Is it possible, looking at how Fields performed with Robinson, who is more of a contested catch guy, that the Bears think he's gonna work better with guys like Pringle and Jones who created separation? I know everyone was clamoring for that big X reciever but maybe that's not Fields game. Poles sat down with Fields and looked over the recievers and they went with Jones.

More than covid, I'm sure there's been a player who's been stuck behind some really good players that end up being really good players themselves. I guess the question with that is why didn't he transfer sooner?
-
Poles and the FO seem to value separation va guys who can just go up and get it. Pringle ranked 2nd in the NFL in separation and Velus was 8n the 100th percentile among all college wide receivers in that stat as well. Mooney is good at creating separation too.
-
Worth noting that Velus was on USC teams with Amon St. Brown, Michael Pittman Jr., and Drake London. The QB position in Tennessee has been an absolute cluster these past 2 years. Last year the Vols had a WR drafted in the 3rd round as well and he only had 400 yards.

Is this real life? I haven't been able to watch the Sox as closely as I would like, so I've stayed out of discussions....But this is still absolutely a team that should be a title contender when everything finally gets put together. Cease, Giolito, and Kopech have all been great so far, and when Lynn comes back, assuming he pitches like he's capable of, that is a world series rotation. The offense is gonna get it going.
-
I mean, obviously. I don't see why he can't do that. It's blatant cherry picking, but you take away the Browns game, which we all know was just the worst called game ever, and he was at 63%.

I love Monty, but if the Bears use Ebnar the same way he was used in college, that's something I'd love to watch on more of a starting basis. Is film is fun to watch. He looks like he runs faster than his 4.46 speed. Maybe that's just from watching Monty for a few years.
-
%I haven't said it yet, and no one else has either, so I'm just gonna say it.... I really like the Ebnar pick too. I know a lot of people like Herbert, but he's not really a threat in the pass game. I'd love to see Ebnar be the back up. He looks like he could be a really good weapon out of the back field. Cohen-esque.

Justin Fields will finally give the Bears a 4000 yard passer. I'm betting the house on it. Mooney- 1300+ Kmet- 800+ Pringle- 750+ RBs- 600+ Backup WRs/TEs- 750+ That's 4300 on a low-end. I don't think that's too wildly unrealistic.

Yeah, I don't expect Jones to ever be a #1 but he certainly can add a ton of value to this team. Watching videos of him at the Senior Bowl dude was just super crisp and there was indeed a ton of talk of him moving into day 2 consideration, so I'm less befuddled by the pick now. If he can be Mecole Hardman I'm OK with that. I basically look at the Chiefs now as the comp. Mooney and Kmet will never be Hill and Kelce, but I do expect a jump from both to where they are both looked at as serious #1 WR and #1 TE. I think the defense will be that much better than the KC teams that a drop off from Hill/Kelce to Mooney/Kmet will be close to a push.....Certainly not saying the Bears will be up there with KC this year, but I don't think the Bears are gonna be THAT bad.

Fingers crossed they already have a deal in place for Brown or Fisher. I don't care for the OG group of free agents left, but I'd like a vet, not named Dozier, added to compete for the spot. Brown-Whitehair-Patrick-?-Jenkins, depending on the RG can be really fucking solid. Still a big believer in Jenkins as a RT, I think he becomes a stud there.
-
Yeah he's got me super intrigued. Give Jones a year behind a Pro Bowler like Duane Brown and build some strength. Robinson gets a year behind Quinn. Let em learn.

Braxton Jones From CBS Sports Grade Analysis Major sleeper OT. Has legitimate Pro Bowl OT traits. Mean streak as a blocker pops on film too. Feet are outstanding. Does need to get a touch stronger. Dominated at small-school level. Love this with Justin Fields in mind. (Chris Trapasso) Strengths: Quick first step with great top-end speed. Good overall athleticism. Controlled into pass protection. Does a good job sealing backside pursuit in zone. Great size. Able to create torque with his lower body. Allows defenders to work away from play side. Well that's encouraging.

Definitely not a sexy draft but I'm willing to give it time before I call the off-season itself not sexy. There is still a ton of quality names out there in free agency that just make too much sense. Namely Duane Brown or Eric Fisher. I'm not a fan of the guard market in free agency so that's the only thing I'm a little disappointed they didn't really address in the draft. I don't know enough about the offensive lineman they drafted and how the project to guard, buy barring a veteran getting released(big possibility) I imagine a big time competition for that last guard spot... My thoughts on the WR are already out there so I'll refrain....I do think they bring back Larry O for the 3T and the defense will be pretty well set.... they brought in a linebacker from KC for a visit who was pretty good that I could see them signing as well.

Edge, Dominique Robinson out of Miami of Ohio. 6'5" 4.7 speed. NFL had him as a 3rd round pick. Big upside. I like it.
-
Bears finally pick.....Braxton Jones OT from a small school. I would have preferred Salyer but Jones was one of the highest rated tackles remaining. 35" arms, sub 5 40.
-
Anddddd they did it again. 3 picks in the 6th now. Still 2 in the 5th.
-
Trade down with one of there 5ths. Picking up an extra 6th. So they now have 2 5s 2 6s and 2 7s.
-
Kinnard goes 3 picks before. Salyer has been a favorite of mine. Gimme him.
-
Tom to the Packers. =(
-
Reallllly hoping for Tom, Salyer or Kinnard. All 3 guys I think are day 1 starting guards.
-
Hearing it was a 2023 6th for 2 7ths this year. Which I like. Its a deep deep draft this year.
-
Over if they land Brown or Fisher which, more than anything in the draft, has been the move that I've been clamoring for for months now.

In trying to make the argument for my DMIAA (Darnell Mooney is an ace) campaign I just saw a few noteworthy things I wanted to throw out there. This is on "Deep balls" which are throws over 15 yards... From Fields: 12/20 (60%) for 310 yards (15.5 yards/attempt) From Dalton/Foles: 5/18 (28%) for 137 yards (7.6 yards/attempt) Based on this, I would conclude that Mooney’s deep ball “struggles” were QB-driven, and expect that it should not be an issue – and perhaps could even be a strength – moving forward with Justin Fields. Then the writer threw out "Explosive catch" data that said this... Fields: 65 targets, 10 explosive catches, 6.5 targets/explosive catch Dalton/Foles: 74 targets, 4 explosive catches, 18.5 targets/explosive catch When Justin Fields was throwing him the ball, Darnell Mooney was one of the more explosive WRs in the NFL; his 6.5 targets/explosive catch would have ranked 11th of the 33 WRs in this sample. Hopefully that can continue going forward, because the ability to both be a high-volume target and produce explosive plays efficiently would give Mooney immense value. I really think.....especially given their time working out together this off-season(Mooney was living with Fields) that Mooney is gonna have just a monster year with Fields. I expect him to have over 1300 yards and be looked at as a real #1.
-
I absolutely love that. The question will remain whether you coulda got him in the 5th though. That said it very much sounds like they had Fields in mind with that pick. The fact that Poles and Fields sat down and talked about a wide receiver he'd love to throw to reallllly makes me wonder if they talked about Pickens, who again, Fields knows.
