Well, he was a starting pitcher who struck out 6 per 9 IP. Not really sexy. Yes, they probably should have started converting him to the bullpen before his 5th season in the system. He's invested 11 years to make about 2 years of that low salary.

The season's over in 4 months. This is his age 24 season. At Birmingham, he'd be about half a year younger than the average pitcher in AA. He's age appropriate for AA. Also, he was only drafted last year. Fast mover.
