QUOTE (SI1020 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) A wild man? He's from New York City and has that strong accent. People from Chicago have a strong accent too, especially the way they accentuate the vowels. For all his bravado and the Noo Yawk accent, Coop is extremely thin-skinned and defensive. He'd crack under the daily questioning within a month.

Wasting an Austin return on a Survivor Series match would be very disappointing. I understand the physical limits, but there are ways to work a protected match and have him go over big. He's not Bret Hart, he could still go for one decent match, I'm sure of that. His matches were 75% offense anyway, so you just don't throw him around and it's all good. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Nothing like going from the 2nd round of the draft directly to a line with Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews on the NHL's most-popular franchise. There are worse ways to make a living, for sure. I'm so f'in' ready for Friday night! DROP THE PUCK!!!!

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) No Punk, Cena, Orton, Sheamus, Kelly, Eve and Mason Ryan(why?) from what I gathered. I like their attempt at a fresh angle here, the only thing that is bothering me is that Punk pretty much started this whole thing and it looks like he might finish it on HHH and Cena's side which is ridiculous. I read that they kept them back because they were afraid the crowd would boo them for walking out. If that's the case, that's a REALLY dumb reason. If anything, having top fan favorites (AND Mason Ryan, LOL) walk out would only have helped the story they're trying to tell. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 07:45 AM) espnchijon jon greenberg Blackhawks just extended Stan Bowman's contract through 2016 season. Is this a real contract or an NHL one? I think Stan deserves the extension for the cap dance he did with all the albatross contracts.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:41 AM) I like how all the heels stand out with different images and personalities, but outisde Punk and Cena, the faces are blah. I can't stand Del Rio. I think he is ok in the ring but his promos and facial expressions are just poor and abstract. I fell asleep before the end of Raw but it is fresh to have everyone walk out on HHH and not just heels. I agree, Del Rio is awful outside of the ring. Peculiar how they're pushing a guy who's only good at the part of "sports entertainment" that Vince cares about least. -
I just hate seeing that goof's name associated in any way with the Sox.

Weird and somewhat interesting ending to Raw last night. Most of the roster (no main eventers came out), along with refs and announcers, aired their grievances to H (basically saying it's an unsafe working environment with him in charge) and then walked out, along with the cameramen (a nice touch), leaving Tripsy alone in the ring to play to the crowd (which he couldn't resist, of course). I hate that the entire show has become about The Nose, but at least that was an unusual twist. -
I agree with Omar in that if someone has a good game, especially a reserve, you should find a spot for them the next day to see if they stay hot. And if Ozzie would have found one day a week to rest Morel, Ramirez and Beckham, that's three days Omar could play and that would be just fine.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) doug buffone and ed obradovich is easily the worst postgame radio in the city. its just two old guys repeating "it wasnt like this back when i played" over and over in various different ways. After a Bears loss, it's the best radio show in the city. It's like two angrier Ron Santos. Absolutely hilarious. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) Stalberg out for 3 weeks Smith is day to day. Q says he is OK but they don't wanna put a timeline on it. Good news on Stalberg, and they should be very careful with Smith. Don't rush him out there after a head shot.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) Elbow to the head in a f***ing preseason game you p****. Mike Babcock's comment after the game was very disappointing. I know you have to try to back your guy, but he basically placed blame on Ben Smith for "toe-dragging" and not protecting his head. Bulls***, Mike. Would you blame your guy if the situation was reversed? Doubtful.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) Not the mid 80's anymore. He can pass, I'm aware, but his defense is awful, he's too soft to play the middle of the ice, and he won't win faceoffs. It won't last, so I'm not worried, but it's not a good fit. Trying to check the other line's center and help out below the dots would be a nightmare. This is the truth. Playing Kane at C in the preseason is silly. Doing it in the regular season would be asinine.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 02:59 AM) Does that mean you didn't enjoy Glory because the 54th Massachusetts Regiment lost the battle for Fort Wagner? I didn't see Glory....maybe for that reason, maybe not....

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) The Critic lost all his ability to criticize when he admitted he likes both the Redwings and the Blackhawks. First of all, "Red Wings" are two words. And secondly, NOTHING will ever hamper my awesome natural ability to b**** and moan! I do like many things, and the things I like I REALLY like, but there are way more things out there that I don't like. I chose The Critic as my name for just that reason - I knew that I'd be complaining and criticizing a lot more often than I'd be praising or rejoicing. EDIT: And I'll go see Moneyball as soon as a Billy Beane-led team wins some hardware - and an Oscar doesn't count.

QUOTE (onedude @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) without the multiple scenes of no dialogue and characters just staring at each other with no reply...Drive would have probably been a half hour less in length. Add the s***ty music and I would say Drive is perfect at a C- for score. Loved the acting overall, and the tense scenes were really good. I agree with this. It seemed like they were trying to make Drive look and sound like an 80's indie film. My favorite part of the movie was Albert Brooks. The opening scene was very good, and it had a few good moments sprinkled throughout the movie, but I'd never recommend it to anyone.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) Meh they can go places with this. I love Awesome Truth. I agree that it has potential, and if anyone can make it work it's Miz and Truth, but as always I have zero confidence in the WWE writers to deliver on the promise. -

Raw was actually mediocre last night - which is a step up from recent weeks - but instead of giving The Awesome Truth the tag titles, Tripsy "future endeavored" them. (Not in reality, it's just a storyline firing, but I still disapprove) -

But guys, we have to wait and see where this is going!!!! WWE's writers are incapable of writing interesting storylines. They had a potential gold mine thrown in their laps and they turned it to s*** immediately. Triple H as the storyline figurehead is infinitely worse than VKM. -
QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) I guess my point wasn't so much that the music nowadays isn't good, because there certainly is plenty of good music if you're willing to work. However, the lack of creativity nowadays is just damn depressing. Even the good stuff nowadays lacks a unique sound that separates it from its peers. It's been a long, long time since I've heard a band with a truly unique sound. I can agree with that point to a large degree. It gets tougher as time goes on to create something truly original without stepping way outside the established templates of music, and when someone does step outside those templates, it's often not received well because it's outside of people's comfort zones. Personally, I'm okay with someone "painting within the established lines" if the energy and the melody is there. I don't need them to reinvent the wheel, I just need to like the wheel they've made. A few unique twists and turns are nice, but not necessary, at least for me.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Axelrod's warmup music needs to be Axel F. Or Bob Dylan, Guns N Roses and The Faces, just to see if anyone noticed.
