  1. In case anyone forgot, Ron Santo is a worthless pile of crap in the broadcast booth, who adds nothing to any description of a baseball game..... .....carry on until the next reminder.....
  2. Agreed. But there's also a TON of good NEW RnR out there, which if given a chance by radio, etc., would have a chance to become "classic rock" for the next generation. Instead the next wave of "classic rock" will feature Nickelback, Creed, Korn and the like.....which will suck as much then as it does now.
  3. No, what we have here is a metal and punk rock fan. Pink Floyd would be the opposite of that. I find them dull and droning. I realize many people like them, and I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with that. To each their own, and as Mike Muir of Suicidal Tendencies once sang, "Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it ain't no good...." FWIW, Herman's Hermits would be as low on the list of bands I like as Pink Floyd would.
  4. Not me, I'll watch until the A's and Cardinals are out of it, maybe the Astros too if they make it. I'm rooting hard for an Oakland vs. St. Louis World Series - that would be great.
  5. Alou STUPIDLY got doubled off 2nd on a flyout to RF and Stone said this: "...and THERE'S a dandy of a baserunning play....and the Cubs are out of the inning..." I guess he just wants to see if the TV is on in the Cub clubhouse...
  6. I didn't expect them to fade at all. The Sox won a few games in a row and a bunch of happy threads popped up about what it would take for the Sox to catch Minny. Isn't going to happen, no way no how.
  7. BRING IT ON! Don't mess with Texas. Stay the course...oh wait, that was Daddy's line.....LINE? did someone say LINE????
  8. Doesn't look like they're gonna fade out anytime soon...
  9. No way, man, I am NOT changing my mind on THIS PLAN!!!!
  10. She has a NICE T'ICK BODY..... ....but 'er face..... Facially, she kinda looks like a guy at my work..... :puke
  11. Who to keep All the good players Who to get rid of All the bad players Who to pick up/Trade pick up more good players, trade away bad players for good players I'm TELLIN' YA, this plan is SO CRAZY that it just might work!!! I oughta be the GM!!!!
  12. EVERYONE was writing the Astros off after the All-Star break, and with good reason, it seemed. Pitchers getting hurt, Bagwell's bat looked REAL slow and they just seemed lethargic and depressed. People were predicting a fire sale, with Kent, Beltran and maybe even Clemens being dealt. Then out of nowhere, BANG! The Stros put a whomping on the Cubs and next thing you know they are ON FIRE and right back in the thick of the wild card race. IMO, the Cubs still have a favorable schedule, but they have to take advantage of it, and so far they haven't. If they're not careful, the Cubs could end up 3rd or even 4TH in the WC race, and what kind of HELL will they catch from all the angry sportswriters nursing broken ankles from jumping off their bandwagon! I for one would love to see Jackass Jay backpedal away from the Dusty Bunch!
  13. He does speed-rap versions of Pink Floyd songs....
  14. One of the best shows I've ever seen. At the horrible House Of Blues, no less. The first time I saw the Brian Setzer Orchestra, I hadn't even heard one song by them yet. I just loved Setzer's guitar sound, especially on his ill-fated "The Knife Feels Like Justice" album, so I figured anything with Setzer involved must be OK. I was blown away by the BSO! He looked to be having the time of his life, and that feeling spread out into the crowd. The second time I saw them, it wasn't quite the same - the playing was still great, but the feeling wasn't. Odd...
  15. http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-twista08.html Lucky he wasn't killed too, since the only person wearing a seat belt was the driver. When will people learn? SEATBELTS!!!!!! WEAR THEM!!!!
  16. Not by me, you wouldn't. I've never been a fan of theirs at all. Completely opposite of the style of music I like.
  17. Six good artists right off the top of my head: The Almighty The Hellacopters The Wildhearts - best band ever, in my humble opinion Therapy? Backyard Babies Butch Walker/Marvelous 3 There are tons more, just as there's always been. RnR has always been around, like Da Kid said, it's just not easily available through the mainstream. You're NEVER going to see any good RnR videos on MTV or VH1, and the "rock press" is always looking for the flavor of the month. I have to rely on "alternative" rock magazines like Amp, Razorcake or Shredding Paper to read about interesting new music. I don't even bother looking for videos anywhere - it's a huge waste of time.
  18. I don't read it, unless I stop by my Mom's house, cuz she subscribes. It's too unwieldy to read, you need to be at a table or something to spread the thing out. I don't care what MLB team they own, or more accurately, their parent company owns.
  19. I've only been to one NFL game in person ( Packers over Bears at Soldier Field ) and that was enough. No interest in ever going to another one. Bored silly.
  20. I don't think staying behind to tend to your family/residence is a stupid decision. I DO think begging for a free victory smells desperate.
  21. I think Diaz and Grilli can fill important roles on future Sox teams. They were asked out of necessity/desperation to fill roles that maybe they're not ready for or capable of. That said, they both have had their moments, although not enough of them to keep the Sox in the race. I think Grilli will be a long reliever/6th or 7th inning guy, and Diaz can maybe be a 5th starter or spot starter. They have potential, they just got rushed a bit this year.
  22. Well, I have never attended a game to watch myself play either, so I GUESS I described myself too....nice one....ZING......
  23. Typical Spankee arrogance. If there was a weather emergency in New York, they'd ask for every MLB game to be called off and rescheduled. ...because as we all know, New York is the center of the universe and anything that happens there is more important than anywhere else... As always, :fyou the Spankees!
  24. For sake of conversation, if they're 4 games out when they meet the Twins then MAYBE they have a shot, because they wouldn't have to sweep both series to tie them. For sake of reality, they're done. Now. Sad but true.
  25. My take is that Valdez is up for his glove, and for the coaches to get a first-hand look at his at-bats so they can figure out what they want him to work on over the winter, whether at winter ball or just on his own/coming into town to work in the cages. It's always better to see for yourself than to go off scouting reports and reputation.
