Older guy calling another older guy “grandpa”? Don’t be ageist AND hypocritical at the same time!

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
I fail to see the difference between AH and Hammond if this is the criteria.

When a guy is repeatedly suffering soft tissue injuries it is absolutely fair to wonder if either A, the guy is just fragile (it happens), or if there is something not right in their training, especially if it happens to a lot of different players. In this specific case, you can see his cleat stick in the clay. It's really obvious. Something like that would hurt just about anyone. When your body tries to go one way, and your foot does not, there are a million tendons and ligaments in the foot that can, and do, tear. This is more likey a problem with footing, or cleats being too long, or most likely, just a random... s%*# happens, kind of event.

Calm down, grandpa. I'm not making any assumptions about you. I'm talking to Green Line about using positive hypotheticals, and I'm literally clarifying what SoCal said. Is that clear enough for you?

A year ago, we thought we were set at catcher. Sox had 2 good young catchers. Now one has had a significant deterioration in performance and the other has been hurt (and also has a downturn in performance). Could happen anywhere. Just hope these 2 guys get it together on defense.

I am watching this play in which Teel gets hurt and I'm reading that the problem is Teel got on his knees to block the ball. But I am watching the play and neither knee touches the ground until after his toe has already caught in the dirt. Kratz clearly says the problem is Teel got on his knees to receive the ball. Maybe Kratz meant something different, but Teel did not get on his knees to catch the ball. He was very much on his toes like Kratz prescribes. I think Teel's plan was to basically dive to apply the tag after he went up the line to make his own hop on the throw. Because his foot stuck, there's still something of a dive, but the left knee has to hit the ground right away because that's how the physics work. So anyway, I can't take what Kratz said seriously. Maybe he meant the opposite of what he said. That happens to me sometimes. My gut feeling is he's doing a bunch of these hits every day, didn't really watch the play or forgot what he saw, and he said something incorrect due to being mistaken about what happened. Whose fault is the injury? IDK. I think it's mostly a comedy of errors starting with a random event. Teel pulls a hamstring. This is a thing that happens to people. Some more than others, for sure, and there are some things you can do to reduce (but not eliminate) risk. Given the timing of Teel's hamstring injury, it probably meant that he never got the exact physical preparation for the season that he or the Sox planned for. He reinjures the leg in a different location during the rehab. Again, somewhat flukey but his body was compromised already so it's plausible that there's a bit of a domino effect at play. Research shows that high-level athletes reinjure their lower body at an over 50% rate in the season that they pull a hamstring, not always severely of course. On the most recent play, Teel hurts the other leg in a pretty weird play. I can't draw the line directly from the hammy to this ankle problem, but it wouldn't shock me if the overall condition of his body is just not ideal because of this cycle of rest + recovery, ramp up, peak effort, reinjury, rest, etc. Is Teel injury-prone? IMO, you need at least a couple seasons that involve major injuries before you get there. But the best predictor of future injury is past injury, so I'll certainly be a little worried until I see Teel go for a while without new problems. I think it's funny how much commentary has talked about him bulking up too much when I would have anticipated that the commentary would instead be that it's a cautionary tale about investing in small-bodied catchers. Maybe we don't know much about this stuff.

So you agree with exactly what I said, since you just rephrased it. He was up on his feet, and went down to make the play, just like I said. Why are you still so mad? How many hours a day do you waste mad about my posts? It's insane how much time you put into me. It's almost like...

Doesn't seem like a fit. They'd want a MLB ready player and we ain't giving them Sam, Chase or Braden. Mariners problem is that Cal Raleigh has been fucking awful and Julio was merely good, not elite, and is now hurt again (granted on a fluke play like Teal). Not sure why they'd even be looking to add, they should just let it play out in that awful AL West.

Every time you post this, I'm going to point out that Reinhold wasn't injecting players with a "controversial" substance. He was fired for administering shots when he wasn't authorized to. This was a common practice among trainers in the game, it seems. Then, you're citing almost 20-year-old anecdotes about people who are no longer with the organization. It's silly to talk about the White Sox "historically" in this way. You see, historically, cars didn't exist. It would be ridiculous to then state that cars still don't exist because historically, they didn't. You can "wait and see" all you want. I'd be more interested in hearing about changes in conditioning and medical that have happened in Getz's tenure than tired, 20-year-old grousing from a fired ex-employee. I agree that it seems the White Sox were way behind other teams in these areas. I doubt they're still doing the same things they did 20 years ago because history.

