Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
The Critic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) And yet the Chargers have clawed right back to make it a 4 point game. And then the champs pull away. 45-24 now. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) He's no Viktor Stalberg. I just wish Stalberg would turn more of those rushes into flashing red lights. He has the very frustrating habit of skating himself into awful shooting angles and throwing weak shots on goal.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) I still think he's slow 90 percent of the time. I still dont get what Tallon sees in him. It seemed like every once in a while he'd turn the jets on but most of the time he'd coast and be not in any position to pose an offensive threat.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 08:05 AM) Keith being injured doesn't help matters.. I will say though anytime you see Jack Skille skate fast to the right side and fire low quality shots on net, you know it's going to be a good stat night for the goalie. Brings back good ol' memories. Yeah, I don't miss that guy at all. Skating fast does not mean you'll be a quality NHL player.

Since it's the only song on that list that I like, AND it's the only Lynyrd Skynyrd song I like, I vote for That Smell.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) Better hope the Hawks never play Carolina in the playoffs. They obviously won't stand a chance on the road, crazy they haven't won there yet. Just one of those games, move on to the UC Saturday night. Cam Ward owns the Hawks.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 06:25 AM) I hate to see the NL win I am a AL guy. I want the rest of the AL to lose. I'm a White Sox guy.
-
QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 06:23 PM) Hilarious. Saddam was tried, convicted and lawfully hanged and the left cried foul. But Qaddafi was dragged out and summarily executed by a bloodthirsty mob, and the left is claiming victory for Obama's policies. The left and the Democrats are totally OK with war and killing as long as it scores points for their "heroes". Death Pool statement, not political statement. The only political statement I make is I don't trust any of them.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
The Critic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Christmas games seem to be the breaking point for the entire season, right? I've read that the "smart money" says if the Christmas games are cancelled, the entire season might follow soon after. I'm not much of a basketball fan, but the NBA (Bulls and Bucks in particular) is the only basketball I will watch. So no NBA = no basketball at all for me. This is a damn shame for everyone who enjoys the NBA. I know it pissed me off to no end when the NHL killed an entire season, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.....except maybe NASCAR.... -
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Not much else to be said about Kane tonight, brilliant. First glimpse of Carcillo clown style tonight, I knew it'd come eventually I didn't see too much of the game last night, what did Carcillo do?
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) Lindsay Lohan Andy Dick George Bush 1 Fidel Castro Clint Eastwood Gaddafi Muhammad Ali Jimmy Carter Courtney Love Hulk Hogan one check mark for B>W.

That promoter did seem like a douche, and he acted selfishly in putting Hall out there, but he may have done Hall a favor without meaning to. Sometimes having something out there that's so embarrassing can be what it takes for someone to finally see what others see. It's up to Scott to want to live, though. Pretty sad stuff. -
Yeah, I'm also very happy with the Hawks' play thus far. Haven't seen too many Seabrook cough-ups other than one early game. Bolland is the Secret Weapon!

Turns out Vince Russo wrote the screenplay. SPOILER ALERT: The killer becomes the policeman early in the movie, then turns into the killer again, then the cop, then the killer, then teams up with other cops, but turns on them with other killers. The other killers he teams up with are old killers from movies from 20 years ago. Six of the actors had to go to rehab, but were written back into the script afterwards. The actors who were there at the beginning of filming were eventually either written out of the script or given greatly reduced roles. At the very end of the movie, HULK HOGAN appears to save the day (and hog the glory at the press conference after). -
QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 06:10 AM) Except all the reports initially came out of Boston. I don't think the Cubs leaked this. Yeah, but still....
-
Yep, the Cubs got things out of order and have painted themselves into a corner. Should have tried to keep any deal with Theo hush-hush until they could work out compensation. Now they will most likely lose Castro and/or Garza, or embarrass themselves by backing out.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) He'll be announcing like Harry Caray in no time! He's already got the hack part down, he just needs the drunk part.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) Hawk Harrelson should get 50%. He'll get nothing and like it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) i think hall is surprised too He doesn't want to die....but he's not afraid to.... That video from Fall River, MA is kind of shocking. To see how far he's fallen and have it be so public is sad, but it's all self-induced. -

Former WWE and TNA Wrestling talent Travis "Tyson" Tomko, 38, is currently being held in Florida's St Johns County Jail. According to a police report on StAugustine.com, he was arrested this morning on a robbery charge. He was booked at 5:36 a.m. and given inmate number SJSO10MNI015725. No bond is listed. Tomko last performed on a national stage for TNA Wrestling in 2010. He parted ways with the organization in August of that year. -

Plus, they wasted Vince's "big return". Laurinitis could have made the announcement himself (to MUCH bigger heat, IMO) and that way you save Vince for another storyline twist. Ironically, I was enjoying the opening segment until Vince came out. The outsider, rebel "voice of the voiceless" character for Punk does not work as well as a fan favorite. Glad to see Miz and Truth back. Overall, though, another disappointing Raw. -
I'd like the Brewers to win it all, but if they can't I want the Cardinals to.

Mods - Please delete this post if there's a rule against spamming your own stuff on here. Mike (aka RedPinStripes of Sox N Roll infamy) and I have started up a hockey talk podcast on iTunes. It's called the West Side Hockey Podcast, and we'd like to invite everyone to listen to our uninformed opinions on the world of the Blackhawks and the NHL, among other topics. Thanks!

QUOTE (SI1020 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Hey you may be right about him being thin skinned, but I don't believe he comes close to Ozzie in that department. Or vindictiveness. Oh, there's no doubt about that. I was just pointing out that Coop has gotten real pissy about a bunch of stuff during interviews when the subject matter gets a little tougher than ass-kissing or rah-rah stuff.
