  1. I called him a AAAA utility infielder. I'd love for him to battle Ramos/Gonzalez/Baldwin/Monty for a spot on the infield next year and going forward. He seems to be acclimating.
  2. I was wondering why Schriffen didn't do a tortoise call, or an elephant call when Maldy ran the bases for his HR. That would have been cool.
  3. Well, he was a starting pitcher who struck out 6 per 9 IP. Not really sexy. Yes, they probably should have started converting him to the bullpen before his 5th season in the system. He's invested 11 years to make about 2 years of that low salary.
  4. Cristian Mena - 1st 4 batters, 4 runs. He had a clean 2nd, walked a couple in the third. Jake McCarthy nailed Freddie Freeman trying to tag on a lineout. 4 hits, 3 walks in 3 innings. Welcome to the show, kid.
  5. Maybe some team wants a FO dude who will barrel into the war room and order scouts to draft his favorite college DH at #3.
  6. That struck me upon reading it. No love lost, I guess. Getz probably was in Jerry's ear for a while.
  7. Or, keep him as a closer, let other teams think they can fix him, then trade him as a power arm. They've made about three runs at making him a starter. He's a head case.
  8. Where is this whole podcast? It cuts off after mentioning Baltimore's call about Crochet, said, "let's talk about Garret Crochet", then there's nothing else on Twitter talking about Garret Crochet.
  9. Maldonato starting today. I wonder if Korey Lee got hurt yesterday.
  10. Oh sure. Like jogging back to the wall putting up your glove arm, and doing a little hop on a home run 15 rows out.
  11. This blip keeps hitting me like Grifol was thrown out arguing that Robert was right to not make the throw. Which would be fun, umpires throwing out a manager yelling that "my guy doesn't have to throw out a runner in the bottom of the 9th, tagging up!!!" And the umpires are like, "Sir, this is a Wendy's".
  12. I know lifetime Sox fans who hated Big Frank. Thought he was selfish, and bought into all the bad clubhouse guy BS.
  13. Lookout Landing? That guy went on to write for Fangraphs. (Jeff Sullivan?) Grant Brisbee from McCovey Chronicles was also great. They had a feature area called Breaking Maddon, or something. The writer would make all the players on one team 5'8"/120 lbs, then play them against another team. The game would inevitably break from the scoring. He'd do screen caps?
  14. Yeah, Brett's tried to supplement that. SBN is not a good partner.
  15. The season's over in 4 months. This is his age 24 season. At Birmingham, he'd be about half a year younger than the average pitcher in AA. He's age appropriate for AA. Also, he was only drafted last year. Fast mover.
  16. Milton Bradley seemed to have regular maladies, was ... maturity challenged, and then fell off the table. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bradlmi01.shtml
  17. He was and I agree with you. I really had no deeper point to argue.
  18. And for the "Riley Gowens is too old for A+ ball..." crowd:
  19. And right on cue, MLBTR has an article tracking reliever to starter stories: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/checking-in-on-2024s-reliever-to-rotation-experiments-july-edition.html
  20. This would be a much better feel good story than Clevinger...
