I hope Campbell is ok- 2026 NFL thread
Lions have suffered some serious injuries in this game. Brian Branch, DJ Wonnum and now the biggest one.. Jack Campbell (and that one he was not moving his legs at all). Prayers to them- 2026 Catch All thread:
Those charges certainly aren’t added on in Chicago, or I’m guessing Illinois in general. And in Chicago, the arrest will generally denote their birthplace, not whether legal or otherwise.- RIP Jerry Koosman
A ly of insiders thought losing him after the 83 season was a huge reason for a dead 84 even though he was technically replaced with Tom Seaver. RIP.- RIP Jerry Koosman
Good career and a veteran leader of the 1983 team. RIP- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
He took a 1970s/80s-era generic baseball stadium design that was intended for suburban Addison and just had it plopped down at 35th & Shields and then made sure there were 3 luxury levels between the lower and upper deck. Looking bad, it's astounding how badly they messed up New Comiskey v1.0. At least they did an admirable job in renovating the place over 20 years ago. But some of the design flaws are baked in and can't be fixed by some more renovations.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
He was definitely closest to Selig at that time... https://www.chicagotribune.com/1995/08/20/reinsdorf-to-blame/ "OK. Since last Aug. 12, the Sox have traded away Jack McDowell’s $5 million salary; failed to re-sign Julio Franco and Darrin Jackson, both of whom had hefty salaries in 1994; declined to pursue any legitimate and therefore costly talent on the free-agent market (compare Cleveland’s rather different approach to the ’95 season); traded away Jim Abbott’s $3 million salary; and tried desperately to trade away Robin Ventura’s $5 million salary." Interesting thing is that he was also quoted in August 1994 as coming off push for a resolution without a cap.- 2026 NFL thread
Echo both of you.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
I believe every step was calculated and planned. I could easy see the owners agreeing that a team owner with a serious chance to win a World Series after such a drought was the perfect front man. The owner with the most to lose had to be the face. Whether he volunteered or was voluntold may never be known.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
I'm guessing you studied psychology.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
Ironic that he stands to make another $600 million having very little now personally to do with these labor negotiations...if they do get that salary cap imposed (eventually).- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
Yeah I agree. I don’t think he was duped whatsoever. He just put his priorities on the table for everyone to see.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
Duped? What makes you think it hasn't been his top goal for decades to break the union? He whines about the baseball pay structure all of the time. Far from duped, I'd bet Jerry volunteered as tribute for this job.- 2026 Catch All thread:
When they are arrested their immigration status is noted, often those charges are added on.- 2026 Catch All thread:
That's been the usual findings here in Texas. Folks are trying to earn some money, send it home, and not draw attention to themselves. They ate also much less likely to report a crime that is committed against them. They are often targeted for that reason.- 2026 Catch All thread:
They’re not, it’s all smoke and mirrors.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
I'm convinced that 94 team would have won the World Series that year. Ironic that JR was the front man for that strike.- 2026 NFL thread
I agree, Jaylon Johnson looks like he has lost a step.- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
JR being duped by the owners into being the frontman for the '94-95 strike should be a studied industry standard like The Hawthorne Studies is to productivity or Pavlov is to classical conditioning. What an idiot.- 2026 Catch All thread:
I assumed he was talking about Chicago since that’s where he’s from. You’re also referencing an article from 2020. In any case, if they are undocumented, how could it even be tracked accurately?- Official NBA 25-26 Thread
They are awful but Wilson is legit and essengue looks like he could be something - has shown a lot of potential on D. Roster is so bad though. I’ll wait a while before I jump to any conclusions on Splitter.- 2026 Catch All thread:
That is what I investigate.- This Day In Sox History 11/1...
Two factoids today: November 1, 1950 - All-time great and career White Sox standout Luke Appling officially announced his retirement after 20 years with the franchise. He was undoubtedly the greatest player in franchise history at the time, boasting a career average of .310 with 2,749 hits. He won two batting titles and in 1936 drove in 128 runs. Later he would manager in the White Sox minor league system and also returned as a coach for the Sox in the 1970 and 1971 seasons. November 1, 2016 - A name change went into effect at the stadium formerly known as U.S. Cellular Field. The Guaranteed Rate mortgage company, based in Chicago, signed a 13-year agreement with the team for naming rights. The stadium would be called Guaranteed Rate Field. The announcement was met with a storm of ridicule by many including the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs who tweeted out negative comments. The downward arrow logo for the company also was met with criticism by many Sox fans who felt that was not an appropriate connection with a baseball team, particularly one who had been struggling for several seasons. According to reports the White Sox asked the company to change the logo’s direction but were refused. There were also reports another company made a better offer to the Sox for naming rights but wanted the stadium name changed back to Comiskey Park which Jerry Reinsdorf, White Sox owner objected to. Currently the name has been changed again to simply The Rate.- 2025 WNBA Thread
LOL @ Angel Reese. Hit the bricks. You are turrible.
