sale makes two or three starts, but my point is if they want to give Sale three starts, they can without pitching him on short rest. It didn't seem like Ventura was even aware of that.

Par for the course for Robin.

1 extra start won't matter at this point. Most of the voters already have their minds made up a while ago, and unless Felix bombs in his next 2 starts, their votes will not change. I think it's safe to say that if their ERA differential is less than 0.40, Felix will be your 2014 AL Cy Young winner

They are working with six starters, so yes they are aware that he could go an extra time. The reality is that the last guy on this staff they need to evaluate is Chris Sale, so it is more important to see the others.
