What is katie Perry's bootyhole reporting?

Given Teel’s inability to hit lefties, needing a platoon partner was always a strong possibility. It’s too bad Quero forgot how to hit LHP. The catching position went from a strength to a full blown disaster.

Yeah, I don't disagree, but I also don't know if the Sox can count on Teel at C full-time. The injuries this year are REALLY alarming. You might need more of a legit catcher platoon, with Teel also getting time at 1B/DH when Murakami gets a break. If Rutschman doesn't cost too much I'd at least consider it.

I don’t like idea of spending big on a catcher with control. Teel will be back next year and you’re going to want that DH spot for Murakami or Vargas if Roch comes up.

i don’t hate the idea, depending on the cost. Also let’s all hit up some Orioles message boards and absolutely lowball the s%*# out of them.

ESPN Buster Olney: Sox need to trade for a catcher and starting pitcher. No surprise there.
Buster Olney of ESPN, ranks the Sox as the #2 MLB team behind the Cubs, that needs a trade deadline move the most. Nor surprisingly, he refers to a need for a catcher and one starting pitcher. As possible catchers to target, he refers to Kyle Stephenson and Jose Trevino of the Reds or Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torres of the Mets. He refers that Noah Schultz needs an upgrade as fifth starter. Hopefully Getz can pull the trigger on a good catcher. Sox cannot contend well with Quero/Romo duo. IMO.

Detmers was BA’s #8 prospect in the 2020 draft. Didn’t officially pitch that year due to COVID. Went straight to AA in 2021 and dominated before being promoted to AAA and the majors for a brief cup of coffee. Ended up being BA’s #28 overall ranked prospect in 2022. So much better pedigree as a prospect. He strikes out a lot more guys than Quintana and has better velocity & stuff. He lacks the control that peak Quintana had though, although it’s improved a ton this year. Quintana also ate a ton more innings, but Reid is getting better there. They are both lefties but I wouldn’t consider them all that similar. Regarding the price, Quintana was traded right before prospect valuations changed significantly. And candidly, Hahn got very lucky a separate Epstein was willing to give up those pieces. He waited out for an offer for his price to be met after successful Sale & Eaton trades and I’m not sure any other team would have been willing to trade that level of prospect capital. Detmers will certainly cost less just given the current baseball operating environment.

True - it’s a challenge managing development paths of pitchers while also trying to contend. I think one reason they want two starting pitchers is so they can back off potentially derailing Noah. He obviously isn’t there yet and we also know he hasn’t built up to a full starters workload. His last outing was one of his most promising to date but the hook he had shows the complete absence of trust they have in him due to the circumstances your describing.

2 starting pitchers, a reliever, and a catcher / RH bat is the haul some pundants proclaim Getz to be after. Not sure if that’s conjecture or if they have actual intel… but it makes sense. Especially if the majority of that package helps for years beyond this run.

It’s not just fans who have changed expectations and patience has disappeared. If Schultz was doing this last season we all would be chalking it up to first year/development year, keep sending the kid out there for experience. They are getting him as soon as they are any sign of trouble now.

I like the profile more. Groundballer with big stuff. More well-rounded arsenal. Proven success. Same age, same control. Detmers has arguably the best slider in the league, but that's all he's got. His fastball and changeup are some of the worst among starters. If the league figures out the breaking pitches (stop chasing it), his walk rate balloons along with the FIP.

Adding Detmers, along with Holmes, Minter/Weaver, and Stephenson would be huge for this team. Make it happen Getz.

Detmers's slider is an incredible pitch. He's at like 99 on breaking stuff at Baseball Savant because of that pitch. His fastball does not grade out that well though, at least according to them.

Yeah, good call. How would people compare them from a talent perspective?

RIght, I'm saying if Soriano is cheaper I'd be fine with getting him instead.

That was when they had the 2024 White Sox to beat up on. The entire Central was over .500 because of that. Sox went 10-42 against the Central.

Your dislike of Detmers almost feels personal lol. He was rushed to the bigs as a 21 year old, and has had to learn everything at this level. His slider and fastball are both ++ imo and his other 3 pitches are league average at worse. I think he has a great second half of his career. Not quite a wheeler like resurgence post 28, but still think it'll be a top 15ish starter over a 3-5 year period type run.

Fucking ridiculous.

They're both free agents in 2029. I doubt the Angels trade both.

If I could get Soriano for cheaper than Detmers I'd strongly consider it. He'd be a nice 3/4 to slot in. He's got more team control I think though.

The Tigers sold a few years ago at the deadline and somehow did better after and made the playoffs. It's definitely possible, especially with how weak the AL is this year. But they need a lot of bullpen help to make that happen this year.

I don't see how a team 7 under at the end of July has any real hope of competing. They put themselves in a huge hole and would have to have been Red Sox hot to really put themselves back into contention.

The business of baseball is totally different nowadays - teams value prospects much more.
