If he finishes the year with a .921 OPS, does it really matter?

Nope.

And perhaps, from the former manager as well?

I think Walker really liked Ozzie. I think his problem was with KW.

Something I was thinking about today. On MLB Network they were talking about how when Youkilis comes off the DL, he will likely have lost his job to Will Middlebrook and 3B, and the Red Sox will probably try and move Youk. He has got about $10M left on his deal, prorated. I wonder if the Red Sox kicked in like half the contract or so, if Kenny would try and go after Youk.

Or maybe try and get creative and offer a Rios for Youk kind of deal, with the WSox throwing in a big chunk of money.

I always have said Youk disgusts me for some reason, but if he were a White Sox, I would love him. I just don't see how you get anyone to take Alex Rios unless you're throwing in so much money you might as well keep him.

Dumping Rios was just wishful thinking. The only teams who would probably take him would have to be teams with tons of monies, and although the Red Sox have a terrible outfield now, they will get Ellsbury and Crawford back eventually. If Rios was in his final year, it would have been a really good swap IMO, but not with him having 2 years left after this one.

He is also on pace for 233 strikeouts, which would set the record by 10.

Who cares? He just wants the record back from Reynolds. He can have it along with 35+ homers and a .900+ OPS

Kip Wells picked up by Padres.

Trade talk scares me, since our KW is pulling the strings. Any team that initiates trade talk with Kenny is going to ask for Reed.

After this weekend with Humber and Stults, the next five games look like:

M: Danks-Smyly

T: Peavy-Scherzer

W: Floyd-CJ Wilson

R: Humber-Jerome Williams

F: Stults-Samardjia

Without facing Verlander and Weaver next week, it's a schedule that sets up well to get hot. It's an opportunity at least.

Humber and Stults could be flipped. They haven't decided yet.

Outside of Scherzer, all of those pitchers are having a very fine year

Very true. And they're all due to have a bad start. Who knows, maybe Sale will be back in there, and then Danks and Peavy start at Wrigley on Saturday and Sunday. Those better be wins.

Crain to to appear at least once for Charlotte this weekend on rehab and rejoin the team Monday against the Tigers.

Guess Zach Stewart would have to go down.

De Aza is quietly having a decent year. Maybe the Sox finally have that true leadoff center fielder.

He isn't hitting the same avg. as last year but he already has as many walks as last season in 30 less ab's which makes me think he is the real deal. Now if only we could get Viciedo and Beckham going.

That trip to L.A. next week is going suck for our players. No travel days before or after and they come back to Chicago and immediately have a day game.

I wonder if Santiago would be a better candidate right now, so that he can find his off speed stuff. It isn't like we are loaded with lefties or anything.

Uh...if you were expecting last year's De Aza to be the real De Aza, you were expecting a HoF candidate.

Plenty happy with what he's been doing. It'll come down a little but hopefully not a ton. He's a guy who had good stats in the minors and was simply derailed by injury. And said injury just made him lose time. His stats didn't really dip during that.

Well, if they do send Santiago down, you can be sure they'll put him in the Charlotte starting rotation.

Planning to make him the future closer makes no sense with Sale AND Reed holding down that duty.

You might as well see what you have out of him as a starter, since that's the best maximization of his potential for us right now with no fifth starter clearly identified and concerns about how many places (2 or 3) we'll be replacing in that rotation next year.

With Peavy gone, and probably Floyd and who knows what will happen with Humber...maybe to keep things stable for one more year, they'll hold onto Floyd and exercise his option, but does spending almost $10 million on Gavin Floyd for 2013 really bring us any closer to having a contender in 2013 or 2014?

I think he would be at this point in time. If they make him a starter do it now at AAA

So if they do send Stewart down, is Santiago then the long reliever?

Bring Axelrod up to be the long man?

Keep Stewart and send Santiago down to start in AAA?

Lot of permutations.

19,912 Average attendance for 14 home dates, down 2,657 from last season.

Hell, if this team hold close to top in the division in May, maybe the attedance fall won't be as drastic and Sox will have some money to spend.

Looking at the way the teams in the central have been playing, I believe there's a real chance the Sox will be "in it" come July. I certainly don't believe they will be so far out to where they are nothing but sellers. I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade deadline like last year.

Royals series matchups:

Paulino- Floyd

Hochevar- Stults

Duffy- Humber

Sweep these guys. Get a winning streak going.
