The White Sox 40-man was full, so somebody had to get bumped to roster Yoendrys Gomez. That turned out to be Julks. Because we're on the other side of the TDL, Julks has to be waived. If he passes through waivers, he has the option to refuse an outright assignment and declare for free agency. Martin Perez is still on the 60-day IL, so he is not taking up a roster spot. He will force a DFA somewhere when he's ready in the next week.

Somebody longing for the days when the Sox had one bad utility infield prospect in their minor league system was not on my bingo card.

Gray plays SS, Mead doesn't. Mead was a top 40 prospect, and isn't 25 yet. This seems like a weird bone to pick. Houser was a scrap heap 5th starter. Getz procured a post-hype top 40 infield bat for him. Do you know of any trade rumors for Houser that had us getting a significantly better prospect package?

I think Martin Perez is throwing a side session to determine if he's ready to start in the bigs, again. With Davis Martin, Shane Smith, Burke and Civale, that makes 5ive.

To redirect, it is interesting looking at Monty as a #22 pick, compared to other #22s. I got a bit down on him this spring and thought that if he achieved something along the lines of a couple other #22's, Kolton Wong and Jayson Werth, he'd amass 14-17 bWAR in his 6-7 years of team control. At that time, I thought that would be phenomenal. Expecting him to hit the highs of Craig Biggio (23 bWAR) or Raffy Palmiero (27 bWAR) would mean expecting him to be on track for a Hall-of-Fame career. Chet Lemon also put up around 25 bWAR in his first 6+ seasons. The league's going to adjust to him, he'll have some sort of sophomore slump along the way, but I'm thinking that he looks like his glove and power could buoy him along as an average to moderately above average SS/3B (2-3 bWAR, annually). But if he hits like this, omg.

I don't even think the Sox "fixed" him. He got himself right in the off-season, refined his stuff at AAA and wanted a club to give him Major league starts. Credit the White Sox for keeping him on track and working with him.

For a bunch of those managers, I feel like I can remember some board hate for them (Phil Nevin?). As for any of them, they all become stupid once their team starts losing. And every single criticism of Venable would apply to them (not warming up a reliever at the beginning of every inning, not starting the 9 best players 162 games in a perfectly arranged batting order, etc.). There's really about a small handful of candidates who truly suck. They can't command a clubhouse, or are rage addicted, or have really weird ideas of how to manage a ballgame, pitching staff, or whatnot.

In the 5 games he has started for the Sox, Curtis Mead has gotten on base each game.

2024 and 2025 was the same thing. .474-.497 OPS in April, and .665-.618 OPS in May. That was a contributing factor to two terrible starts for the entire team.

Your list shows them at 18, and B-R.com at 19, just behind the Dodgers. For all the whining about their "dumpster dive" bullpen, weird how the Dodgers seem to be just about as good while spending tons of money on their pitching staff.

Why are Sosa and Robert out?

I wonder if they do Vasil and Alexander in tandem to fill the rotation spot or promote somebody. Yoendrys Gomez seems to have calmed down at AAA.
