Not picking up Canario was actually a great move. There's nothing to "defend". And Canario sitting at the end of Pittsburgh's bench probably demoralizes the Pirates' players, knowing that a player who doesn't deserve major league playing time is taking the roster spot from a player who does, and that makes them sad and lose more.
