QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 16, 2011 -> 10:30 AM) Front END, back END, or book ENDs? I find this post to be irrelevant.
-
Monday. Saturday and Sunday are called the weekEND for a reason.

The Cup winner was a real tricky call to make. I knew the puck was in, I freaked out right away, but the puck doesn't usually disappear into the side padding of the net like that. That made me doubt that it was in, too, even though there was nowhere else the puck could have gone.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Yikes. He's entertaining, but there's no way I could tolerate him over an extended period of time. I'd get sick of the schtick. Isn't the Penguins' guy the same way? Yuck.

John Weideman is probably my favorite right now. I like John Rooney, but I never get to hear him anymore. Not a lot of national guys stand out in a positive way.

From seeing the opening segment of Raw last night and reading the recap of the rest of the show online today, the "New Nexus" seems a lot like the old Straight Edge Society. Not a great start, as far as I'm concerned. -

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) I was with you on that one, but I'd do something else after that that was much more fun. What's that? Ask her if she has any decent-looking friends who aren't annoying as hell? -
I think the main thing we can take away from this is.....BREAK UP TEAM USA!!!!

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Miz vs Morrison was really good tonight. I like Orton but in his short range, Miz is the most interesting champion the WWE has had in awhile. Miz has been great as champ, and I hope Vince sees that and lets him hang onto it for a while. I really don't need an Orton reign any time soon, and Orton doesn't need the title to get over. However, I could do without seeing Alex Riley on my TV ever, but I understand why he's there. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 4, 2011 -> 10:44 AM) Since I don't hit girls I'd have my lil sister beat Palin and Michelle Malkin's asses. Oh, and I'd Ox Baker Heart Punch Dick Cheney. Kudos on the Ox Baker reference, Chet! -

I would grab Rachel Ray by her ankles and swing her like a baseball bat to bludgeon Oprah Winfrey and Mike North. -
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the death of Phil Lynott. He was the bassist and singer of the awesome Thin Lizzy. Lizzy is best known in the US for two, maybe three songs - The Boys Are Back In Town, Jailbreak, and The Cowboy Song. This is a shame, because Lizzy had dozens upon dozens of other great hard rock tunes. This is one of their slower songs, but I love the solo on this one so I'll post it for you guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsIubn5Pp6s

Pleased to see someone else getting the old man jokes for a change.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 11:10 AM) I would wager anything the Packers do not make it to the NFC Championship game, that would take winning 2 on the road and they have struggled all season on the road...the pack are a good team but not good enough for 2 road wins IMO. I'm a Packers fan but I think yesterday was their "playoff win". I'd feel a lot better about their chances if they had any kind of reliable running game. They're a good team, but without Grant and Finley I can't see them winning a road playoff game. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, though.

My resolution is to stop listening to sports talk radio, except for broadcasts of games. Sports talk radio is a heaping pile of garbage, and I need to get it out of my life.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 11:33 AM) It's one of the best battles in sports. The series 2 years ago was nothing short of absolutely epic. Plus, the winter classic is awesome since they have kept it at one game per year. It's not like it's the Favre love fest where the love isn't deserved. I don't like either guy or either team, so I have no interest. And technically, there are two outdoor games this year (the Heritage Classic between the Canadiens and Flames in February).
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Rain's going to wash out this year's "Winter Classic." Okay by me, I don't need to see another Crosby/Ovechkin televised lovefest anyway.

I only like it if they let them destroy everyone in sight for a while. IMO it would weaken Punk and Nexus if the program only lasts a couple PPVs. I'd have Punk win the belt while leading Nexus, have Barrett turn face (seems they want to do this anyway) and eventually Barrett or Cena wins the belt. Maybe at WrestleMania? If done correctly, it can elevate Punk to main event status. If botched, it can hurt him as a solo performer and Nexus as a group. -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I don't think the first one happens, as Oney is an adult and he can tweet whatever he wants. I assume Oney hasn't learned any of this in a dinner conversation, but while being in the clubhouse when he was younger. As far as the team talk, even if it happens we probably won't know about it. Unless Oney tweets about it, of course....

WWE signs Awesome Kong. No immediate word on what she'll be called or which show she'll be on. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 07:01 AM) I read a good article the other day using Bill James' 15 questions in regard to someone getting into the Hall of Fame. Osgood never won a Vezina, was a 4-time All Star over an 18 year career, and was never one of the top players on his team, let alone the top players at his position. He's had a hell of a career, but I don't see him making the HoF. He benefited a ton from great teams and great defenses. Only 3 goalies have made it since 1992, Billy Smith, Grant Fuhr and Patrick Roy. Brodeur and Hasek will undoubtedly be in soon. But guys like CuJo and Osgood....I dunno. I really hate the Stanley Cup argument too. I kinda compare it to the NBA and the NFL. Adam Morrison has 2 rings in the NBA, Karl Malone has none. I understand the Morrison/Malone comparison, and I agree for any position other than goaltender. Goaltenders often are the deciding factor on whether a team wins the Cup or not. Osgood was the main goalie for two of the three Cup winners he was involved in, so that carries weight in my mind.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) Thoughts: Is Chris Osgood a Hall of Famer? Of course, every f***ing person I know in Michigan says he is. It's funny, my immediate response was "no", but then I went and looked at his numbers and I'd say he's probably in. 400+ wins, 2.49 GAA, 50 shutouts, then you add in the three Stanley Cups and I think he makes it. But from the "eye test", he always seemed like a really good goalie, but not a Hall of Famer to me.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Welcome to January Should be a slow month... I pine for April!! Cut down on your pining time and just pine for February instead - pitchers and catchers report in mid-February, and then Opening Day seems that much closer!!!
