  1. Past hour
  2. I still think Joshua checked a lot of punches. Yea he broke Jake’s jaw, but that knockout punch was such a “here it comes, buddy” windup lol
  3. Im not sure what's so embarassing or funny about that quote. As owner, JR should be brought up to speed from his marketing department and GM about the on field and marketing implications involved with signing Murakami. This is something the Sox have never done before. This isnt Ohtani or LA so can anyone truly know how much this signing may mean as to increased revenue from various sources yet ? If it was expected to make that much of a difference why wouldn't someone else outbid the Sox ? Boyer is going to have to earn his money if there are Japanese sponsorships and advertising and season ticket revenue out there from the Murakami signing. This is just what corporations do before an unexpected major transaction since it all happened so quickly.
  4. Doesn’t look like we will be getting a brothers revenge or a rematch for Jake any time soon
  5. The Imai market is moving very slow . Imai made a translated tweet yesterday that supposedly said that he's received 0 formal offers yet . He may not get $130M which seems to be your minimum expected salary. The length of the deal will surely be the determining factor. The starting pitcher market is slow developing and the general feeling among owners is that Cease got too much and some agents may be waiting to see what Imai gets before they finalize any deals for their clients. Owners may be trying to "correct" the SP market prices by keeping Imai years and AAV in the 4/5 years $22-25M range as an unproven arm. Doubt there's much chance the Sox can sneak into the Imai negotiations unless Ishbia truly is involved and I don't trust the 1 rumor that he was called by Getz after the Murakami signing. https://fansided.com/mlb/mlb-rumors-tatsuya-imai-shocker-tigers-bregman-bummer-red-sox-options
  6. I honestly wouldn't mind the Bears spent most of their draft picks on defense in this upcoming draft. Ben Johnson to me can turn chicken s%*# into chicken salad on offense.
  7. Fans and politicians will be pissed if they leave, but it’s the very same folks saying don’t give them a dime though the Bears are asking for money for infrastructure around the stadium. Bears leaving kind of has to happen tbh.
  8. Today
  9. They were interested in Okamoto though. I believe he was #1 priority until Murakami's price somehow got down to what they thought Okamoto's price would be.
  10. Don't know. I thought that was presented as the level of what the Reds were offering, and that Getz was trying to get another player added.
  11. The Sox weren't in the discussions with the other guy either until his price fell to a fraction of expectations, aka the Jerry special.
  12. That's what the Reds reporter either speculated on, or educatedly speculated on. in his first article on this topic. We have never really gotten a clear report of the Reds are offering the following...
  13. I'm not really sure then other than I'd guess it's some circular reporting/bad translations. Either way, cant imagine Sox do anything here despite me believing he was #1 priority coming into the offseason.
  14. Krall just trying to create some leverage. Getz isn't going to get Petty, the OFer and the pick regardless, especially from a low cash flow team that can't afford to write checks to solve problems.
  15. Has that rumor been of whom Getz is looking to acquire or whom the Reds are offering?
  16. Based on what the "insiders" are saying, it sounds like the offers are decently apart. We keep getting reports on what the Sox are asking for, but not as much what Cincy is offering at this point.
  17. NBC Sports is reporting otherwise, per a Yahoo Japan article. Since I can’t read the article, here is what they said: https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/baseball/player-news?playerNewsId=0000019b-6b62-d35e-a1bf-6fe25b5c0000 Here is what MLB Trade Rumors is saying: “Kazuma Okamoto Travels To U.S. For In-Person Meetings With Teams”
  18. Take the walks, never swing outside the zone, that sort of thing. Analytics blueprint. A few effective hackers will help to keep pitchers guessing.
  19. The article just mentions Padres, Pirates and Angels and its taking it from this tweet. He has no meetings set-up per that link yet. The other teams are mentioned seemingly as speculation from an old MLB Trade Rumors article on if they miss out on Bregman (?). https://x.com/i/status/2005298697425633589
  20. 100 percent. The oline improvements are significant and notable. The coaching is noticeable too - but Burden, Loveland, Monagai and Trapilo are also nothing to sneeze at. All of them have been meaningful contributors - two of which (Burden and Loveland) have been top 5 at their respective positions when on the field after adjusting for first few games. Defensively they have had injuries to some key players. JJ is still getting up to speed from a serious injury and Kyler is a very good nickel when healthy - and yes - they missed Edward’s and Edmunds and had some injuries on the line - but this defense is just not very good. It’s real knock I have for Poles is the fact he has made heavy investments in dline - very few have panned out. Hopefully Shamar Turner ends up being a piece and Booker at worse looks like a rotational end. Dexter has flashed at times, but clearly not good enough to be a difference maker.
  21. Oh wait, that's the one of 3 rehabbing arms, right?
  22. Okamoto is in the US this week for final in-person meetings. He has meetings set up with the Blue Jays, Cubs, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Padres, Angels, and Pirates. No mention of the White Sox. https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/b15139f58e9e44f3d810871e2b180ac211726231
  23. It's probably the most tantalizing off-season trade rumor, so everybody keeps publishing teaser articles about teams kicking the tires on him. I'm settling on "Getz really saw Robert as the strongest ceiling of the CF options out there, so kept him for $20M. If somebody wants to suffocate him with prospects, he's all for it, but otherwise, he's got other targets."
  24. Just take guys in the trenches and rebuild from the inside out. The O line is really expensive and will need new blood once the cap problems get bad here in a few years.
