  1. Ironic, like a result that was the direct opposite of that which was intended, almost as if to mock?
  2. Lance Lynn doesn't have a front office executive's view of the White Sox front office. He has more of an ex-employee's. And with the turnover still happening this off-season, there's nothing for other executives to "see". I would imagine they're reserving their judgement until they see any kind of track record to judge, be it in development, trades, scouting, contract extensions, drafting, whatever. Getz had one TDL, one draft, and 1.5 off-seasons.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we're rubbing elbows with baseball executives from 29 other front offices, here. Is somebody brow-beating the GM from the Giants to believe in the White Sox rebuild as they're taking a survey?
  4. Ex-players aren't working in other front offices. Correct, the rest of baseball is probably waiting to see how Getz's changes result in a well-run organization that deserves notice.
  5. I don't think SSHM is coming back. There's a lot more straight-forward baseball talk at SoxMachine.
  6. If Anderson and Wilson were outright released, they would be signed. I'm not sure what you're getting at, really. You try so hard.
  7. Forget it, he's rolling...
  8. Oh, *that* got your attention? LOL. It's like all the experts here were talking tough that there was no way they would accept a package for Cease with Connor Norby or Joey Ortiz. They weren't the perfect combination of perfect for Cease, and if they were GM's they would slam down the phone in a special way that would frighten opposing GMs into relenting on their top prospects. Getz procured 2 of Boston's top 5 prospects, and you have bellyached they didn't get another one, preferably one of the 3 who are top 11 in the game.
  9. You're making a silly defense of a silly meme. Depending on the player, if they're DFAed at the right time, the other 29 teams are dealing with roster issues, and don't have the luxury of taking on a project. If nobody is sure whether a pitcher is healthy, I wouldn't say that player has "no value" (where do you come up with this stuff?). Very few teams are at the sweet spot where they have a roster gap and can afford to risk a roster spot on somebody to get a full picture of their health situation.
  10. No. They've all just started. How do you rate a team on international development when they just replaced the whole department? Everything doesn't have to be a devastating negative. And really, only about 11 teams got votes to be listed. More than half of baseball teams are seen as not having good front offices.
  11. So, every time a player clears waivers, a GM should be fired? LOL.
  12. I'm so unsurprised that I can predict the over-reactions.
  13. Yes, there would be some of that. It would be drowned out by kvetching over Chris Getz failing because Robert was "only" hitting .250, and how Chris Getz would fail if he didn't get 3 top 30 prospects from the receiving team.
  14. Technically, it wasn't the worst. The '62 Mets had a worse winning percentage.
  15. Yes we would. Do you not read the comments, here?
  16. Yes, it is. You should rewatch Bull Durham. Just one more hit a week is the difference between a .250 hitter to a .300 hitter. One Texas-leaguer. One beat out infield single. One short hop, ball off the pitcher's leg, one ball in the lights. Fifty points.
  17. His "Hall-of-Fame" is his point.
  18. I wouldn't expect an organization that just tore up the floor boards and embarked on a rebuild to receive any votes for "best front office". It's going to take a while for Getz & Co. to settle in and develop a reputation.
  19. Andy Barkett? Chris Getz cleaned house at the end of the 2023 season.
  20. Well, a string on April 15 about a minor leaguer who has played 3 games winning ROY is fanciful, in itself. My comment was not that Meidroth is Superman, but that he would have to play great defense and maintain for most of the year in a fallow year for prospects in order to get close. 2025 looks like the Red Sox and Yankees are rolling out their top prospects, and the year is too long for a glorified Nick Madrigal to BB his way to an award.
  21. Last year's ROY went to Luis Gil and his pretty pedestrian 3.0 bWAR. If the AL has a bunch of above-average players, and Meidroth somehow breaks through with a 5.5 bWAR season, yeah, I could see him getting votes, but if a guy like Shane Smith dominates (or some top rated prospect), he could put that up and win going away.
  22. And you want a team made up of 26 guys like that. LOL.
  23. Once again...who cares? Hahn did get his team to back to back playoff appearances. Is that somehow ... beneath you...? LOL.
  24. Getz has already done better on the secondary trades and Rule 5 than the collected works of Hahn. I believe Hahn grabbed Adrian Nieto, an A-ball catcher, and they really tried to "hide" him on the bench. He couldn't catch Sale. All the bullpen arms acquired for Melky and such, William Bergolla has more prospect than any of Hahn's scraps.
