3 yr/ 100 mil would get it done for the Sox if he is sincere about winning. No one else is offering him that much AAV for a true championship contender. He can get 5 years from the Angels and Giants for sure...but that doesn't fit his recent narrative. The problem is going to be if Luba will accept him taking less years (this contract will either propel or stifle her career potential)

If cease really makes the jump heres a question. Do you just keep Lynn for 1 season and sign Bauer for 3 if he will take it? This then assumes that cease and Kopech are legit. You can always offer lynn season by season going forward

Let's put it this way...if you are in game 7 of the ALCS with Aaron Judge up, do you feel more comfortable with Hendriks taking the 9th or Colome? Based on every game thread of the last two seasons it is pretty obvious. The Sox don't have to worry about their bullpen for their long stretch run. That piece of mind cost ... But imo it is only a 1 year overpay.

If Cease is such a simple fix...the stuff is there. And honestly...the need for overspending in FA is basically gone as they have to put faith in Kopech being a long term piece as well. The Lynn trade makes much more sense if they expect results from those two now and going forward. I am skeptical but everything shown here seems reasonable and repeatable. If Lopez gets 2 more MPH on that fastball...long reliever is solved as well for 2021.
