  1. At approximately 6:20 am today, Fox32 News had a small piece on the White Sox "regaining popularity in the city". They basically mentioned how the Sox organization and USCF are fan-friendly, the neighborhood is not scary, and the Sox players and manager are popular and nice guys, while the Cubs have fought with rooftop owners, added seats "to the disadvantage of rooftop owners", scalped their own tickets, raised ticket prices "considerably" and have recently had some players who "came off as jerks". Needless to say, I was more than a little surprised at the tone of this piece! NICE WORK, FOX32!!!!
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Here's the ultimate dimemma. If you are Cub fan sitting in the Wrigley bleachers and catch Bonds record breaking homer, do you throw it back? Of course you do. You're not paying attention to who hit it anyway, and you're too drunk to realize that it was 756 even if you knew it was Bonds. Of course, you can always throw a decoy ball onto the field, that seems to be a new favorite move of the Cubbie faithful.
  3. Congrats, Kap! When the wife had her "regular, normal, no-frills" ultrasound , we were lucky enough to get one really good close-up look at our daughter's face. It was only for a split-second, but she was doing a thumb-sucking motion but with no thumb in her mouth. I thought I imagined it until the Mrs. told me she saw it too. That was such a great moment, I'll never forget how excited we were.
  4. My favorite is the one where half of Nicole Richie mysteriously disappears.
  5. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Who else likes lettuce on their sandwich? Not me, really. MAYBE only on a BLT. I even pull the lettuce off of a Whopper. It just has a funky texture that I'm not crazy about. I'll take MAD tomatoes, though!!! PILE 'EM UP!!!
  6. Also keep your eye on the Swapmeet this year. I'm sure some of us will be posting tickets for sale as the season goes on.
  7. STUNNER!!!! STUNNER!!!! MILOSEVIC IS DOWN!!!! OH MAH GAWD!!!!
  8. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) actually it doesn't...the british people get it , i have to wait until march. Lousy release dates. so you're saying they're Liars?
  9. I'd probably invite Jesus or Moses....
  10. He can buy himself a very nice ring with his Tiger money. It won't be as nice as the ones the Sox will receive on April 4th, though. That's OK, I'm sure the Tigers will win it all really really soon.
  11. What did the drummer get on his IQ test? Drool. LOTS more at this location: http://gimp137.tripod.com/myfun.com/id18.html
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) If you're into that kinda thing... Wow this thread has really gone to carp. No wonder I've decided to join in Hey, I had my daughter on my lap at games for a couple years, I can carry the little fella....as long as he's buyin' the beers....
  13. Didn't we talk about this a while back? Anyway, you can pre-order it for $41.97 at deepdiscountdvd.com.
  14. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) What about midgets and dwarfs? Is the turnstyle flipped for them? As long as they sit on someone's lap, they get in for free.
  15. With the Cubs it's all about pitching health. If Wood and/or Wade Miller give them anything this year, they can win the weak NL Central. The Cardinals have lost most of their middle bullpen, 2nd base is weaker (Junior Spivey and Aaron Miles), and their corner outfield spots are up for grabs. Rolen's health is a question mark, too. The Astros are weaker IMO, and the Brewers are a year or two and a starter or two away. If the Cubs get off to a good start, I can definitely see them contending for the Central. Beyond that, I don't think so.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:13 AM) Drum solos have always seemed kinda out of place in a live band performance setting. They go on for way too long and seem lost on everyone except for other drummers. But they are an excellent way to kill time while the other band members get blowjobs backstage....
  17. Sorry, shoulda linked to his site. He is a member of LazyEye. Pretty typical "modern rock", not terrible but nothing extraordinary. You can hear a ton of their songs on their site. His talents are wasted in that band.
  18. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) Check out "Goddamnit" Yep, Goddamnit is pretty goddamn good.
  19. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=15...1421&pr=goog-sl 12 year old drummer, absolutely phenomenal! to the skills!!! EDIT: Just found out he's now 21, but was 12 when that video was shot. Doesn't change the fact that the guy can f***ing hit the skins!
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) "...Also Pegboy and The Effigies." Geez, why don't you throw in The Beer Nuts and Mr. Blotto too. OMG, do the Beer Nuts and Mr. Blotto suck balls. How DARE you mention those two suck-ass bands in the same thread as Pegboy and the Effigies....you should be ASHAMED ....
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) Duuuuude, Muchacha opened for Local H on V-Day last week at Liars club. That means it's for more than one show, then....
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Definately Maybe is my favorite Oasis record. I enjoyed the early drunk, coke snorting arrogant Oasis a lot. Don't Believe The Truth is a decent comeback. Naked Raygun and The Jesus Lizard are best of the older Chicago stuff. Also Pegboy and The Effigies. A personal favorite, Muchacha, is reforming for at least one show on St. Patrick's Day.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) You could also say that the league wide jump in power totals could be related to the same force which drove palmeiro's numbers. Very true.
  24. Yeah, but look at the MLB totals between those two seasons: AL NL MLB Year 1,776 1,262 3,038 1992 2,074 1,956 4,030 1993 You could make the argument that Palmeiro's jump was indicative of a wider league-wide jump in power. I'M not necessarily making that argument, just saying it could be made.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) Rafael Palmeiro never appeared freakishly large either. There are plenty of steroids out there which can help you add muscle mass but in a limited fashion, that can keep you healthier and make you recover faster from all those bases you steal, maybe help your eyes a bit, etc, and do so without turning you into a ripped giant. Palmeiro's game never changed dramatically either, though. He was always pretty much the same type of player, which is why I was quite surprised when he turned out to be a juicer. I'd be surprised if it ever came out that Bonds juiced in Pittsburgh.
