  1. Well why didn't you just say that to begin with? Now we believe you. I talked to someone once, and he's pretty trustworthy.
  2. Is 4 years the max you would give Eovaldi if you're the White Sox? Also, do you think the Yankees or Phillies would give him 5 years now that they missed out on Corbin?
  3. Let him start the year at 2B, where he is comfortable now. Hopefully he can get his offensive game going. Then sprinkle in some games at 3B throughout the year, and officially move him later if you have to.
  4. I’m fairly sure nobody would have given us more. If Hahn doesn’t take that deal, we are sitting here today in a worse position.
  5. The statements in bold seem to be a contradiction.
  6. He could be blocking Hamilton, Burr, Burdi, or in a couple years, Johnson. ?
  7. Who are these people that are convinced we will land one of them? The most confident I’ve seen somebody is the guy who just said he is “fairly confident”, and that guy is in the minority. I think most optimistic people feel there’s about a 30/40% chance we sign one of them.
  8. Thanks to you both. Assuming he is legit, does 2022 seem realistic for when he might contribute to the big league club? I do realize he is only 19, and a lot can happen (good or bad) over the next few years.
  9. Where does Bryce Bush start the year, and what does his timeline look like if all goes realistically well?
  10. I’m confused by that question. How could anybody take Option B? I understand wanting to decrease strikeouts, because putting the ball in play MIGHT lead to more productive at-bats, but in this hypothetical scenario, we know that putting the ball in play was not more effective. Give me the .800 OPS all day.
  11. What does Burger’s injury timeline look like right now?
  12. Right, which is why we can all post different opinions and viewpoints, father.
  13. The trade really can’t be evaluated for a few years. If Rutherford pans out, it was a solid trade.
  14. Absolutely. I know this is far fetched, but if we woke up tomorrow to the headline, "White Sox sign Harper to record breaking 10 year, $480 million deal", I would be instantly excited. No part of me would be upset that we spent too much.
  15. In your scenario, why would Harper leave when we are just starting to get good and will probably be even better as our young guys get more experience? Especially when there is so much money potentially left on the table in those middle years of the 10 year deal.
  16. They wouldn't. How about an offer of 10/400 that looks something like this... 45, 40, 40, 55, 50, 40, 50, 30, 25, 25 ...with opt outs after years 3 and 6?
  17. Or you could do 10/400 and structure it in a way where the last 4 or 5 years have a low per year salary. Front load the hell out of it so that you are not completely overpaying for declining years, but still give 400 million so that the player is taking the most overall amount (assuming 400 would be the highest bid).
  18. Have they? I assumed they were batting him lead-off to maximize the amount of at-bats he would get in a rebuilding year. Then when they have an idea of what kind of hitter he is, they will slot him in the proper spot.
  19. It’s also insane how much money Harper would bring back to the Sox in terms of season tickets, jerseys, etc. If I could guarantee we get him for $410 right now, I’d take it in a heartbeat.
  20. I’m sure this has been discussed before, but remind me how Machado’s position factors into all of this. Is he only willing to play SS? Would we want to sign him with the understanding that he’d be playing 3B? Or is all of that still up in the air?
  21. Ding ding ding. We have a winner.
  22. How does the AFL compare to A+ ball in terms of quality of pitching?
