Heard on the radio this morning that Kirby is still in critical condition. Keep fighting, Kirby!

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) It's all in how you look at it. She was gonna be messed up by the guy anyway, probably better off that they didn't last until Prom night, when he would have knocked her up after telling her 'it felt better without the condom.' Entirely possible. In that scenario, she'd have a life on her hands and not a death on her mind. Just a shame that someone that young won't be able to forget that guy forever. Most kids get to move past their dumb young relationships. She won't. That's all I'm saying, I'm not trying to chastise anyone for mocking the way they died. I'm just relaying the way the story made me feel, that's all.

That may all be true, GHC, but the sad fact is that the girlfriend is most likely going to get messed up from this. She might blame herself for the death, such as "what was I not doing that made him look to cheat on me?" or she might have trouble trusting anyone again, which is understandable to me. It really is a sad story, as dumb as the deaths are on the surface.

This is beyond ridiculous. The Cubs have such a reputation for lying about injuries, you can't believe a single word they say. I can see it now: Mark Prior's Right Arm Found Behind A Cactus "We Expect Him To Miss Maybe One Start" - Baker

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) I stopped reading after "2. Tigers". The fact he picked us makes me nervous since he has Detroit 2nd. Detroit has about a 0.0013% chance of finishing higher than 4th this year. I don't know if I agree with this. The Tigers are not THAT far behind Minny, IMO. With someone stepping up to close for them and a few early breaks to build momentum/confidence, I could see Detroit as a solid 3rd place team in the Central.

"Shallowmony". The Onion can still bring it on occasion.

Still looked fairly shaggy, although not as mulletesque as AJ's hair.

I'm in a 9-way split of a season ticket - I wonder if we're getting 18 tickets? Seems that either the front-money man is going or we're drawing straws...

Cubs' reliever Scott Williamson on trading block

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) Williamson and Hairston to Washington for Soriano? That would be a decent deal for Washington, and would bring a butcher with a big bat to Wrigley. -
QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Calm down calm down, lets not fall out. I was thinking of fast food style before the game, pizza sounds great and something better for the evening before, price for this is not an issue, we'll be on holiday after all. I can't think of any style of cuisine we don't enjoy, I was hoping for something away from the tourist trail. For Louisiana Cajun food, try Redfish on State Street. Just off the Magnificent Mile ( the prime touristy shopping area ). It is EXCELLENT. It's also one block away from Harry Caray's Restaurant - but don't let THAT stop you.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) we gonna do the chat again today? Chat would suck without a broadcast, no? "What do YOU think they're doin'?" "I dunno......what do YOU think they're doin'?"

It will be a packed house. You'll have a good time, no doubt!

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) He didn't start with Stern's numbers. He started with a 0.0. And he shot up to a 0.4 - which is about 0.399 higher than he deserves. Honestly, I'd rather listen to Mike Murphy recalling every Cub home run he ever saw in loving detail than listen to Rover again.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) another easy one: Gene Simmons....."of Kiss"..... name as a school teacher, Gene Klein birth name Chiam Witz Although my membership in the Kiss Army has LONG since expired, it's kind of like the Marines - once you're in, you're ALWAYS IN....

My check engine light went on twice in two months last year. It was a faulty gas cap and a sensor. Thank goodness.

That show is dismal. I listened for a few minutes on the day he arrived, and I couldn't stand it. I tried again on Monday, just to see if maybe I had caught a bad day. Either I caught another bad day, or maybe EVERY day is a bad day for that show. I won't listen to him again.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Isn't Johnny B. doing better than Howard Stern ever has done here? I have heard that he is getting unbelievable ratings since he has returned to Chicago. Like a 6.5 share of the 25-50 crowd? That is just unreal. I'm not surprised to hear that Johnny B. is doing well. I enjoy Johnny B. very much. I listen as much as I can. It's a light-hearted show, not anywhere near as paranoid or angry as Stern is. I liked Howard for a while, but I just grew tired of his show.

The cartoon series whose name I use here at Soxtalk. With time to find its niche, it could have become a classic.

QUOTE(jenksd @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) The grade school I attended started a softball team my 8th grade year. We were the Knights and I got ejected from the first game in the first inning of the season for telling the homeplate ump to go f*** himself. I WAS SAFE. Let it go, maaaaaan.... -
Roger's a little high-strung, yes?

Shouldn't that Adam Rich picture be in the "After They Were Stars" thread? That ultrasound could be Adam Rich's "Before They Were Stars" picture... EDIT: D'OH!!!! Kid stole my joke, before I could even make it!!!! YOU BASTARD!!!!

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Kelvim Escobar deserves a playoff share from the Sox, just like Brad Lidge, Dmitri Young, and the umpiring crews. Ah, hell, let's give one to Magglio, too. He'd enjoy a little extra scratch.
