  1. In organized ball, I was on the Twins, Red Sox, Pirates, Tigers and Indians. Of course, when I played back in the Dark Ages, we had to buy plain t-shirts with the park's name on them in Pee Wee league and then we had our sponsor on the front of the jerseys from Little League on. so I played on the "maroon Twins", the "red Red Sox" ( yes, that's how the park referred to us ), the Zemsky Bros. Pirates, the Talman Bank Tigers and the McDonald's Indians.
  2. Lou's Papa Joe's ( NOT Papa John's! ) Barracco's
  3. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) he probably had cash obligations with his divorce and all that. do players get paid weekly, monthly, or yearly? Frank thought he got paid weakly....
  4. Well, now that I know they might return fire, I'll think twice about shooting those assholes who are constantly on their cell phones walking into traffic, driving like dumbf***s, yapping at the grocery store, ignoring their kids while jabbering about nothing, and so on.....
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) And... how is that any of the rest of the world's business..? Sweet geezus.. I can not wait to get down to Arizona... UH OH!!! Just when Kenny thought he was safe from That Crazy SoxFest Lady.....
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) I fought it for a while too, but when it's good, it's just good. I agree, but I can also see how someone could REALLY hate them. I think their better songs can rise above the gimmick, but unless a song is really good, the gimmick squashes everything.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) He said that the Sox have no shot at the playoffs? I find that very hard to believe. He said that they lost a lot of the chemistry of the 2005 team and a few key guys (singling out Rowand and Duque). Didn't really say they had NO shot, just that you risk losing what got you there when you make too many changes. I believe the opposite to be true - standing pat rarely works. Changes were necessary and I think the Sox made the right changes.
  8. Man, I can't believe Cristobal Torriente made it. That dude was SO over-rated.
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Link? Or are you being sarcastic? He did say something like that. And that they were "key guys" or something to that effect. No link, though, sorry. Going off memory.
  10. They said that the guy's daughter was crying when he was wheeled out, and it was because she was embarrassed of him. I don't know if the radio guy was trying to be funny, but GOD I hope that's why!!!!
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) The A's come to town May 22. What are the chances Frank is even on the active roster at that point? I think the next time you see Frank at USCF is when his number is retired. .....But he hopped on each foot for the reporters!!!!
  12. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) Not true. I had a hamster die not too long ago, so this is 4. Uh oh.... Do you have two other pets????
  13. I don't think it's "wrong" to do any of the three options, if that's the way you feel. I can understand any of them, although I personally won't boo. I'm leaning towards polite applause for his first at-bat and ambivalence after that. I WILL boo if he homers....
  14. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) Come on Kid, he's not the same person. Frances Poullain left the band in 2005 due to "musical " differences, Richie Edwards now plays the base. The darkness have come in for a lot of stick recently, mainly because the second album doesn't live up to the first in any way. Hope fully they will correct this next time because in my opinion, they are a blast of fresh air in an increasingly dour world. I hope they never take themselves too seriously. And boy do they put on a good show. I think both discs are similar in that there are a few really strong songs and some pretty bad ones. Their good songs are enough to keep me interested, but I really would like to see them lose that falsetto. It detracts from my enjoyment a bit, it's too clownish. But like I said before, maybe I caught them on an off-night, but they were pretty bad when I saw them. They're probably better now that they have a few more songs to choose from and don't have to rely on so much time-wasting and soloing to fill out a headlining set.
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) Nah, they got great hooks and Hawkins has a great voice that he chooses to shoot to hell with falsetto that is terribly weak. But when he isn't doing falsetto, the guy has a cool voice. "Growing On Me" is one of the best songs written in recent memory. Once they get big enough that they will feel safe dropping the gimmick and falsetto jokiness, we will see an amazing band emerge. Give them one more album of this sort, and then we will see what they are really capable of. "Growing On Me" is one of my favorite songs ever. Catchy as hell. I don't know if they'll ever drop the jokey gimmick. It would help them long-term to drop it.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Driving around one time back in High School, I heard "How You Remind Me" on five, yes five, stations at one time. I still can't stand that song. My wife loves Nickelback, and by extension I love Tylenol. They have one song I like, "Never Again".
  17. This is going to make the "Core Of The Core" night a little more interesting....
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) Hey, you had your chance to nominate songs, now BACK THE f*** UP. Couldn't resist.
  19. http://mfile.akamai.com/9139/asf/stream.wm...tJustMev_Hi.asx I can't help it, these guys are kind of a guilty pleasure. They're so much better when Justin Hawkins lays off the Tiny Tim s***. They have a decent sense of humor and I like their sound. That said, they were s*** in concert when I saw them in 2004 with my favorite band, The Wildhearts. Too many costume changes and not enough songs (all they played were the 10 songs off their debut disc). Anyway, enjoy the wedding!
  20. The best thing about TNA's "Team Canada" is their t-shirt that reads: "TN - EH!"
  21. There's nothing "rock" about this finale. so, my vote goes to neither.
  22. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) Boston is definitely something that was overkilled. However, there's not a bad song on that first album. And Sib rocked a mean afro. Oh yes, he did indeed. That afro was Ohio Players-worthy.
  23. I'd say "More Than A Feeling" by Boston qualifies for me as a song that I heard way too much of for a while, and then not at all for a while. I put the CD on the other day and remembered how much I love that song. That whole first Boston disc, for that matter. And the second one. But not much after that.
  24. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Do you honestly feel he would've ridden on the bench as a non-active, if he didn't give a s*** about the team during the playoffs? He didn't have to be here. He was there by choice. Or maybe he just wanted to be part of it/be seen as part of it. I don't doubt that part of him was genuinely happy to take in the WS atmosphere, but as things developed, I have to wonder how much of it was posturing in order to get a new deal. There's no way to really know what his true intentions were at that time, but when you put the "I wouldn't have gone there" stuff into the mix, it sure muddies it up. Would he have gone to the World Series if he knew he wouldn't be back? Who knows? And for what it's worth, I also wish Kenny would have taken the high road and just said something like "we wish Frank the best, as we have all along" and left it at that. But he's human like anyone else, and he probably just had enough of Frank's tweaking. It's unfortunate, but that's life. Everyone's not going to say and do "the right thing" all the time.
