  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) big error on overbay....3 runs unearned .....they were playing the pirates after all and the Sox were playing the Indians. that doesn't take the W away. a win's a win - you can only play who you're scheduled to. I think the Cubs will end up being a so-so team, probably 4th in their division, but they took advantage of an opportunity today and stole a win.
  2. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) This year, I'd rather play the Wings, though I'm not saying we'd beat either. Canucks have played the best hockey the entire year, call them chokers or whatever you want, I don't care. Just because it's the Canucks doesn't mean "oh well they can't beat the Hawks" or that they'll in any way be afraid to face them. This Hawks team isn't nearly the same, either. My sentiments exactly. I'd much rather see the Hawks avoid Vancouver in the first round. Again, though, when it's all said and done, I really don't care who they face in the first round because it means they'll be in the playoffs. I can't believe how worried, frustrated and puzzled I've been about a team that's probably going to get 100 or more points. Weird year.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) John Scott says: "He said that? That's fine. He can say what he wants. He's going after some of our littlest guys on our team to start a fight. He's trying to challenge (Fernando) Pisani to a fight. What's that say about him? "He's Mr. Tough Guy and he's trying to challenge Pisani. If I'm in the lineup, he's more than welcome to come chirp at me. I'll kick the (bleep) out of him." LOL Can't fight from the press box, oh useless one.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) you are the ric flair of messageboards. take your saggy boobs and be gone
  5. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) ahh ok I understand now after re-reading.. but going back to that, I am actually fairly confident that Kane is the longest tenured wrestler in WWE right now.. Its funny thinking about Kane.. he was Isaac Yankem and the Fake Diesel.. and then he became Kane and has had prolly a very easy and fullfilling career.. hes never had to have the burden of being the main draw of the company, but at the same time he has always been a "dominant" wrestler.. pretty sweet gig The Chris Bosh of WWE, minus the dominant part.
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) Oh and my car was blocked in the parking lot. They did that to us when I went to see Iron Maiden a couple years ago. They parked us three-deep. Who DOES that??? Of course, the people in front of us, behind us and next to us were some of the last to leave the show. It was awful.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 03:57 AM) I am probably being old fashioned but going into your biggest show of the year, why do the confrontations have to end of Raw with one person getting the upper hand? Miz is the most interesting champ they have had in a long time and they are making him look so weak. I'm afraid that if they make him drop the belt to Cena Sunday, it will cripple his momentum and since the E needs young guys NOW, that would be awful and one of the reasons I am stepping down. I didn't watch Raw (1/2 because I was watching the Hawks, 1/2 because I'm bored of everything having to do with Mania already), but from what I read, it looks like maybe Rock will cost SuperCena the match to extend their feud. From what I've read online, it sure seems like Rock has the itch to wrestle again. I'm tired of him already, though. That first promo was very good, but everything since has become less and less interesting to me. And I agree about Del Rio being stale already. The whole card is a snore in my view.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) Which is why I am preparing my farewell speech. How's that coming along? Make sure to "thank" all the people/companies/storylines that are making you leave. Don't leave anyone out - I want that speech to be so long that they bring up the music to cue you to get off the stage.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) wrestling needs a major storyline or a phenomenal new star to grab people again. I'm 32 and watched wrestling since I was really little. I use to go to the Horizon shows with my Uncle, dad and cousin with British Bulldogs, Heart Foundation, Hulk, Mr. Wonderful, etc... so probably since I was about 7 or 8. Watched it a lot until about HS, then the cartoony era of WWF stopped watching, NWO angle in WCW and ECW got me back into it and I began watching all 3 pretty strongly. Then interest ebbed again. How has everybody's wrestling interest cycle gone? Anyone watch it non-stop for their whole life or have a similar pattern to me where it's on and off again. I know my uncle who is in his mid 60s has followed some form of pro wrestling for basically his whole life. Not like he watches it religiously, but he still is pretty up to date on it. For me, I just didn't connect with some of the new guys E was pushing, there's one I think was horrible. (No need to name him, don't want to start a thread about that and I'm sure there were lame wrestlers I enjoyed who others hated in the past). I've watched pretty regularly since about 1971, but now I find myself turning it off or skipping through so much stuff that I'm wondering why I even bother with it anymore. I even used to get a kick out of the blatantly awful stuff (like the dying days of wCw), but now I'm just bored.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 04:17 AM) still in 8th place, Flames have played 3 more, no need to get worried yet Stars are right there, too, with the same # of games played. I still think the Hawks get in, but there is reason for concern.
  11. A first-round series against Detroit would be preferable to one against Vancouver. A first-round series against ANYONE would be okay by me right now.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I hated that uni, and I still do to this day. I called them the "toothpaste tube" uniforms. They do hold some nostalgia for me, though, because of the '83 Winning Ugly team. I know Rader meant "ugly" for the way the Sox won games, but for me the ugly was in the clothes.
  13. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) Haha. I pretty much hated all six designs too but I very much welcomed a new uniform. I loved the old style lettering on the late '70's uniforms but disliked the collared shirts, though they were unique. I've always liked uniform change. As much as I like the current uniforms I'd like a change, just for the sake of change. I'm just weird that way, probably not a popular opinion. I agree, I'd like a new uniform design, too. What I'd like is either a road uni or an alternate uni featuring the diamond sock on the chest and/or cap.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) My glass is half empty on Dunn. He strikes out about 40% of the time and is barely hitting .200. At least he doesn't clog up the bases. We gave up a lot of money and a #1 draft pick this year. This will go down as one of Kenny's worst moves, I believe. If this post is what you write when your "glass is half-empty" on someone, Heaven help the poor soul who empties your glass altogether.
  15. I hated all six of those designs. I didn't even bother to vote for any of them - I actually preferred the collared shirts to any of those Astros-obsessed monstrosities. I was thrilled when they dropped that uniform, even if the new ones had the Campbell's Soup "C" on the cap.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Because they were playing like crap together all season and we reeled off 8 straight wins when they changed it up? That would be the reason.
  17. WHY DID THEY GO ALL-IN SO SOON?!?!?!
  18. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Winners don't get trophies anymore? My interpretation was trophies ONLY to the winners, not participation trophies for everyone. Which I agree with - when my Pee Wee League team finished 7th out of 8, there was no trophy, nor should there have been. When my Pony League team went undefeated, there was a deserved 1st-place trophy, and it meant something.
  19. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) The band Quicksand. I saw them at Metro back in the day. They were good. They used a LOT of smoke and backlighting.
  20. Even the Rock has been a case of diminishing returns since that first promo.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 07:27 AM) The back story behind this drivel. Wow, that makes it even worse.
  22. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) The good stuff.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD2LRROpph0 its good to see new talent coming up in the industry.. Holy s***. I felt my brain melting and dripping out of my earhole. That is awful, even by Disney Channel "standards". I don't know if that girl is a Disneybot, but she sure seems to be.
  23. A bunch of ants crawled onto the seat of a motorcycle, making it one ICHIro SUZUKI.
  24. I think I'm going to stop watching, too, actually. It's getting harder and harder to find anything worth watching on any of the shows, and I'm getting a little tired of complaining about the same s*** time and time again, only to see the same stale storylines and characters rehashed over and over. I keep saying it's a "down time" for wrestling, but I'm starting to think it's just all been done.
  25. I got some deer-lined jackets for Christmas last year - man, do I love those Buck Coates!!
