QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) Hope it ends Monday. If they did it to kill off the Mr. McMahon character, fine, but lets get the killer on Monday and move on. I'd love that, but I think their hack soap opera writers have a lot of "dramatic twists and turns" in store for us. Ah well, I need my sleep on Monday nights anyway....

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) Anyone loving Icky Thump as much as I am? I'm not a White Stripes fan (aside from Seven Nations Army), so take that for what it's worth. I've seen a lot of message board posts praising this song, so I decided to really try to give this an open-minded listen. I liked the intro to the song. I thought maybe it was going to steer away from what I consider (from my admittedly limited exposure to them) the "typical" White Stripes sound. But it really didn't, at least not away from the sound of the songs I've heard. I guess the biggest problem I had with Icky Thump was that it never seemed to find a groove. It had a lot of jerky-sounding breaks in the song, which stopped whatever flow the song was picking up. It's not a terrible song, but it's not a song I'd buy (or even download for free from the site I found the mp3 on, as it turns out).

Re-running Stephanie's f***ing horrible promo on SmackDown. What a waste of airtime. PLEASE let this stupid storyline reach its inevitably disappointing and ridiculous conclusion SOON. Edited to include the most important word of that last sentence.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) You don't like anything. I just said I like the Bruins' new uniforms. Reading is a skill, Show!

QUOTE(shipps @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Is there any Chicagoans here that go to the Landmark theatre on Clark St? Just discovered it and I think its great I dont think I want to go back to seeing mainstream movies anymore, independent films are the way to go. Landmark Century, Pipers Alley and Music Box are my favorite theatres. I saw the Sex Pistols and Ramones documentaries at Landmark - nobody else was showing those films. For that reason alone Landmark ranks way up there.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) Metal and Hardcore are really the only two genre's (they sound alike, anyway) that I just can't get into. Some metal is okay, like instrumental stuff. But when the vocalist comes on and screams this deep howl in my ear, I'm just like, "Jab an ice pick in my ear and maybe then it'll sound better." Understandable. It's not for everyone. For me it's about the guitars and the aggression - I basically tune out the vocals, or more specifically I treat the vocals as an instrument and I don't stress them. There are differences between metal and hardcore, though - they can be subtle differences in some cases, and there are bands that crossover, but metal and hardcore are two distinct genres.

I was just wondering if anyone's new style jerseys were going to look good and the Bruins showed theirs and it looks nice.

I read in the paper today that the laws permitting UFC in Illinois flew through the state Congress, and Helmet Hair is expected to sign off on them, so UFC could put on a card in Chicago by December or January.

QUOTE(juddling @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) "The Hagers are trying to figure out how life went off track for their teenage daughter, Windy." Probably started the day they named her Windy!!!! Well, to be fair, "Sunny" as a name has been done to death, so a new weather-related name was needed.

QUOTE(Cali @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) Head Automatica - "Pulling Muscles(From a Shell)" What's this sound like? It seems like an odd choice for a cover.

Crapitals jerseys went from dull, governmental ugly to retro ugly.

"Paris Hilton will be paid an amazing $1.3 million to talk about her time in jail - an absurdly lucrative deal that sparked blue-collar outrage across the city yesterday. NBC will give her $1 million to talk about her time in the pokey, and she'll get another $300,000 for her first print interview and pictures as a sprung cell-ebutard." Blame the retards who give a s*** about some hotel owner's daughter, not the dopey daughter. NBC wouldn't buy the story if they didn't know that lemmings everywhere will tune in to listen to that dips***'s vapid babbling.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) just discovered the Automatic Music Explosion - an UNBELIEVABLE LA band. They're first album hits later this year I think, and the live show......... oh my god. anyway, they're on myspace. Gave 'em a listen, wasn't blown away. But speaking of Oh My God, has anyone here heard them? Local Chicago band - I think they're really good. Heavy, heavy keyboards in place of guitars, plus bass and drums. "Get Steady" is my favorite song by them. They're playing Summerfest on the 4th of July on the Zippo stage, followed by The Last Vegas and Local H. God damn! http://www.ohmygodmusic.com/

Farmer is awful. Sleepy droning monotone. When he gets excited it sounds fake. A Jackson/Singleton radio booth is an interesting idea, but I wonder if they're too similar-sounding. Stone/McDowell would be a fun booth, I think. I'm for it!

Ramirez goes long. 2-0 Cubs. Great.

That didn't take long. 1-0 Cubs on a Soriano HR.
