  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) If he was rehabbing from alcohol though, that would likely have totally interfered with stepped up workouts and really inhibited his body from responding to them. Again, he could be almost super-human in what his body can take, I can't rule that out, but the alcohol and rehab would have really impacted workouts. You're taking in a lot of calories, getting no protein, and dramatically affecting your body's overall balance when you drink, and if you're to the point you need rehab for the drinking, your body is struggling mightily to keep up with just the alcohol. Worst case scenario...you could hypothesize a person going to therapy for something like binge-drinking, but not a full detox. Thanks, that was exactly what I was wondering - if one could happen with the other happening. And I CANNOT BELIEVE Bernstein would fashion a bulls*** rumor from whole cloth!!!!
  2. Read this. It will make you happy. http://www.gq.com/sports/profiles/201107/c...w?currentPage=1
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) Steve9347 Steve Harnden @dan_bernstein Kaner is bulked up and looking like he's worked out all summer. Any apologies for the false rehab speculation? Just for sake of conversation, and because I have no way of knowing, isn't it possible Kane could have done both this summer?
  4. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) As for the bad idea to cool the angle. I can see where you're coming from, but at the same time I think you wanna sell the fact that if Punk wins, he's running away with the title. Maybe I wouldn't have him disappear completely but rather him do the ROH thing like you said & not actually appear on "WWE TV" but make it aware he has the title still. After about 6 weeks or so, I would then have Vince bring Cena back to be the superhero & getting the title back for the WWE. As for Punk being face, the reaction he got on Monday shows he can be that "tweener" that SCSA perfected. He's not a face really, but he's awesome enough that you wanna cheer him. I don't want them to overplay it like I feel they did with Nexus, but I think this is a short-term angle so stalling it would kill a lot of its heat. They have to be careful how they pace it, and I feel like this is an easy angle to blow. I worry that Vince is going to want some "WOW Moment" at MITB and will sacrifice the angle for some immediate payoff (like HHH running in or some such crap). When I say I don't want Punk being a face, I mean I don't want them to have him pander to the crowd. The crowd will decide, as Jim Ross loves to say, but I just want them to let Punk be Punk and let the crowd do what they want in response.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) I'm excited for the 2 ladder matches and the two title matches. I'm close enough to get a nice look at Kelly Kelly in person but ugh. And Big Show/Henry? Ugh again. Where is everyone sitting? I'm in Section 110, Row E I'm mildly interested in how they're having Henry make Show look vulnerable. Henry's promos are better than I can ever remember (I know, faint praise) but Show's been over-acting with that trembly angry face thing.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) I wonder what Hawk thinks of gays... Right size, wrong shape....
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) I like the Real World Champ idea for the angle. If Punk re-signs, can he really take time off? He is hot and uber over right now. Don't want to risk him fading out with time out. It would be a BAD idea to cool the angle, IMO. Look how dead and buried the Rock/Cena thing is already. If Punk is staying, he needs to win the title and let Cena take some time off (AND STAY AWAY FOR MORE THAN A WEEK THIS TIME) or steal the belt and defend it in ROH (sending promos to Vince the entire time) while WWE guys invade ROH shows to try to get it back (all conveniently televised for WWE programming, of course). I wouldn't mind the Real World Champ angle, either, and I would like to see a heel Cena - although I don't know how you do that without turning Punk face. I like Punk so much better as a heel, it's way more natural for him.
  8. Another scenario (which I probably should have thought of immediately) came to mind when they said again "if Punk leaves Chicago with the title, Cena is fired". Since Vince calls the belt "the title" Punk can lose, steal the belt and Cena will be "fired". That's so obvious, I feel dumb for it taking so long to come to me.

