I would really like somebody to identify anybody on this site who is "loyal to JR". Donald Trump could buy the team, and I'd probably still watch with the same level in interest.

I was surprised Scholtens made it through the winter on the 40-man. I don't get the Tanner Banks hate. Dude's a solid lefty reliever with an option remaining.

We went through a weekend of me arguing with one of the guys named White Sox, or something, because he called me a "yes-man", which I don't really understand in the context of being a fan of a team.

I don't want to ignore, because you're a very good, informative and engaging writer. (But you know that.) When you start posting gratuitous, inaccurate, angry things, it's like changing TV channels, and seeing something gross, or whatnot. Keep doing it. I don't care. I try to take whatever feedback about how irritating or mean or trollish I get. Do it or don't.
  5. Thanks for pointing that out. You see, I understand quite well that it would be one of the greatest seasons in Nicky Lopez's life if he hit .250/.300/.625. So when I said I hope the .429 hitting Nicky Lopez is the one who comes north, I meant that, instead of the .180 hitting Nicky Lopez. Nicky Lopez is coming north with the team regardless of what he hits in Spring Training. I was just telling a joke that touches upon dreaming of a player staying at the level of a hot 3 game streak.

Of course it will be. I'm not loyal to Jerry Reinsdorf. I'm loyal to me. The guy who likes to watch a baseball team put together the team's roster in Spring Training, and takes interest in the numerous comeback, trade, development and success subplots. I get tired of being told I'm stupid, a sheep, a yes-man or sadly deluded because I don't click the like button on or agree with the 10,000th diatribe that says the same, unimaginative nonsense. Reinsdorf came in and spent like everybody wanted. Then he didn't. A new owner will come in and spend like everybody wants. Then he won't. Because he's a baseball owner.

You seem to feel that the sun coming up is a reason to rip Sox ownership a new one. Unquestioned negativity is as bad as unquestioned loyalty. It's a flip side of the same coin.

Yeah. I feel that Getz's approach is significantly different from the KW/Hahn show. They had 16 winning records in 23 seasons from 1990 to 2012. Is that the same as the Hahn years, or is it different? I don't care if you feel differently, or not. I don't even care if you keep posting the same negative inaccuracies, tying a mild bout of shoulder discomfort to an historic short-coming of the Sox. It's irritating, and it's not Jerry Reinsdorf's fault. I'm not sure what you think you're informing people of that didn't stick the previous 900 times you posted it.
  9. The pitching looks good, only as the written word. I sure hope .429 BA Nicky Lopez is the one who comes north with the team.

The negativity isn't "informing" anybody of anything. It's just irritating, as I think Liptak has interesting things to say, even about this ownership group, the way they conduct themselves in certain situations, and all. To me, stomping on a thread with "the team will never change while Jerry's alive" is more about being resentful that others might be deriving joy from something that died inside the grumps long ago.
  11. Apparently, this is what the kids are listening to, nowadays, but it seems appropriate for Grifol.

Everybody says this, but you cut one middling relief arm, and the crowd wails for weeks.

Actually, I've experienced Mr. Liptak going all the way back to Tribune chat boards on AOL, mid to late 90's. Dude's consistent.
  14. I think back to when the top five was the most recent #1 draft pick, a utility infielder, a bullpen arm, and two pitchers acquired in low level trades that would never go anywhere. It seems like they're doing a good job, even without the trades.

It's not his throwing shoulder. Why do White Sox injuries make you so gleeful?
  16. I also don't know why they don't take and post a 2nd picture of the performance schedule and tell us about it. There's an extra article right there.

I'm not a journalist. Is a writer supposed to get quotes, than lambaste their interviewee for how stupid they sound?
  18. Maybe they're all in their own special competition, trying to be the most nurturing and motivational .
  19. Baseball games are the best way to spend time with my nephew and his kids. Sorry, I won't be boycotting my family just to support a bunch of cranks who hate everything, anyway.
  20. I like all of Getz's moves except Maldonado and don't see the point of Moustakas, but if it keeps Sheets off the team, I'll allow it. Pedro Grifol could just sit in the team bus during games, and I really don't care what he has to say, at this point.
  21. Is there a blog or message board Reinsdorf reads where he might actually see the vitriol?
  22. And if you think that me suggesting that the next step would be to try Thompson as a reliever, then teach him a knuckler is "ripping" on him, you're way more sensitive than I am.
  23. I say that Thompson's lost all prospect momentum, because nobody who evaluates Sox prospects considers Thompson to be an important prospect to pay attention to anymore. Perhaps you can put out your own top 30 so we can marvel. You don't seem to be able to sense when somebody's making a joke. That's too bad.
  24. Who's ripping Thompson? He's lost all prospect momentum, and now he's a project. He's not bad. He's just not standing out from the guys behind him. I'm not alone in that assessment, either, as he has fallen off of pretty much all prospect evaluators' radar. you keep ignoring that. You also seem to ignore that, all things being equal, a left-handed pitcher has a bit more value than a righty due to rarity. You think the Sox have too many, already. I just find it weird that you don't think an organization ever gets to trade a player until there's no possible way any other team can see him as useful. Maybe there were still some fixes they could work with Scott Ruffcorn on. I think they cut bait there, too soon.
