If they keep Periera through the end of the year and off-season, they still have 4 young, controlled, strong OFs. Let's not forget Brooks Baldwin. And Tanner Murray probably could have started to figure out hitting in the bigs in a few more weeks.

And for everybody who has demanded Trevor Richards be DFAed after every pitch, he has a 1.42 ERA in his last 12 appearances.

He's a rookie. I'm pretty sure they can tell him he's earned his spot, but because of normal roster issues, he's got to take one for the team, and go back to AAA. They can assure him he'll be first up in the case of an injury. These guys have all been benched in HS, they've gone through soul-crushing slumps, they been on horrible teams. I can't imagine Gonzo would take the wrong message from a normal roster crunch.

1) Benintendi - he's raking now. 2) Acuña - backs up IF and OF, pinch-runner 3) Perez - best defensive OF on bench 4) Grichuk - mashes lefties Even though I feel steam come out my ears every time somebody wants Benintendi DFAed or traded, he's the purest overlap with Mune. Gonzo can DH, and spell every infield position once every week, or so. However, I think I'd vote for putting Gonzo back in AAA for now. There will always be other injuries.

There was a Cleveland sports talk station on AM that I could get in the evening on the road. Their guy was once complaining that every member of that 90's team, Belle, Ramirez, Lofton, Vizquel, Alomar, Thome - were all going to wind up on the White Sox in free agency. Lo and behold...

While we all would love to see Reid Detmers pitching for the White Sox TODAY, I seriously doubt any team is ready to cut bait at least until the week of July 20th. Even then, there's a good half a dozen teams who will wait until the final weekend before deciding whether they buy or sell.
