Polls show that Republican men are resisting the vaccine. Fauci appealed to Trump to talk to his followers about getting the vaccine. This macho posturing is getting old. They should remember that Trump got Covid because he was careless. He survived because he got special medical treatment that most don't get. If he hadn't gotten that treatment, he would have died before the election. Time to wise up and stop endangering others as they are endangering themselves.

I won't go into all of my details. I only wanted to relate to the Cooper situation in a personal way. We fans sometimes forget these people are human. Cooper is going through what many do when they face or are forced into retirement. When I retired, I had another profession to pursue. Cooper doesn't have that. So Spring Training is here, the season is only weeks away and Cooper is sitting at home. His dismissal was probably the right thing. The team was moving in another direction in another time. That's why some fans were irritated by the LaRussa hire. It looked like a move backwards when the team was heading forward.

I wasn't aware of the fact that Jerry Reinsdorf now owns the Bears.

I don't know the history of these two, but people do need to be more careful about what they say. Even if it doesn't hurt them professionally, some remarks turn from sarcastic to insulting, or in this case, sexist. And it goes on for a long time, it is bound to get out of hand. I knew guys who liked to kid around with each other, but finally it went too far and began to hurt their friendship. It was too bad because both were decent guys.

Winning within the division has been a problem for the White Sox for a long time. Obviously, they will need to reverse this trend if they are finally going to win the division after 13 years. Getting beaten by everyone including KC has been a nightmare. Forget the rest of the league. They need to win within their own division.

The corporate world is an not a friendly place. I retired from a place after over 22 years. At the 21-year mark, management threatened to fire me. When I left on my own a year later, the organization head refused to acknowledge me in any way and refused to wish me luck as I walked out the door. Wasn't all that pleasant. Fortunately for me, I have other professional pursuits, and I have had a productive retirement. I don't know what Coop has to look forward to if he doesn't have baseball.

I never understood the staying power of Giangreco. Anybody can say something stupid, but he should have known better than to say something like this in this political climate. Maybe he just couldn't help himself. Something tells me he was a pain off camera as well as on. Regardless, I won't miss him.

I don't think the organization really owed anything to Cooper. He had a nice run, probably much longer than most coaches would get. Also, sometimes it is a good thing that people and organizations part ways. It is painful at first, but many times it makes sense to say good-bye and leave it that.

I can't comment on the interview since I didn't hear it. But it always tough to leave an organization after a long time. Many times it is not a good experience. If Cooper feels bad, join the club.

Logically, there's no real reason for him to go after anyone. He had a long run with the team, and everyone knows that baseball jobs are transitional. I have no interest in listening. Then again, I can't remember the last time I listened to the Score.

You may be very right. I am just not looking forward to another tank job. I kind of wonder how Cub fans will feel if 2026 rolls around and it has been 10 years since their last World Series appearance. That would mean three quarters of a century with only one World Series. How's that for a rebuild? How's that for a dynasty? I hope the Sox rebuild really produces something.

Probably would be. I will be getting my second vaccination next week, but I have another medical condition that compromises my immune system. I will not pry into people's privacy. If I get the sense someone is not careful, I will stay away from that person. I am glad fans are being let back in, but I am not in a hurry to go out to the ballpark. Eventually I will, but I will still be careful on my own.

I wonder if this will be the lasting trend in MLB. Tank, rebuild, win. Rinse and do again. Of course, if the winning doesn't happen, the tanking and rebuilding won't go over so well. The Cubs finally did some winning, but their "dynasty" is over. I just hope we see some real winning with the White Sox.

People are burning masks in protest and otherwise throwing fits about wearing a little paper or cloth over their mouth. Asking proof of vaccination will only cause more confrontations. No, I wouldn't want to be one to demand such proof. Don't need the grief from some jerk.

Yes, this team was probably the best in franchise history, and obviously things would have been so different if the 1919 team won like it should have. I've met some Reds fans who say their team was better, but that's bullshit. It is sad. The 1919 club set the Sox back decades, and, in my book, the club still hasn't recovered. But I agree with another poster. The 1994 club had more overall talent than the 2005 squad. I can' t think of 1994 without feeling real pain.

I don't have any idea what MLB is going to do, but I'm not in favor of expansion. Teams have a hard enough time as it is to fill their pitching staffs with good arms without expansion diluting talent further. I also have the feeling that more teams will mean a longer playoff system which I don't support. Finally, if there is any kind of work stoppage, I don't see expansion happening.

I live in Indiana and used to work in Chicago. Every once in a while, I'd the train back and forth. I could always tell if the Cubs played a day game at home because of the drunken Cub fans on the train. Loud and obnoxious and moronic. When it comes to drunks, Cub fans have no right pointing a finger at anyone unless they are talking about their own IQ.

I don't have anything against the Marquee Network because I know nothing about it. I'm not a Cub fan so I couldn't care less about it. My earlier post also has a general theme to it. I remember the in the late '90's how Cub fans flocked to Wrigley. The team was losing, but Sosa was crashing home runs, there were the roof tops and the bars. But then came the debacle of '03 and the utter collapse in the playoffs in '08. Cub fans were finally getting fed up with this joke of a franchise. You would think the '16 World Series would have cured many ills, but it didn't. Cub fans are more bitter than they've ever been. Ricketts thought when his family bought the team that he could stand by the Harry Carey statue with a beer and everything would be fine. All I can say is he was delusional. I would really like to see the White Sox rebuild help bury the Cubs, but I have my doubts about that. Regardless, the cutesy stuff about the Cubs is over.

I agree with this assessment of Ricketts. The Cubs needed to win because the "lovable loser" stuff had run its course. But winning the World Series really didn't to anything for the team. All franchises appeal to the corporate customer because that is just the way it is. But the charm of going to Wrigley Field is fading and the team's fans are already turning on the team. Losing will not be lovable under Ricketts and this latest venture is just an indication of that.

The other owners are old and stopped caring about the team a long time ago. They make their money and basically leave everything to JR.

Optimistic article about Kopech's work ethic and progress this spring. I still think he is a question mark, but if he contributes we all know that will make the Sox a more viable contender. It will be interesting to see how he is doing after logging some innings in.

I agree with this sentiment. I can remember so many seasons when I had no hope since the team was an obvious non-contender. At least in 2021, there is plenty of room for hope. But the club still has questions, and these questions will only be answered as the season progresses. I am looking forward to this year, but an not going to get carried away and assume a World Series is in the immediate future. Yet, all in all, things are good and we can enjoy the season as we watch the team progress, or hopefully not, regress.
