Seranthony Dominguez. Spend whatever of that $20M you have to spend to get him. Very difficult sell to get him here but he can be with a contender mid-season
-
I’d still like a leverage reliever as well, though the market is very picked over.
-
Then there's this guy...
-
Yeah, Bader's '25 could certainly be his dead cat bounce. The guy sure went through the wilderness in the '20s with OPS+ numbers that are lower than my age. Hays isn't a bad place holder and can replace Robert's offensive production just like that. Neither would make me angry on a one year deal. Either would be gone on August 1. They're still rebuilding. They were never going to sign Tucker or Bellinger. Now it's just wait for Braden Montgomery - McLain and Saucke were supposed to be quick movers.
-
Ah there you go. Must have been seeing the wrong thing last night.
-
QO was for $22M and he wasn’t eligible to receive one since he was traded
-
Option, not QO. Big difference as signing him wouldn’t cost the Sox a draft pick.
-
I’d be happy with Bader 2/$20M and Giolito 2/$30M to round out the offseason. Addresses two big holes and doesn’t block anyone in the near term. Both could also be future trade pieces if they perform well.
-
Didn't Bader turn down a $10 million QO? He may regret that.
-
Still some good starters available but the outfielders are less than thrilling. Do Bader and Hays do anything for you, or any other OF? Bader is a bit older and it feels like he will be overpaid due to last season. Hays seems to get injured a lot.

Moncada back to Angels. 1 year/4 million

It's going to be dumpster diving signings -
How much faith do you have in Baldwin's defense?

with hopes if they do OK it will be trade capital. There's probably more Pauleys out there that maybe they can fix and then trade them -

Definitely. They will try to stretch that money into 3 or 4 more players. My guess is one starter, one outfielder, and two relievers, and I don’t even think they will spend all $20 million that was freed up. -

Just keep in mind, with that big $20 million that the White Sox freed up by trading deadweight Luis Robert, this the bin the White Sox will be shopping in to finish off this roster. -
OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, easily the worst OF on paper. That being said, I still really like Baldwin and think he can be a nice player out there with more reps. I think Acuna has a very high ceiling defensively and room for improvement with the bat. If he can find a way to get more loft (which is already working on) and more routinely swing fast I think he could surpass 10 HR’s and that would make him a startable CF (by no means do I think that’s probable, but definitely in realm of possible). I also really like Pereira and think he will be the guy who surprises with more runway. Not a huge Kelenic fan and just feel he’s too much of a head case to radically improve his game at this point. -
Not sure why that gives Hahn a free pass for never having replacement level talent in AAA. He could have gone out and traded for a Tristan Peters or simply signed better AAAA types to minor league deals.
-
Come on, we all have that one hobby we love that we completely suck at, don’t try to get better at, and don’t actively participate in.
-
True, but even with as much as I disliked the return, like @PaleAleSox said, you may have ended up getting nothing for him if he got injured bad enough or with bad enough timing to not be healthy by the trade deadline. We would be wishing for an Acuna then. I guess you can always debate the risk of going with Robert into the season and him being both healthy and performing well by the deadline but that would be a risky bet.
-
These seem contradictory, no?
-
Probably, but I would have liked to see him in this lineup to see if he could increase his value, because clearly he didn’t have much as of now. Oh well.
-
Imagine what his value would be today in the glass arm era.
