  1. He's catching fly balls off to the left of his chest instead of lining up underneath it in front of his face. I've heard it commented (probably by Beckham) that being an infielder, that's now he sees the ball the best, angling his face some and catching the ball chest high. He seems fine in the field. A couple of mis-reads, needing to take charge and call off other fielders, but beyond that, he seems solid with the glove. I agree with whoever said in the last couple of days, here, that Acuña's still probably trying to make the things work they've changed in his approach. His strikeout rate actually isn't bad. He just either hits everything on the ground, or right at somebody in the OF.
  2. didn't it? They had to trade Sosa to bring up Ant-man, or it all happened in the same flurry of moves.
  3. Why Hill? League average hitter, great defense. Acuña's really the black hole on this team.
  4. Who's 10-18?
  5. If you take away all the tough teams they played, they had an easy schedule.
  6. What are you even talking about. Are you also RubRub?
  7. It's fun to pretend things nobody really said, isn't it Holden?
  8. Here's what actually happens over and over: A bunch of mopes scream about every single move. Smart people wonder why they need the attention over something inconsequential. Move works out or doesn't work out. Mopes take victory lap, regardless, claiming they called it exactly "like it happened". You pretend I said something I didn't, then misgender somebody or claim we should all be embarrassed when a player on the Sox is recognized for doing well.
  9. LOL. You're the guy who screams that getting data to meet a player at a new level doesn't put wins in the MLB team's win column. Or "a couple of scouts and cameras". Maybe go find all your posts that say the opposite and argue with that. I get lost over you saying anything to pretend the next FO move is horrible. This wasn't a bad process. They felt the team was too right-handed, they saw a better defensive catcher on the market, and they acted. Sometimes it doesn't work out. Looks like a cheap, non-catastrophe to me. I'm actually impressed that Getz cuts bait quicker than KW/Hahn used to.
  10. gameday seemed to show it in the right-center gap to the wall. nvm.
  11. following on gameday. I don't know what Colson did there, but he should be on 3rd base. Oh, and it's nice that MLB let the Sox face the 2024 White Sox bullpen.
  12. Even crappy back-up catchers get paychecks under the current players' agreement. It certainly looks like they spent near the minimum on a catcher they had reason to think would be a good, defensive anchor. And anybody who "called" this was screaming about something that wouldn't even exist. LOL.
  13. I think some here have thrown up June for Hays. If both Ant-man and Kelenic are tearing it up by then, who knows what happens.
  14. If that's the case, Chris Getz just declared checkmate in, like, 3 other dimensions.
  15. That oscillation between "JR's too cheap" and "$1m is way too much money" is why SoxTalk exists.
  16. I think Quero might need a reset in Charlotte. I like that Romo and Antonacci had to play their way out of AAA. Schultz too, to an extent.
  17. I can't believe this organization is so stoo-pid that they paid a baseball player slightly more than minimum to play for a month.
  18. He also punched Ventura on the hardest part of his head with his pitching hand, then Ventura finally picked him and body slammed him.
  19. Once the opener's out, I can see them pinch-hitting Beni for Pereira, depending on ... things.
  20. I believe the stats department does most of the lineup cards. They run the numbers for the offense on the starters' pitch types, and all.
  21. Seeing as the White Sox won the first game and they finished the first season in first place, it's fair to say that as far as the American League is concerned, the White Sox invented winning.
  22. OT, but what I was referring to in the game thread was an exercise some scouting departments do. It's a habit to see a black CF, and compare him to Mike Cameron, or Lance Johnson. The exercise is to think of a non-black CF to compare his ceiling to. I was just saying I was guilty of seeing Pereira and comparing him to Avasail Garcia, another Venezuelan RF.
  23. I don't know which of the paper bag, TLR or Hawk emoji I should give. It's kind of a "Hey-ooo..." with a smidge of regret.