Add me to the list of people who really enjoyed Horrible Bosses. Juvenile, crude, ridiculous plot, but hilarious. Jason Sudeikis kills me, and Jason Bateman is growing on me. And maybe I'm odd - I don't usually like Jennifer Aniston much at all, but I thought she looked way better in this movie than in anything else I've seen her in. Maybe the vulgar attitude added to her appeal? LOL
  10. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) I can't believe they at least didn't try to get a mis-trial with a hung jury that could've allowed the prosecution to go back and strengthen their case before they re-tried her. They obviously were looking for the quickest way out of there.
  11. At least she won't pretend to look for justice for her victim...oops, I meant to type "daughter"...the way OJ pretended to look for the "real killers". She'll just head back to the club.
  12. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) So, I dont think this is too far fetched... CM Punk beats Cena at MITB MITB is cashed in immediately CM Punk loses to (winner MITB) Cena is then not fired since Punk did not leave with the title And then naturally, Cena wins the title back on Raw the next day If SuperCena is not taking time off to heal some lingering injuries or make another unwatchable movie, I can see Vince doing this...and messing up another opportunity for a good storyline.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) If by new, you mean old. Our entire criminal system is created so that the benefit of the doubt goes to the accused. Could have easily had the standard "preponderance of the evidence" standard. In which case it just had to be more likely true than untrue. I mean "new" as in, I can't think beyond obvious blatant s*** in my face. Dumb people = dumb jury = dumb verdicts. These dopes couldn't add 1 + 1.
  14. It's the new America. If there's no video and no confession, there's no conviction.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Is RoH on TV anymore? I don't see that angle getting over. It has it's audience but not nearly as popular as ECW was when they did that. ROH has a syndicated show coming up in September. The way I'd do the angle wouldn't showcase ROH as a whole, but would have WWE guys run in on Punk's "WWE title defenses" in ROH, with The E showing fan-cam videos of the attempts by WWE guys to steal the belt back for Vince. I think it could work, but it wouldn't work without ROH's involvement. Using former ROH guys in the E without using ROH would be ridiculous.
  16. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) idk where my brother heard it but he said theyre gonna work the same angle they did with RVD when RVD won the belt and defended it in ECW with Punk and ROH and then bring in Tyler Black, Chris Hero, Claudio, Colt Cabana, DAvey Richards, and Roderick Strong to for a new faction...if not just totally combine the 2 organizations...id absolutely love this idea Hard to believe this angle, but I suppose I could see Vince's cash winning out. I don't want ROH to melt into The E because "creative" will f*** it up like they always do and then ROH will be dead. I want ROH to build into a real threat to The E, because TNA sure as hell never will. I hope they do a short-term cross-promotional angle, but ROH needs to stay independent.
  17. Dirty and cowardly is not tough.
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) Should have a minor league pitcher come up and throw nothing but 92 mph fastballs (not BP speed, game speed) right down the middle of the plate to Dunn, and tell Dunn that's what's coming. See if he can hit it when he knows what is coming and where it is going. If he still misses by a foot, get him to an eye doctor. If he can at least crush THOSE pitches, maybe there is hope. It would have to be a right-handed pitcher.

Getting married on the day of a Cubs/Sox game? You're no true fan, sir. ....Congratulations!
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) As predicted. The free agent class is rather weak and teams need to find that salary floor. I think it's best the Blackhawks avoid going after anyone, really. Agreed. Better to try kids at positions of need first and have cash at hand for the trade deadline (or before).

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy is an extremely underplayed and unknown song for how f***ing awesome it is. Thin Lizzy is an extremely underplayed and unknown band for how f***ing awesome they are. They have so many outstanding songs, it's downright criminal that they weren't as big as other bands of their era. They were great at melodic hard rock, they had great ballads, they went almost metal at the end of their run, and they did all of it better than most. .....s***, now I gotta play some Lizzy!!
  22. Absolutely brilliant promo. Everything he said was true, and he was thoroughly entertaining while he said it. Reading the spoilers for next week dampened my enthusiasm quite a bit, though. It feels like they're headed to a rehash of an angle done too many times before.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) I'd have to imagine nothing suits that wake-up time. You, sir, are correct. My wake-up call sucks ass.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) On a Friday or Saturday, I agree. But during the week those don't suit my 2:30 AM wake up call very well.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Yeah, why tip your hand and give someone the advantage in negotiating? But would any agent actually believe that the Hawks would give John Scott significant minutes (other than Scott's agent, maybe)?
