  1. I tried to not go nuts and pick everybody, so I just went with the guys I was pretty sure would be moved. I think Sheets can certainly upgrade 1B for a half dozen teams with viable playoff hopes, but he wouldn't be that big a step up to send a prospect for. He could be a throw-in. I could see someone buying into Vaughn's recent hot streak as this being the guy he actually is. As a first rounder, he is a known entity, and his development either fits into what teams thought he could be, or could be fixed. From April 17 forward, Nicky Lopez' slash line is .268/.318/.322. That's a serviceable utility infielder. While I don't see anybody spending any prospect capital for that, like Sheets, he could be a throw-in as a lefty bench bat who slugs much better against righties. I agree on the minor leaguers, too. Everybody's got a guy in their system another team just missed taking in the 8th round, or whatever, and could sweeten a deal to loosen up that last prospect.
  2. Not counting guys they'll acquire at this year's TDL, Sosa, Baldwin and Ramos can all fit in the infield next year. I think Elko's a way off, but if they move Vaughn and Sheets, 1B is his to lose. Julks/DeLoach platoon in LF, and Fletcher/Colas can share CF/RF. Perhaps a trade piece is ready to take CF. Benny can DH, platoon with the UI and 5th OF. There's lots of room on the 2025 White Sox.
  3. I think Flexen works as a swing-man for a team on the cusp. Somebody dealing with injuries. He can cover a few times through the rotation, then be an effective long man. He's worth somebody's AA arm that has to be rostered this winter.
  4. Okay, this is the funniest thing I've seen on the internet, today.
  5. Benny's basically in a platoon with Julks. Julks should play more. Maybe go towards more of a 50/50 with Julks and Benny after the TDL if nobody bites. If Sheets isn't traded, I could see them going towards more of a 50/50 between sheets and Eloy. I doubt they DFA him. I could see it being a courtesy to Eloy and Yoan, giving them a showcase to show the FA market they're playable.
  6. Was he injured this season? He's on track for a 4 bWAR year. We should all be so injured. My conspiracy theory is that KW/Hahn made a deal to sign him for the Padres because they were over their allotment for the year. They then went through the motions of returning him to the Padres for Shields. The alternative is just way too stupid, even for the worst Hahn truthers.
  7. That was such a great movie. They did a 2nd made-for-TV movie - a follow up - The Night Strangler, set in Seattle. That triggered an order for a TV show. I think McGavin got tired of it, in that it really got away from the original vibe. They only did one season.
  8. DFAing Benny is the best outcome. But if JR doesn't want to pay another player, even the minimum, while he pays a LFer to play for someone else, then just DH him during what will be another losing season. If he could get back to what he was with the Yankees with a little bit more of this year's power, that's less painful to pay $17m for than what we're getting now. Stop the defensive bleeding, somehow.
  9. Benintendi is going to be packaged with Robert, then Reinsdorf is going to plant microchips in all White sox fans. Then he's moving the team to Nashville, and will force us to buy season ticket packages for games 500 miles away. People are making up BS to be mad about.
  10. David Wells was probably the biggest public a-hole who played on the White Sox in my lifetime. So to answer your query, David Wells was the player closest to being black that was the biggest a-hole, and pretty roundly hated when he criticized Big Frank for not playing hurt, turned out to be very wrong, then couldn't play through his own injury.
  11. I picked bare minimum. Crochet, Brebbia, Fedde, Banks, Pham, DeJong. I forgot to select Kopech. I think Sheets and Soroka are possible. Robert, slim.
  12. Even if you did have faith, he's on the same timeline as Crochet, who "won't be around by the time we're competitive". Thames' work could finally be sinking in, or Vaughn is getting comfortable with any off-season changes to his swing. Hell, Lenyn Sosa can give you what Vaughn has at 1B, and probably fields the position better.
  13. Mr. Feinsand has Andrew Vaughn drawing interest.
  14. Don't you think it's a bit early to call Ramos a complete bust? Colas will get his at-bats in August and September.
  15. 1) There was talk of moving Moncada around when Bryan Ramos was up and hitting. Now, I'd guess Sosa moves to 2b, and Mendick's the odd man out. 2) Either that, or they pair Benintendi up with a lower level arm somebody covets, eat some money, an get a bullpen arm in return.
  16. I would think, at the very least, Pham, DeJong and Fedde are gone. That's a spot in the IF, OF and rotation to play with.
  17. I messed up quoting you for the notification. People are using the phrase "start his clock" but Monty's clock is going to be started regardless of whether it's in September or December. If he's brought up in September, they'll just have to hold him back next year, starting him out in AAA just to make sure he doesn't burn a full year of control before 2026.
  18. 6 years of control is 6 full seasons. He has to be added to the 40-man this winter, anyway. If he's added in September and brought up to the parent club through the end of the season, he still has 6 full seasons of control, and 3 options. If Monty is put on the 40-man this winter, he still has 6 years of control and 3 options. The only difference is the number of days he's on the major league roster this season, they would have to hold him in AAA longer than that amount of time to maintain 6 full years of control after the 2025 season.
  19. I think he's going to wear lots of different uniforms before it's over.
  20. I thought imply was what the speaker does to suggest an unstated truth or logical consequence.
  21. I honestly thought Monty would have relegated him to the bench or off the roster by now. That's why they play the games.
  22. Colson Montgomery has to be added to the 40-man this winter. If he was added in late August and brought up for a September cup of coffee, he wouldn't burn an option, and the 30-40 days service time would not really dent his 6 years of control. If he made the parent club any time after May, 2025, they still have a full 6 years after that. Brooks Baldwin doesn't need to be added until the winter of 2025-26.
  23. My very uneducated guess was that he was injured in college, and never fully recovered until forced to with TJS.
