  1. There are stats that show bunting does not increase the odds of scoring 1 running and dramatically lessen the chance of scoring more than 1. We have a manager who gives away outs every time in late inning close games. That is awful. I actually hate when the it works out okay because it convinces fans it was the right choice. Ricky must be criticized every time he does this irregardless of the outcome.
  2. Where is Eloy? They should play him DH is first few games back.
  3. Even though he hasn't been putting up great numbers he still looks much better to me than he did throughout last year.
  4. His velocity is still down but his issues were more than just velocity. Something else was off and whatever it was it is no longer an issue. White Sox fans should know Sale doesn't need to be throwing 95mph+ to get outs.
  5. Ventura was never as bad as Ricky. Ventura was more of a scapegoat for crappy White Sox teams. Any manager who manages losing teams year after year is going to face hostility from the fanbase. Most criticisms about Ventura were hindsight criticisms about bullpen management, the usual complaints managers get. My issue with Ricky is not that the White Sox are losing, it's that he seems to have no idea what the hell he is doing. He can be a fine bench coach but that's it. Once again it calls into question the ownership that they felt the need to unnecessarily gave him an extension prior to this season.
  6. Ricky is constantly putting together stupid lineups but the one area in the line up he never changes is Alonso batting clean up. That is funny.
  7. lol Todd has nothing to do with it. Our hitting has sucked for years.
  8. Moncada never really raked in the minors and Jimenez has barely had a chance to prove himself yet. Raking in the minors is still a great sign because if you can't do it there than you certainly won't do it in the bigs (okay there are a few exceptions to that rule).
  9. How are the people who refuse to alter the timeline on Robert going to handle him raking in AA?
  10. Lopez velocity issues make me think he would be better fit for the bullpen where he could max out for an inning.
  11. The poster said Vizquel has already had players bunt twice early in the game. There is no strategy where that can be considered good unless it was a pitcher batting both times. Fondness for bunts automatically disqualifies a manager as being considered good. We now have stats that show how much it decreases the chance of scoring.
  12. This is the only down side to the White Sox winning games. I want the White Sox to win but I also know that if they are winning Renteria will never be fired.
  13. Clearly based on his recent comments he does not love the bunt.
  14. Okay, just read in another thread that said he criticized the bunt attempt in the 9th and said the team shouldn't be bunting so much. I am all aboard #HireOzzie.
  15. What did Ozzie say post game?
  16. Alex Cora would have been perfect. He speaks Spanish and is very much in tone with todays game.
  17. The only thing that should matter is performance not the amount of at bats he has gotten in the minors. Chris Sale threw 10 innings before being called up the majors, should he have been kept down a year or 2 to pitch more minor league innings?
  18. Rodon is another pitcher who has never seemed to use his velocity to its fullest capabilities. I don't think he even has his elite velocity anymore but even when he did he didn't use upper 90's as he could have. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/what-bartolo-colon-and-chris-sale-have-in-common/ - This article from fangraphs in 2017 shows the top 10 pitchers with the biggest difference in their max velocity and average velocity. The only 3 hard throwing starters the White Sox have had in recent years are on there, Sale, Rodon, and Lopez.
  19. Cease is a hard throwing starter who strikes a ton of guys out. I am actually a bit worried about what Coop may do with him.
  20. Can't believe so many want Eloy at age 22 to be forced into a DH role already. Manny Ramirez and many other offensive superstars had no problems putting up big WAR numbers despite their defense.
  21. And then I'll disagree with you, if he is raking in the upper minor levels bring him up this season.
