9/18 Tigers @ White Sox, 6:40
Looks to me like we've seen the last of Luis Castillo this year. I actually thought they might bring him into the game tonight out of the bullpen. Wouldn't it of made sense to bring him in tonight? The bullpen pitchers are tired and look burned out. The only reliever we have left for tomorrow is Taylor. By pitching Castillo tonight he could not have done worse than what the other bullpen pitchers did tonight. Plus it would have given them a day of rest.

Losing arguably the heart of this team for the rest of the season would be very bad

Seems he’s in love with the 2 strike high fastball

We have word he's day to day.

No word about Peters yet is definitely bad news.

Fire Chris Getz
I have officially decided that Getz should be fired. His deadline reeks of either stupidity or arrogance and either way it should not be tolerated. How the f*** did we blow a 6 run lead tonight and somehow use 7 pitchers, none of whom were deadline additions. Honestly, it speaks volume to how bad of a job Getz did at the deadline. Chris should be charged with negligence for failing us so epically these last two months.

but how well have they used those resources? Is Hagen Smith really Bannister's fault? Whose fault was using 3.5 rounds of a 5 round draft for Kelley. (finally released in August). Bad development or bad pick?

one thing I do find at least slightly pleasing is how much criticism Getz is getting and will continue to get after the season ends for building one of the worst pitching staff in years, and also throwing 10s of millions of dollars at bad players who actively made your team worse

Teel's game calling needs a lot more scrutiny by the coaching staff, hell just bring back Romo and get rid of Jake Rogers after this tigers series

you don't trade a prospect at his absolute lowest value, Billy had a meh year and was hurt multiple times

Fire Chris Getz
I mean Jerry finally took the training wheels off of the payroll and Chris instantly wrapped his bike around a tree, and then got off of the bike and fell off of a cliff with the Castillo deal.

Amen.

Fire Chris Getz
Given how his season went in Seattle you'd think they would have known something was badly wrong. Getz was around for James Shields, you'd think he'd remember how that went based on what Shields was doing that year for San Diego.

This organization has definitely take some big steps forward this year after the last three seasons. But, at the end of the day, it's still a 2nd rate organization where people who have questionable qualifications get put into key leadership positions. Unfortunately, this isn't going to change until at least when Jerry Reinsdorf is no longer in control of this franchise.

Fire Chris Getz
From the big acquisition to unpitchable in six weeks is impressive. Even if he had put up his Seattle numbers he could have burned some innings. Instead he hides in the dugout for millions of dollars.

It would help if they could actually keep these pitchers healthy and if not, at least get their rehab right so they don't suffer as many "setbacks"...

They’ve used plenty of resources on pitching prospects. The results from Bannister have been very disappointing.

And that's even before we see if Boston Smith can get any success in the majors

That's a big problem. I'm not sure there was much talent to develop. Pitching evaluation that has been less than exemplary; and this weird insistence on goofy deliveries. And no talent signed on the international front.

That was a bad beat down tonight no doubt but the Sox have bounced back all season. I want to see how they respond to this terrible loss.

51-111 pace for nearly 12.5% of the season seems about right 2012 had a 1-8 stretch that killed them 6-13 is less dramatic death by 1000 cuts just not going to reach the 89-95 loss range most had predicted unless they extended the season

When Colson hit that double to clear the bases, after Munes 2 hits yesterday, I thought alright here we go......Sandlin, Murphy, Newcomb and Hudson later and here we are.

Players have some blame but not a lot in my opinion. It's been a long season, they are gassed, played over their heads for months. When Getz f#$%^& up the trade deadline that was the start of the breaking point.

Venable on bullpen usage...
Game time has been moved to 1:10 Chicago time trying to beat the rain.

No one suggests playing him because we owe him a bunch of money. Pitch him because as bad as he's been, several pitchers are now worse. Not pitching him is closer to sunk cost fallacy: if he doesn't pitch, the trade doesn't seem so bad. There's a lot of blame: Getz' terrible deadline, Venable just seems to have no feel at all. And the players.
