Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
This is a guy who could absolutely blow up in a playoff run in a way few RH hitters on our current roster is likely to do. He had a .956 OPS in the ALCS last year.

Magic Number
If we could do other sports it would be Stan Mikita.

We have hope, we got The Pope!
why are the Sox doing a "finance bro" night? is the idea to demolish the stadium that night?

Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
Hes a DH/3B. Would probably platoon. I think he does provide experience and the power numbers are still ok. More importantly, he has a .982 ops at Comiskey. 2 home runs here this year. I think he's likely looking for one final shot at a World Series so putting him in a pennant race will probably entice him.

This reminds me of the Doyle and Castillo moves in that you are partially putting playoff hopes on fixing a guy in a very short period of time. I get why you would avoid him, plus immortal question... Where would he play?

Just so we're on the same page, this is a dude who hit 49 home runs just last season. Yes, he's having a historically subpar season so far but Randal Grichuk he ain't. Sounds like it may be a moot point, though.

Sox acquire Brenton Doyle - trade Adams and Carlos Vielma (SS)
Or the quick look at Doyle is telling them that Doyle is not an option

Sox acquire Brenton Doyle - trade Adams and Carlos Vielma (SS)
He will, but my guess that’s more of a mid season thing if how the rehabs for Adams, Thorpe, Fry (if he alive?), & Berroa (is he alive?) went.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
If Goodell is starting to be this publicly involved, then the NFL brain trust is collectively done with waiting for the Bears. They all know the business viability of both sides and they know which is better, they just need to Bears to pull up their big boy pants and cut a deal and get shovels in the fucking ground

How many times have they settled the stadium issue? Sounds like something else in the news...

I don't really see a fit on the current Sox team. Who doesn't love a bat, but you have to consider that this is not Frank Thomas. He might not hit well in the short time he would be with the team. So thinking about the things you definitely won't get — contributions on defense or on the bases — I don't see the point. Very decent chance that he makes you worse. If Randal Grichuk died, I'd be more open-minded.

...this allowed me to wear my Geoff Blum World Series jersey to the Sox/Astros playoff game in Houston where Astros announcer Geoff Blum threw out the first pitch. One of my greatest ever troll jobs, even complimented by multiple Astros fans. You're welcome. (Let's not talk about the rest of my trip.)

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
from the Crain's article: “There’s no specific timetable from my standpoint, other than we know that they are looking at the alternate groups, Indiana or Arlington Heights,” Goodell told reporters yesterday following an NFL owners meeting in Atlanta. “We want to make sure that Arlington Heights and Illinois have an opportunity, as well as Indiana, to put their best foot forward.” Wait a minute, I thought the Bears said the NFL was pushing them to make a decision by this summer? Am I not remembering that correctly? McCaskey and Warren are so full of s%*# that it's hard to know what's really going on.

I went to school with him. I know his sister. Pretty sure she and Walker were in the same social group.
