  1. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) ...for years my Wings stuff got more play. I got burnt out on The Beatles though...big time. The Beatles never recorded "Juniors Farm". I'd go with "Jet". No, not the AC/DC riff recyclers, the SONG. And I too got burnt out on the Beatles, although I LOVE "And Your Bird Can Sing" and always will.
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) I'll overreact for ya. If we miss the post season, the future of the franchise is in trouble. You don't really believe THIS Sox team will repeat next year do you? You thought there couldn't be a bigger choke than the Cubs a few years ago? You think people don't come to the park now?....and we've been in 1st all year long!! You think we play second fiddle to the Cubs now? You think we get no love from the local, not to mention the national media now? Stock up on booze and painkillers, it's gonna be a wild two and half weeks. You don't think it would make the Sox "LOVABLE"?
  3. QUOTE(alexgtp @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) It is all up to the SOX. They have to sweep the Indians!! It is in their own hands. But in a way, that's the scariest part of all this. Sox vs. Injuns = 2-game swing each game. I just hope they wake up in time.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Call me crazy, but I woulda bought them and sold them to someone at Sox Talk. Yeah, I suppose, but I didn't want to charge them on my card. I thought about eBaying or Stubhubbing them, too, but I just didn't want to hassle with all that. and Jeff, I was actually HELPING other Sox fans by not buying the tickets, thereby putting them BACK into circulation....
  5. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) or maybe for the fun of it, u shouldnt have been looking for tixs knowing u couldnt buy them, while 100's of others failed at getting tixs altogether...nice job ace get a better computer.
  6. The question is what are you pondering, NOT what George Carlin jokes you like....
  7. and the CS hurts immediately... HAHAHA....DJ says I can't say that, so maybe I'll delete my post.....
  8. I'd say let Jenks work the 8th and if he dominates, then let him start the 9th. If he gets the outs but looks less than awesome, then yeah, bring in Hermanson to start the 9th. This goes for Cotts, Viz, Marte or Pollitte too. If your closer is your "go-to guy", he should be able to come in with runners on if need be.
  9. I tried just for fun and had the chance to buy 2 in sect. 538, row 7 for game one, but I decided a while back that I'd rather watch the playoffs on TV so I didn't order them.
  10. Now I may just have to grab the DVD and give it a spin..... "the answer is none.....none more black....."
  11. Hey, at least I didn't see "potty", "tinkle", "poo-poos" or "number one or two" anywhere on that note!
  12. 4 wins over the white-flagging Tigers. 3 wins over the worst team in the American League. one win over a good Boston team. 3 losses to a good Angels team. 2 losses to the worst team in the American League. That's September, and I don't see the optimism in that record. I hope you're right and I'm wrong, but the main thing the Sox have going for them now is time.
  13. I understand your point, and the only thing that prevents me from agreeing is my lack of confidence in this team's ability to "turn it on". They have looked less-than-great since the All-Star break. YES, they've had some winning streaks since then, but on whole they haven't looked like a sure-fire playoff team. As an aside, do you know who is the best team in the AL since April 22nd? The Cleveland Indians. YES, I know the Sox still hold the AL's best W-L record, but the momentum is squarely in Cleveland's favor. And please spare me the "if I'd have told you in March...." rhetoric, unless you'd also have told me in March that the 5-game lead on September 15th was a 15-game lead in August, AND you also told me in March that the Sox would have the worst August batting average in all of MLB, AND you also told me in March that their closer has a bad back, AND you also told me in March that their late-inning lefty reliever would have a meltdown, etc etc etc. If you're not going to tell me the whole story, don't tell me only the parts you like. The feeling I get is that the Indians might run out of time. But I'm less than excited about the Sox' postseason chances. Call me a "dark cloud", or "not a fan", or whatever else you want to call me, but what I see hasn't been all that impressive for quite some time. I WANT them to turn it around, I'd LOVE to be all wrong about the way I'm feeling, but I can only go by what I've seen lately.
  14. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:38 AM) See, that was my thinking. But she somehow tracked me down, found my *new* school e-mail address, e-mails me and IMs me whenever I'm online. And she's so unhappy I don't want to be like, I don't want to be your friend any more--but she isn't really getting the ignoring hints either. . . Sometimes being blunt is your only choice....unless you want to be best buddies again.....maybe she's one of those people who aren't happy unless they aren't happy, if you know what I mean. Pity Martyrs who spread their unhappiness around for fun.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) That's a Kong to Pierz to Hermanson double play ohhhh, so it's impossible.....
  16. I am currently working on a revolutionary new razor. It's an old-time hockey goalie mask ( the form-fitting plastic one ) with 15,000 blades attached to the inside. Slide the mask on and VOILA!! The closest shave you have ever had!!! Unfortunately, there is one glitch.....when you try to slide the mask OFF, your face is sliced to ribbons. Still working on that one......bear with me.....
  17. ...I have over 20 pounds of M&M's in my lower abdomen....I actually ONLY have a lower abdomen now, my upper abdomen slid down there too....
  18. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) Radio is gonna suck without Rooney sorry simple as that! I half-agree. Let me start by saying that I think Rooney was and still is terrific, and he will be missed. However, there are many sportscasters who could do a credible job as the new Sox play-by-play man. Problem is, the Sox aren't looking for a credible PBP guy, they already handed that slot to the subpar Ed Farmer. Now the task at hand is to find a more-than-credible color analyst to attempt to carry Sleepy Ed to a decent broadcast. THIS is a much more difficult task. Most color guys are there to add a line here and there, and hopefully enhance the listener's knowledge and enjoyment of the broadcast. But all too often, the color person ends up being a former player who may or may not be any good. IMO, Farmer was passable but not exceptional at this role. Torborg would be light years better than North, and he may even be good enough to make Farmer listenable. North would spark a mass exodus from 670, much like he did with their morning audience. Why he is so beloved at that station is beyond me. Expectations are low there, I guess.
  19. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) What do you say to an old "friend" whom you haven't spoken with for years because you've become totally different and clashing people? But who is so completely miserable and lonely that you feel really bad for them? On a related note: I need more emotionally repressed/stoic friends (i.e. men). I wouldn't say anything to them. If you've grown apart, there's no reason to continue or renew a friendship that could never be what it was. Just remember the good times you had and let that person fade away. Trust me on this one.....this is a specialty of mine......
  20. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Take the extra 30 seconds, grab an f'ing dictionary, and use the proper term. /end "/end" is redundant. "/" means end as in "/COLOR" or "/rant".
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) husband --> wife --> Tex, you beat your husband??? Seriously, those "parents" need a cage of their own for a bunch of years.

QUOTE(tony72 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Even if Indians remain hot..we still get wild card (Who wouldn't have grabbed wild card in March?) Would have taken it happily in March. Can't stand the thought of it now. At this point, Wild Card = choke + parachute.
  23. QUOTE(BigNDfan80 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:38 AM) I would never listen to the radio broadcast again is they hire North. Quote fixed to reflect my opinion. Mike North is absolutely unlistenable and has no redeeming qualities. Not funny, not insightful, not interesting. Add North to the Sox broadcasts, subtract me from the listenership. Although I think Farmer on PBP will be dismal, so I probably won't listen anyway.
  24. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Is that a typo? Shouldn't it be around 11,000? 2,200 total pot for a cubs/sox game seems ridiculously low. WHOOPS! Yeah, I meant to say 11,000. So the track and casinos are EVEN HAPPIER!
