  1. It's weird that you feel that viewpoint is under-represented here.
  2. And I thought you were using "competitive" as in competing for first place. A 2 run loss is still "competitive", as in, there was a chance for the losing team to win.
  3. The entire organization has been revamped and restructured. It's pretty dumb to expect a complete rebuild to take "months". But you go ahead. I'm sure you could milk ESPN's Power Ranking for more angst.
  4. Boston, Detroit, Cleveland and the Angels are all at .500 or above, and the first 3 are considered to be "competitive" teams. I don't see where I indicted where I "thought" they were close to competing. Perhaps you could help me out with a reference?
  5. I have no idea what you're going off about, here. We're talking about roster spots.
  6. Full "strength": C - 2 of Lee/Quero/Thaiss/Narvaez (Lee has options, Thaiss doesn't) 1B - Vaughn IF - Sosa/Baldwin/Meidroth/Vargas/Amaya/Drury/Rojas OF - Benintendi/Robert/Tauchman/Taylor/Slater My guess is they eventually go with 6 IF and 4 OF, Amaya being DFAed, and one of Slater/Taylor being cut/traded. They only way to roster Elko is a straight replacement for Vaughn. Vaughn traditionally hits a *little* better in May, and is full throttle in June. If they see any value in Vaughn, they may wait until July 1 to cut bait. If Vaughn continues to OPS at this sub-.500 rate, maybe they consider Elko end of May...?
  7. 8 of their 13 losses have been by 3 runs or less, 3 have been walked-off.
  8. If Slater comes back June 1, you're talking about Drury, Lee, Tauchman, Benintendi, Rojas, and maybe even Colson Montgomery being ready for roster spots. Slater will be in competition with Taylor for backup OF with Drury, Baldwin, Rojas and Vargas all able to play a corner. It's not impossible, but they're going to have a 2 month roster crunch from June 1-August 1 if they don't start making some trades or cutting some OFs.
  9. I don't really consider a listicle ranking to be a "problem". LOL.
  10. And Slater may not even play on this team again, this year. When Benintendi, Tuchman and Drury are back, there's no room to carry 5 dedicated OFs.
  11. after 17 games, 2024 - 36 scored, 91 against, for a -55 run differential 2025 - 54 scored, 68 against, for a -14 RD
  12. I've already laid out my opinion. It's a new regime with new people. They don't have a track record for anybody to vote them "best front office". It would be stupid for anybody to say they're the best front office at this time. I'm not sure what "puff pieces" you're talking about.
  13. Wow, those are teams with some numbers next to them. LOL. The White Sox must be doing pretty good if you need a silly listicle to take victory laps over.
  14. Ironic, like a result that was the direct opposite of that which was intended, almost as if to mock?
  15. Lance Lynn doesn't have a front office executive's view of the White Sox front office. He has more of an ex-employee's. And with the turnover still happening this off-season, there's nothing for other executives to "see". I would imagine they're reserving their judgement until they see any kind of track record to judge, be it in development, trades, scouting, contract extensions, drafting, whatever. Getz had one TDL, one draft, and 1.5 off-seasons.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we're rubbing elbows with baseball executives from 29 other front offices, here. Is somebody brow-beating the GM from the Giants to believe in the White Sox rebuild as they're taking a survey?
  17. Ex-players aren't working in other front offices. Correct, the rest of baseball is probably waiting to see how Getz's changes result in a well-run organization that deserves notice.
  18. I don't think SSHM is coming back. There's a lot more straight-forward baseball talk at SoxMachine.
  19. If Anderson and Wilson were outright released, they would be signed. I'm not sure what you're getting at, really. You try so hard.
  20. Forget it, he's rolling...
  21. Oh, *that* got your attention? LOL. It's like all the experts here were talking tough that there was no way they would accept a package for Cease with Connor Norby or Joey Ortiz. They weren't the perfect combination of perfect for Cease, and if they were GM's they would slam down the phone in a special way that would frighten opposing GMs into relenting on their top prospects. Getz procured 2 of Boston's top 5 prospects, and you have bellyached they didn't get another one, preferably one of the 3 who are top 11 in the game.
  22. You're making a silly defense of a silly meme. Depending on the player, if they're DFAed at the right time, the other 29 teams are dealing with roster issues, and don't have the luxury of taking on a project. If nobody is sure whether a pitcher is healthy, I wouldn't say that player has "no value" (where do you come up with this stuff?). Very few teams are at the sweet spot where they have a roster gap and can afford to risk a roster spot on somebody to get a full picture of their health situation.
  23. No. They've all just started. How do you rate a team on international development when they just replaced the whole department? Everything doesn't have to be a devastating negative. And really, only about 11 teams got votes to be listed. More than half of baseball teams are seen as not having good front offices.
  24. So, every time a player clears waivers, a GM should be fired? LOL.
