We almost had Tatsuya Imai locked up for about 5 minutes on New Year’s Eve. NorthsideBob has Getzy on speed dial. NEVER FORGET.

Heyman mentions Sox interest in Conforto
WhiteSox2023 replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can’t argue. At least Kelenic has youth on his side. I don’t see Conforto magically getting better or staying healthy. If we aren’t necessarily expecting to make the postseason, see what some outfielders can do that aren’t nearing retirement. -
At this point, I'm ready to roll the dice on a platoon of Pereira and Kelenic/Peters/Harris/Conner/Nishida
-
Good lord, really, you are comparing Billionaire team owners to Christmas presents? It is a ridiculous argument for sure. Team ownership consists of one job. Winning. Yes, I will judge a team as trying to win harder than it's peers as "better". Spending money isn't the only thing by far, but it sure freaking helps.
-
If it’s NorthsideBob, we have confirmed he’s not all that he claims to be.
-
Gotcha…so you dislike market size parity in sports. Unfortunately for everyone else, both are huge problems. And to say a team with significantly more revenue is trying more because they spend more is like saying I’m a better dad because I buy my kids more Christmas gifts than someone with less means. It’s a ridiculous argument that ignores a key underlying element of the broader situation.

So much for getting a haul from them for Quero. Dammit

True, but Conforto is still not the guy you want in that scenario. He hasn’t been good in years and he’s just another year older. We need — “or someone like him that’s younger.” -
Because we should be punishing bad behavior, not someone who is trying.

It will start to get overcrowded with guys who should be in the lineup every day, Beni and the whatever position player additions are made. It already is a bit crowded. -
Realmuto back to Philly for 3/45. Domino’s falling fast.

Who is saying this?
-
It’s been the plan all along supposedly

I will say this…Conforto (or someone like him) makes a lot more sense if you are trading Robert and moving Baldwin to CF. -
Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS

Don't know if this answers your question but this is from the Tribune story I linked to: "Without the bill, the Bears might be on the hook for an annual tax bill of $100 million to $200 million, which would kill the deal, Mayor Tinaglia said. Currently, the Bears and Chicago White Sox pay zero property taxes on their stadiums, because they are publicly owned. The Cubs pay about $3 million a year, and the Bulls and Black Hawks about $6 million annually, according to an analysis by former state Rep. Mark Batinick. The highest property tax bill in the country for a sports stadium is $8 million a year for SoFi Stadium outside Los Angeles. -

He’s always been on Heyman’s payroll. Like some of Jon’s posts look like copy & paste directly from Boras. -
Theoretically you do it to maximize your payroll space in the near term, but I think GMs are starting to see those landmines fast approaching with past mega deals and trying to be smarter about it.

Can y'all imagine having the super emotional victories against Green Bay and having the players look into the camera and yell "IT'S GARY, INDIANA!"

Also, it’s very clear they want to rotate Benintendi much more frequently through the DH spot. Between that and the Quero/Teel situation, I don’t see any room for another DH. And even if there is room, Sosa is arguably the best player than Vientos? I have no idea why we’d be interested in RH DH type at this point.
-
Where do you see we need to trade Robert for financial reasons?
-
Acuna doesn’t do anything for me unless he’s a secondary piece. If my scouts felt Baty could play LF, I’d do that trade in a heartbeat. Not sure the Mets give up four years of Baty for Robert though unless they are super desperate for a CF.
-
Exactly. This new strategy by MLB teams finally makes sense. High AAV and lower years. Teams finally wised up. Why pay a guy $25-$30 million on a 10 year deal until they are well past retirement?

Fully agree. Baldwin and his HR power needs to be a full time OF. Speed and power has always been a great combination . Throw away all your gloves except for 1 and let your speed and some coaching turn you into an above avg. OF. You're drafting enough SS that one of them will fail enough to be a jack of all trades type. Developing a good utility player is not nearly as important as finding a switch hitting power and speed starting OF from the 12th round.
