  1. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) Awesome. Glad you go to see it, it's a really great show. I missed it this time around, but I've seen it twice before, so I don't feel too bad about it. Really amazing to see how well they duplicate Frank's sound. On a somewhat related note: Why does new music completely blow? Don't get me wrong, I like a handful of newer bands, but it's really, really rare that I'll listen to a new group and find a unique sound. A large percent of the music that's on the radio nowadays makes it seem like everyone has decided to retread the same sound album after album, song after song. I get that people like pop music, but jesus christ how about an original thought for once? My feeling is that there's as much "good music" and as much "crappy music" as there's ever been. I just think that there may be too much music and too many ways to access it. It makes it harder to find the stuff that will grab you, but if you're willing to search it's still out there. As far as the record industry and related media are concerned, they will always market to the audience most likely to spend their cash, and that audience gets younger and younger all the time.
  2. The Awesome Truth have been the main thing I look for when I flip over to Raw. I can't watch an entire episode anymore. I hope Miz and Truth win the tag BELTS (I see Bret said the dirty word last night) and have a nice long title run. They've been great together.
  3. White Sox Baseball: We Drew Air On The Flop (the flop, of course, being 2011)
  4. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) Hawks acquired Jonathan Toews younger brother, David, from the Islanders in exchange for a player to be named later. Dennis Hull 2.0
  5. It's truly going to be ROCKTOBER for me! October 1st, Bob Mould (book reading and acoustic performance) October 8th, The Last Vegas (D Generation apparently cancelled....bummer) October 15th, Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel Going to try to hit the Double Door Halloween show this year, too. Good times!!
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Nipple H better not win. I don't even care who wins. All the fun of Punk's earlier promo is gone IMO. The whole Punk/H/Nash angle just bores me. Seeing Triple Haytch open both shows every week bores me. Everything Nash says and does bores me. Even Punk's promos are starting to bore me. "Are your balls in your wife's purse", listing Nash's nicknames, it's just not grabbing me. Putting Punk in a program with either one of them would have been bad enough, but BOTH of them?? AND Johnny Ace??? UGH. BTW, if you want to see some real quality promo work, YouTube any of Johnny Ace's promos. Wow.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) I can see HHH winning and the internet exploding in anger. Or in boredom.
  8. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) I'll watch. Have Monday off, why not? Same here. I don't get to watch many Sunday night games, so I'll check it out. Buerhle's throwing, so that's a plus. And JoshPR, I'm going to have a couple beers while I watch, cuz I can multi-task like that!
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) This weekend in Detroit! Let us bow our heads in prayer and ask for divine guidance as we smite those Tigers. I know people will say God doesn't take sides in a sports event, but this is the SOX for crying our loud There is no God.... ....or He was too busy guiding Notre Dame to victory....
  10. If Jerry loves the status quo so much, he should learn to love the status quo of a half-empty ballpark.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Sin Cara turns out to be a bust! WWE sources indicate that Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde, the original Sin Cara, was sent home from Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He left the Scotiabank Saddledome before the event’s conclusion. Company sources state that developmental talent Jorge Arias (a/k/a Hunico) will exclusively portray the Sin Cara character going forward. WWE wants to maintain the character since its been very popular among kids and in merchandise sales. Many employees expect Alvirde to part ways with the organization, but it is not 100% confirm. And then they had to re-shoot the match Hunico worked that night as Sin Careless due to botched moves, so the more things change....
  12. Nope. Don't like Primus.
  13. And now those assholes will give him a standing ovation like none of the stupid, pointless, undeserved booing ever happened.
  14. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) Ugh, I cant believe that I am ok with Truth right now.. that Truth/Miz segment was pretty damn solid I read that their team name is "The Awesome Truth".
  15. A very interesting read on the troubles of Richard Fleihr: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/689179...stler-real-life
  16. "There’s not a doubt in my mind that I’m not going to win a championship." So Derrick Rose is absolutely sure that he's not going to win a championship. The English language is tricky, kids!
  17. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 09:59 AM)
  18. Matt Hardy busted for DWI in North Carolina and released by TNA right after. He is a huge f***up, but I bet TNA would have been more "supportive" if they had a Matt Hardy DVD coming out soon, like they do for his equally (and maybe even more) f***ed-up brother.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) Nash is better when he is sarcastic and cocky. Not all serious and angry. And Critic, take a shower, hit the weights, and get a clue. LoL Nash is better when it's 1997.
  20. Just watched the Punk/Nash segment from Raw. Good lord, Kevin Nash blows. Not funny, not interesting. Punk should have gotten two paychecks for carrying that segment single-handedly.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Say what you want about HHH, but some of the stuff he is doing behind the scenes has been a positive so far. You can see a bigger emphasis on wrestling in the past month or so. Read he is looking to rebuild tag team division which would be great. If he can revamp FCW and get the hacks with no passion out of there, it would be even better. If he could keep himself off TV and focus on those things, the better I'd like it. I'm already beyond tired of seeing him open both shows.
  22. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) The horrible sequel debate begins and ends with Caddyshack II. It may begin there, but it does not end there. Slap Shot 2 and Major League 3 are every bit as bad as Caddyshack 2. I think Rocky 2 is the only sequel I've ever liked as much as I liked the original.
  23. Booing is a reaction to bad play, not a cause of it.
  24. Maybe they should take a page from their own book and implement "dynamic payment". If you're a player performing so horribly that no one wants to see them (Adam Dunn comes to mind), you get the lowest tier of payment. If you're performing at an All-Star level (see Paul Konerko), you get the highest tier. Then you can assign payment to the rest of the players at pre-determined payment levels in between. Hey, if it works to extort fans who want to see "prime" or "premier" teams, it must be good enough for the players, too.
