I don’t think it was a huge deal. Schultz was getting rocked anyway. Honestly that probably saved the first inning from being 6-0 instead of 2-0.

They will probably be early bullpen guys and not get many stressful innings. Wish we had a couple hitters we could bring into the fold

Cantillo hasn't been great. I know he's a lefty but there is a huge gap between what we saw tonight and him.

Pitching him today, he should be on schedule. Good for everyone involved. Fedde is much more effective as a starter then a reliever.

Seems like Fedde will be back in the rotation after this.

Gonna be a long weekend I’m afraid. Sox have to deal with 2nd half Gavin tomorrow, who is on a 5 game double digit K streak. Then another lefty Sunday which means Venable will trot out his God awful LHP lineup.

There should be punishment that is handed down by the FO to Venable. Not sure what it would be, but your job is literally to put your team in the best position for success, and he failed in a huge way, after a 13 inning game the night before. I don’t care that he “owned up” to the mistake. You teach your players to be focused and not make mental errors, Venable’s main job duties are to sit on a bench for 2.5 hours a night. You can’t make that mistake at this level, and their should be repercussions for his actions

They may as well shut him down right now. He is completely ineffective and he is nearing his innings limit anyways. How much do they want to continue to shatter any confidence he has remaining? Ironically, this is where Mason Adams could have helped.

One thing we can agree on, Schultz is not the answer at least not yet. Maybe after playing over their heads for four months reality is creeping in? As others has posted they really didn't go all out to address their holes did they?

Unless they are really banking on one of Thorpe/Smith/Urquidy to step up, it was not a wise decision to just settle for Castillo. They needed a second starter. A better catcher than Bart would have been nice as well but the price was high. I still don’t get the Doyle acquisition when you end up dumping two outfielders to get him.

We have to start relying on our own wins instead of our divisional opponents losing. Nice that we happen to be playing one of them… maybe… May the sprit of Ozzie lead them to a much needed and long overdue winner tomorrow!

It really is amazing that the Indians have only won 4 of the last 15 and are only two games back. Shows how much we have been struggling and how much things would be different if we had been able to kick things into another gear. In one way we’re lucky to still be on the top of the Central… and in another way we should have a 6+ game lead with the pennant already in the bag. I’ll always be an optimist for our team ( to my own detriment )… but yes, all we can hope for is a recovery tomorrow. We’re still in a better position now than ANYONE expected this past winter.
