Entering tonight's games we still lead the AL in RS. We think we've been slumping, and yea we've had some boom or bust, but really it's been good. Need the pitching and defense to pick it up here. It's easy to criticize a move in retrospect, then generically say, "there's a half dozen guys they could cut before him." No there isn't. They obviously like Joe Rock better. So no, they can't DFA the guy they like better to keep the guy they like worse. That would be colossally stupid. Getz replaced Hays quickly, and Grichuk produced. I really liked the idea of Pereira, but he played about 27 games. Doyle's a better fielder. Wikelman's JAG. Teams like the Brewers get their pockets picked every Rule 5 because they develop way more players than fit on the 40-man.

This one goes out to you, Mr. Bannister. Pitching development has been atrocious. Schultz and Hagen Smith look bad and their stuff looks mediocre. There isn't much legitimate help on the way in the minors either. The Sox will have to sign good starters or trade some of their big time hitting prospects for help.

I'm not a scout, but I thought the same thing while looking at his delivery. It also could have been him having literally no control that lead me to that conclusion. He also went from 95-96 in his first inning to 92-93 on his second inning. He isn't ready for the majors. I'd rather him just work on his stuff in the minors. Schultz and Hagen Smith having apparently mediocre stuff is not something I predicted coming into the season.

I mean Hays is pointless, but yeah it sucks to lose the other two for nothing. That being said, isn't it a sign that the roster was managed pretty well if there's no room on the roster for them? Managed this team into first place.

I really like the idea of Tim Anderson. He seemed like a nice kid, a bit immature, but nice, nonetheless. He was great for the franchise. I liked a bold, mouthy kid as the face of the team. Gave them a swagger. He couldn't exactly walk the walk for an extended period, however. As far as the cheating, do any of us married dudes have any friends that cheat? They don't really remain friends for long. If the wife finds out about them, hoo-boy have I got some 'splainin' to do. "Why are you hanging around with him? Why did you keep this from me?" TA wasn't my friend, but you know what you do to make your marriage work, and I just lost a little respect for him, even though in 35 years of marriage, I think I was in the same zip code of "you wanna come upstairs for a drink?" maybe once, and he dealt with that on a daily basis.
