Considering system rankings, MLB Pipeline had the White Sox ranked 6th, preseason. Fangraphs had us 8th, BA 4th. Bleacher Report had the Sox 3rd. Keith Law had us 12th.

It's weird how we look at billionaires who have made their fortunes on OPM, but suddenly they have "learned their lesson", and will never find a way to make money flow again. Ishbia doesn't want to take over in 2030, or whenever, and relive the 2024 season. Rich businessmen have ways of developing new revenue streams.

But for this season, Sosa and Vargas need to get ABs. It doesn't matter if their bat doesn't play at 1B. Nobody's bat plays at 1B, but you have to have a guy stand by 1B when you're on defense, so one of them should be there. I wouldn't necessarily declare that Sosa isn't in our future. If he can hit 20+ HR, he's playable. 30+ would be nice, maybe he'll beef up and get there.

Baldwin does a bit better against RHP than LHP. I could see Venable wanting to win a ballgame. But Venable has also talked recently about Brooks keeping his head in the game. Or maybe BB's ribcage was tightening up. Or he was in the bathroom.

Sure, I'll buy this. They ended up cleaning house halfway through that season, and we're not tapping into Arizona's cache based on Barfield's word any more, so maybe they've moved on. The Bummer trade was quantity for a guy who sucked (at the time). Mena - Fletcher - looked promising. It wasn't. I hope somebody starts a thread about lottery tickets that didn't win. I will so rule in that thread!!
