  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) I think they moved it to Orlando this year. Wouldn't that be South By SouthEast, then??
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) I also make my own cards. Have ever since I was a little kid. I do that a lot, too. Made a Valentine's day one for the kid last night. Haven't spoken to the family yet today*, so I'm sure I'll get her opinion of it when I get home. * The wife and kid went to the movies after school today, seeing Curious George with my daughter's best friend and her mom.
  3. Every day, many times. Wife and daughter both.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 09:42 AM) Forgot all about that! Nice one!
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) If you are a season ticket holder in the UD, you do have access to the lower level (just for those who don't know that). And I actually had the choice between Row 1 in the UD and much further back in the lower deck, and I chose UD. Front row anywhere in the stadium is hard to pass up. We're right above 1B. I'll be about 7 rows behind you.....throwing peanuts at your head....
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 08:38 AM) The 'Dutch oven' is sure to give the evening an international flare. "flare" being the proper spelling in this case, rather than "flair".
  7. Last year there ended up being about 4 bands out of the 60-something that I wanted to see. I'm not crazy about the all-day music fests anyway, so that was fine with me. I think I'll skip it this year, unless there's some reunion that I can't miss. That would NOT be the Pumpkins, I can definitely miss them with no problem. Maybe if the Replacements reform, or (dare to dream) Husker Du, then I'd be there that day for sure.
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) http://www.whitecastle.com/ValentinesDay/ You can thank me later Ooooooooooh, Classy! ".....yes, I'd like the classic Whitey One-Bite, and THE LADY will have the chicken rings.....and to drink, we'd like only the FINEST cola products you can procure, my good man.....nothing but the best for MY lady....." (later that night) "My dear, please accept as a token of my undying love this cubic zirconia gem, mounted on an almost solid plastic ring......"
  9. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) Already drafted him, he plays for Wisconsin right now. Shows how much attention I've been paying, eh?
  10. Borchard calling signals for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers: "ONE SEVENTY FOUR - my 2004 batting average" "ONE NINETY ONE - my lifetime batting average" "FIVE ZERO FOUR - my only highlight" "HUT HUT HIKE!!!!"
  11. This offseason has flown by! Seemed like every time the celebration was dying down, the Sox would do something to stay in the news. Thome trade, Vasquez trade, Mackowiak trade, the Thomas situation ( ), and so on. Now Spring Training is here, and I am VERY excited to see the Sox begin the defense of their World Championship!!!! BRING IT!!!!!!
  12. These are the promo dates I got this year: Ring Day 3 Win-A-Jersey Wednesdays Mullet Night ( :headshake :puke ) 1 Fireworks Night Fan Appreciation Day if you add in one Dollar Dog Thursday and one Half-Price Monday, every game of my 9-game share has some sort of promotion involved. Now THAT's value!!! Not bad at all....could've done without the Mullet Night, though....

    What is this...

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Sadly, that wouldn't actually happen...unlike most metals, like Iron, which react with oxygen to give an oxide phase and energy, gold is actually stable at room conditions. For those who understand what it means, the free energy change of the reaction Au + x O = Au2O3 has a positive free energy of formation...which means you literally need to heat it in order to make it rust. This is why, for example, when gold is found in nature, it is actually found as metallic gold, and not found as an oxide, like aluminum which is found as Bauxite for example. Of course, they might have made the tropies back then out of Iron, at which point none of that would matter. But ours looked nice in gold. Logic and Information are the mortal enemies of comedy. CURSE YOU, Balta1701!!!!
  14. The Hawks won't draft Jack Skille. They don't like "skille" players....

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Shouldn't there be a few attendance trophies in there? How about the numerous awards Kerry Wood has amassed. Most simulated strikeouts, most simulated wins, etc... There are several simulated trophies in there, can'tcha see 'em???? And the 1907 and 1908 trophies turned to dust, that's why you can't see them either...
  16. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) What does it say about the HOME of Rock music when 8 of the 11 (not including the Anglo-american collaberation Cream ) choices are of British groups? Rock on. There have always been tremendous group from England. None except Queen left in THIS competiton, but still.... My favorite band ever, The Wildhearts, are British. Seeing that you are the official Soxtalk British Ambassador, I thank you for them.
  17. LOOK OUT YER WINDOWS, MOTHERFUCERS!!! THAT YELLOW BALL!!! IT'S THE FUCING SUN, FUCERS!!!!
  18. I'd like him to throw an Eephus pitch, maybe a lefty screwball, and that wacky-ass Bugs Bunny pitch that strikes out 3 guys on one pitch.... "StrikeOneStrikeTwoStrikeThreeYerOUT!!! StrikeOneStrikeTwoStrikeThreeYerOUT!!!StrikeOneStrikeTwoStrikeThreeYerOUT!!!!"
  19. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) Is he going to get a ring this year? I would think so. He had 8 saves for the World Champs, and was with the team for more than 1/2 the season. Thanks again, Shingo, and GOOD LUCK back in Japan! GONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG!!!!!
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Was it broadcasted live on TV? I saw it on Cub Lovers TV. And right after it concluded, the anchor told us that "Red Sox tickets....or is it the Cubs?....Red Sox, right?....My producer will get that information for me...." go on sale this Friday at 10am. (bolded for emphasis)
  21. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) i'm doing an informal protest. I'm not really protesting, there just aren't many songs left I want to vote for. Although I know I should - it's my civic duty and all.....
  22. Well, that was quick. It was nice and everything, I guess. I wonder since Bush was publicly OK with Oz being with his family, if that's good enough for Telander?
  23. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060213/ap_on_...ng_bust_gretzky I wonder if the media douchebags who were quick to jump on him for "knowing all about it" will even mention this revelation? Why do I doubt it??
  24. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) If it does end up being a problem, which I agree it could, there is a decent chance it could, there are always middle relief guys on the market come May-July. Like you said, its great having that being your only weakness coming into the season, if you could even call it a weakness. Good point. If we know anything about KW, he will be aggressive to address a need, no matter what point they are at in the season. It's also going to be interesting to see how Ozzie employs McCarthy. If he's going to spot start as some "experts" have indicated, that will limit his availability for a few days afterwards. If he struggles in his spot start, you still burn some middle arms and you also don't have him for a day or two at least. It can become a concern, but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. I'll just assume ( or hope ) that Cliff repeats his tremendous season of 2005 and the starters continue burning up innings like they have been.
  25. Hawks enter the Olympic break by losing to the Ducks 4-1. 44 points on February 12th. Ugh.
