“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
John Mulaney loves the New York Post! (it starts at 2:40).

Trajekt will save the day. I really think the Sox having one at the park is one reason they have one of the best home records in baseball. It must be extremely helpful to “hit” off the opposing pitcher before the game. Imagine dialing up any specific pitchers most thrown pitch and being able to take 50 swings off that exact pitch before game time. Then our guys can go up during the game and sit on that pitch with a LOT more comfort.

Now this is what you have a chance at achieving.

Absolutely this. I don't see how residents can get this project cancelled and thus killing $700M in federal grants for Amtrak facility upgrades and viaduct repairs and also killing a proposed medical innovation campus for Northwestern. However, if I were them, my ultimate goal would be to extract as many of these kind of concessions as possible. It's not unheard of for companies to agree to these kind of things to mitigate the impacts on the community. In addition to noise abatement, I would seek assurances that there won't be excessive light pollution into the surrounding residential area from the new facility. These are the kind of things developers often agree to. Added greenspace for the area, too. The possible air emissions aren't nothing if we're talking about diesel trains idling for extended periods. Could the idling times be limited somehow?

Do you think Schriff will be back next season?
That's a really professional at-bat there...errrr...post. Please get rid of this over used (rapidly becoming inane) phrase from all baseball/softball broadcasts, stat!

Indeed. Amtrak does have eminent domain power, but those generally cannot be used to seize land belonging to a state government, i.e. Lots C and G. That’s why I mentioned a few comments ago that those lots being owned by the ISFA might slow things down, unless Amtrak plans on purchasing that land outright. To southsider2k5’s point, Amtrak could use those powers if necessary, but eminent domain is generally done as a last-resort. This is also likely why the Ishbia/private equity approach is so attractive to them.

Looking back it wasn't "legal" that was used, my bad. The larger point, besides the one word, is correct. You aren't going to NIMBY away a project that a railroad wants. Maybe you get a concession or two for window dressing, but the larger project WILL happen if groups like Metra, BNSF, Amtrak, etc want it to happen. The law was quite literally written by them, for them. Any anger gymnastics are a waste.

We might need another anti-law/lawyers debate to go along with the ongoing Montgomery Burns vs. Ishbia one...?

Looks like there's a bad cell that comes through in the middle of the game, but once it passes it's clear. So probably a delay then finish.

He's ranked #7 overall for BA. Guys in front of him (in order) are: Jesus Made, Franklin Arias, Leo De Vries, Josue De Paula, Theo Gillen, and Kade Anderson. Emerson is at #13.

Again, I don’t see that. I just searched this topic for “legal” and the only comments I see from the past week are mine and yours from this exchange (outside of another related to the Bears’ stadium, not the Sox’s). I think everyone’s on the same page that this is happening. I don’t mean to be pedantic with this, but I genuinely don’t know what you’re getting at.
