  1. Past hour
  2. The only vegetable i've ever seen at Sox park is a grilled onion.
  3. Stone talks about how he only eats meat/steak and is apparently as repulsed by vegetables as a 5 year old kid.
  4. I didn't mind watching Benetti get a little sloppy on occasion. Nothing wrong with that at a baseball game. Plus it provides good contrast from Stone acting like he would light up in flames if he even came in contact with a piece of food in the booth.
  5. Great for Jason. Anything that gets him away from Detroit more often.
  6. Meanwhile, Jerry thinks it’s a negative thing for his sportscasters to get national attention. 🤣
  7. I actually agree....but I couldn't resist
  8. This actually made me burst out laughing. On the topic though, good for him.
  9. Yeah, I didn’t say anything about their payroll. And actually neither did the other guy. I was just making fun of the *checks notes* thing.
  10. Today
  11. Whatever that means... If youre happy with the Sox payroll and think it signals an investment in winning then i can't help.
  12. He'd be doing both since the NBC broadcast if I remember right would be along the lines of the "Game of the Week..." Very few broadcasters today have "exclusive" contracts at that level prohibiting them for working as well for national outlets.
  13. If I had imaginary notes I’d make them much more interesting.
  14. Yeah, now that the Sox have the *checks notes* 4th lowest payroll in baseball after the Murakami signing, they must really be all-in!
  15. Would this mean that he would no longer be the Tigers pbp?
  16. Benetti is god awful at baseball, but I have heard him call some football games and it was pretty enjoyable.
  17. Interesting the Kingsubry move. I guess this is probably 2 fold - clear disconnect - but maybe they also want to get ahead of replacing Kliff if he gets a gig too. With Jayden there - its still an attractive job for an OC trying to make a name for an eventual HC job. But amazing what a year makes for Washington. Reminder that the goal is sustainable success and I want to see us have another strong season next year, including strong draft etc, to show that we really are different...but at this point, I really think Ben is different in terms of the standard he sets and the relentless pursuit of excellence. And I think he breeds that throughout his coaching ranks and throughout the player ranks.
  18. Not saying he isn't good - but I feel like so many are implying he's going to get a DC job...I think the defense is struggling big time...it has mediocre ends (Booker I like and is an ascending player..looks like a roational pass rusher at a minimum). But the interior of the D is very weak - Poles has failed miserably here (Jarrett, Dexter, Pickens, Shemar (injury), and the Colts guy have all been major investments whether draft picks or free agent spend - yet the production and interior penetration is weak. Running defense is bad, gap control is bad, etc. Dexter has flashed from time to time - but he looks more like a rotational piece than anything else. But when your interior is weak and your ends are mediocre - the combo is even worse...combine that with a poor secondary sans Byard (I have been really bummed out on Brisker as he just doesn't look like the player he was before his concussion issues). Not saying he's bad - but he's not flashing a lot - just a solid safety. The DBs are horrendous - whether Gordon/Jaylon/Smith healthy would have changed that is a moot point. Our LB play has been sub-par too. Edmunds was good to above average pre-injury...since than it hasn't been the same. Hopefully its more of he just isn't 100% (but trending in the right direction)...but that is just a soft D. Good thing is - some of those areas could improve with health / offseason...others could be filled / improved with solid draft picks (you can find good LB's in 2nd/3rd/4th rounds).
  19. I would give him more credit (though not the defensive play calling)… getting that many secondary takeaways with a bottom 5 pass rush is impressive
  20. Good for Jason. He deserves it. Hopefully when we get to a new ownership in a few years, the club will stop going out of its way to alienate good employees.
  21. Eh, Schriffen is better. I heard he has a big offer on the table to do play-by-play for Slamball again.
  22. January 6, 1964 – The White Sox revealed their new road uniforms, a bold powder-blue that departed from traditional gray. The South Siders thereby kick-started a road uniform look that lasted for two decades across Major League Baseball. The base powder blue had navy blue accents trimmed in white. January 6, 2005 - Needing catching help, Sox G.M. Ken Williams took a gamble and inked catcher A.J. Pierzynski to a free agent contract. A.J., who had a reputation as a ‘clubhouse cancer’ turned out to be a model teammate and his contributions to the 2005 World Series champs, would be incalculable. Sox announcer Ken “Hawk” Harrelson pitched A.J. to the front office since he knew him for a number of years (both lived in Orlando, Florida) and got the organization to take the chance. Two of the most memorable A.J. moments took place in 2005. The first came on June 18 when he hit an opposite field home run to cap a four run ninth inning as the Sox beat the Dodgers 5-3. The Sox were wearing 1959 replica uniforms for the game. The second and far more important moment, came on October 12, the second game of the A.L.C.S. With the Sox down a game to the Angels and tied in the ninth, Pierzynski struck out then started running to first base as former Sox player Josh Paul, the Angels catcher, rolled the ball back towards the mound thinking the inning was over. A.J. thought the ball hit the dirt and was trapped which required a put out at first base. Umpire Doug Eddings agreed and Pierzynski got the base. The play led to the eventual winning run, evening the best of seven series which the Sox went on to win in five games to get to their first World Series since 1959. Another 'classic' A.J. moment came on May 20, 2006 during a Cubs/Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field. Scoring the first run in an eventual 7-0 Sox win, A.J. got tangled up with catcher Michael Barrett and went back to touch home plate. As he was doing so, he bumped Barrett which resulted in the Cub player losing it and sucker punching him. Four players wound up being ejected in the fight. A.J. would play for the franchise from 2005-2012.