Which quote are you referencing ? Youre not telling me it was medical personel. Never saw you say that. Was any of this used in a court of law on malpractice cases ? Otherwise its useless in building any kind of case. Nameless sources giving irrelevant opinions.

Once again you are absolutely out of your mind, making asinine assumptions about what I'd do. This is at least the third time you've done this and you even apologized once for it in a personal DM. Let me repeat for the last f$%^&*( time, I'd LOVE for the Sox to make the playoffs, three, four, five years in a row. I be THRILLED even if they didn't win s%*# because to me having a winning season and potentially making the post season makes that season a good one. Are we clear now doofus? I'm really getting tired of your nonsense.

This is mostly heresay . You're not talking to medical experts and if the Sox WERE behind who cares now ? Again youre talking about playing shorthanded. Those are roster decisions not medical.

I root for Gonzo like Andrew Vaughn. Go win an MVP but go 0-4 against the Sox. Now Nicky Lopez, I found myself feeling a bit salty about him putting up a .300 BA now that he's off the Sox.- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
I think they will find a way to also grab part of the BNSF section to increase the site dimensions.- Kyle Teel ankle injury
Respectfully I disagree. “Alan Thomas (Author’s Note: Thomas was the Director of Strength and Conditioning) was let go because his son was draft eligible and he was told the Sox no longer wanted to draft sons of members of the organization. Turns out his kid is playing center field for the Diamondbacks. I’m not saying he’d be playing center field for us but he’s good enough to be in the Major Leagues. I don’t know the new guy they brought in, but guys are getting hurt left and right.” (Author’s Note: I had heard Thomas disagreed with the results of the Sox injury study conducted last winter which was never released to the media or public. I was told he felt the Sox issues were only caused by the COVID restrictions. “The Sox play checkers where others teams play chess” when it comes to injury prevention, conditioning, nutrition, sleep schedules is a phrase I had heard mentioned.) “The White Sox playing shorthanded started in 2007 when Jermaine Dye got hurt and Kenny Williams refused to call up Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. Maybe they were cheap, maybe they wanted to protect Herm’s record of keeping guys off the DL.” (Author’s Note: Herm Schneider was the Sox longtime head trainer and for years the Sox were among the league leaders in keeping players healthy.) “Jake Peavy made the comment one time, ‘They have no reservations about playing shorthanded.” “You know about Mike Reinold right? (Author’s Note: Reinold is the White Sox Senior Medical Advisor) He was fired by the Red Sox because he was injecting players with Toradol.” (Author’s Note: Bleacher Report had a story on this situation published in February 2013. Here is the link to that story: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1530943-ex-red-sox-trainer-mike-reinold-injected-players-with-controversial-substance) “Given the inordinate amount of soft-tissue injuries they have had you’d think that they would do a complete change in the training, conditioning and nutritional areas.” Over time if things change regarding this issue with the organization, I'll be happy to change my opinion. That evidence of change in my opinion hasn't happened yet.- Kyle Teel ankle injury
Yea and your buddy said Hahn butchered his development and all of a sudden under, Getz,Bannister, the medical staff and the pitching coach before Bove he blossomed and stayed healthy yea keep talking and pretending the Getz regime had nothing to do with it when Crochet has praised all involved himself. Jesus what else do you need ? Without that trade the Sox were cooked. Crochet meant nothing to the rebuild at that point. That trade had to be made and oh look its working which you fought against it ever working with every minor roster move as if it was the end of the world and here you still are.- Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
Sounds like the Mariners are willing to deal from their starting pitching depth. Hancock being the one discussed in this piece. But they are looking for major league pieces for the offense as you would imagine. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7466628/2026/07/23/mlb-trade-deadline-mariners-cubs-rays/?unlocked_article_code=1.z1A.clQZ.hffSjxHWzQVd&source=athletic_user_shared_gift_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
I still don't see how they get a park in that railroad yard. It's like Al Bundy trying to get a woman's size 8 foot in a size 4 shoe.- Kyle Teel ankle injury
Considering that the full thought was that even if the Sox went to the playoffs multiple years in a row, if they didn't win it all, Liptak would still consider it all a failure, it's a highly appropriate hypothetical. I always find it weird that we can't hypothesize about wild positive things, but it's perfectly fine to hypothesize about catastrophes there is no evidence they can happen.- Kyle Teel ankle injury
I think he was in a position where catching the ball was his 1st priority cant make a tag without the ball and he doesn't have an infielder glove so short hops arent easy. - Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
