  2. To learn from his predecessors and stop acquiring old junk near retirement on the cheap and hope it has one last magical season.
  3. Nah man, October sub 50 Temps and rain sucks. A World Series game shouldn’t be affected by weather. A retractable dome would be amazing but I doubt they want to spend that dough. I have no doubt you will get your wish and it will be no dome at all
  4. Well, it was his first time ever on the buy side! What can you realistically expect? Sox On 35thHow can the White Sox fix Luis Castillo?Luis Castillo hasn't gotten off to the start he and the White Sox would've wanted in Chicago. Are there adjustments he can make to fix this?"The White Sox have taken an important first step with a simple change in pitch mix: throw your best pitches more often and your worst pitches less often. By throwing a season-low number of sliders thrown in August, which has been Castillo’s worst pitch, the White Sox have picked off the easy part of this. 5. Seattle has the easiest. Which is how one website had them tying at 82-80 with Mariners holding the tiebreaker.
  6. Today

  7. Who decided to stop throwing the change up: Castillo, the catcher or the bench.? Whoever it was, it was a mistake.
  8. If Jordan is gonna step in for the 2027 season I would like him to step it up a notch and dress like Wizzo from the Bozo show.
  9. He may command a lot of respect, but his roster construction, and in game managing decisions leave a lot to be desired. IMO.
  10. The deadline always demands a premium.
  11. Will is not a Lou Piniella.
  12. Man this is Chicago, not Anchorage. Sure there are some crappy days, but not enough to require a dome. That's just weak sauce. Don't get me wrong, there are nice domes, but open air stadiums are just superior. Man up and act like Chicagoans.
  13. Realistically, does Castillo have ANY value in the off-season? Nobody would take him for free given his contract and his performance.
  14. I definitely think a case could be made that both Castillo and Doyle come cheaper in the off season than at the TDL
  15. Almost a certainty given JR's philosophy on pitchers contracts.
  16. Hey man, I hate the Cubs and PCA seems like a total douche but at some point you have to respect the baseball talent. #39 tonight? Jeebus. It’s crazy to think that the Mets traded him for a couple months of the decaying corpse and expiring free agent Hobby Baez. In a few more years, it might be up there among the worst trades in baseball history.
  17. “He's here to help us and ultimately his job is not to go out there and throw six scoreless innings,” Venable said. “He needs to give us a chance to win. And there's been a couple in which we haven't been able to get there. We have confidence in him. We're going to continue to support him. We're going to continue to work.”
  18. Makes the most sense to me by far. No chance in hell he is in the playoff rotation at this point. Just move him to the pen.
  19. Didn't stop PCA!!! MLB Trade RumorsRays' Owner Eyeing Top 10-15 Payroll In New StadiumCould the Rays have a top 10-15 payroll in the game? Their owner thinks so ... once the new stadium opens. Read more at MLB Trade Rumors.
  20. This. It would definitely be worth the money, and if the 78 couldn’t fit a dome, I would look for a spot that could. But then again, it isn’t my money so that’s easy for me to say.
  21. A few posters here have had positive things to say about (the 7) retractable major league dome stadiums, and in particular The Rogers Centre and T-Mobile Park. I like both of them. Yes, there is a large additional cost, but the billionaire/finance guy/ business guru should have no issue figuring that out. Surely the all-year use of a domed stadium for concerts and other events would eventually pay for it. Instead he dives into this plan to relocate a massive train yard to Rate Field. Insist on the hardest path even though it could be the wrong one. I was disappointed when I did not hear any discussion or consideration of a retractable dome, except here on this forum. Meanwhile, they are sweating at Wrigley Field tonight. Too much rain and heat/humidity this summer/early fall. Dog days.
  22. Castillo definitely would have been thrown on waivers like Robert. Doyle might have as well.
  23. Pen with a rotation of Burke Martin Kay Thorpe Fedde the rest of the way
  24. He’s probably a guy we could have scooped up this month for nothing had he not been traded before the deadline
  25. I keep going back to this — Getz wanted to get a starter with ace potential. He also knew there was no chance in hell under Jerry’s payroll that he would ever be able to sign a true younger ace free agent to a massive deal. So he went for the former ace thinking his staff could fix him on a short term and cheapish deal once he dumped Seranthony in the trade.
  26. They have still made a drastic improvement since last season but realistically, it’s the only reason they are in the playoff hunt right now. Only the AL West is as pathetic.
