While I agree with this, I'm still glad Jerry Manuel is gone. He just didn't seem to care. Ozzie, for all his faults, cares a lot, and that's worth something to me. I think he's been okay for a rook, and if he has some learning to do as a manager, at least his growing pains weren't majorly responsible for this year's team falling out of contention. They're a part of the equation, for sure, but losing their two most potent offensive players was MUCH more damaging to this year's team than a rookie manager. I'll still take Oz over Sleepy Jerry anytime.

Since all hope is lost, why not this lineup: SS Valdez CF Rowand 1B Lee ( to see if he can play there if PK is dealt ) DH Konerko LF Gload/Timo 3B Uribe C Davis/Burke RF Borchard 2B Harris See what Valdez can do up top, let Gload and Timo stumble around LF, let PK rest his AILING HIP, give Uribe the rest of the playing time at 3rd and SIT CREDE, and keep Borchard and Harris low in the order where they belong.

C'mon, Eye, that's a little harsh. It sounds to me like they had an understanding that she was gonna be on the pill. If they agreed that would be the measure they took, then it becomes "her job" at that point to remember to take the pill, at least I think so if those are the facts. While it CERTAINLY makes sense to "double up" with a condom and maybe even "triple up" by "getting out of Dodge" , the fact that she used "I forgot" as an excuse would fly a red flag for me.

I LOVED the Ramones. Saw them four times, and own all their albums, most on multiple formats ( vinyl, cassette and CD ). Their studio recordings don't do them justice, though - their live shows were a ton of fun. Fast, catchy and always with a good sense of humor. I miss the Ramones. R.I.P. Joey, DeeDee and Johnny!!! I honestly don't know where that optimism comes from. He has gotten worse at the plate this year - he didn't even have that hot half-year that keeps everyone hopeful about him. He hasn't gotten too many clutch hits, and the majority of the few he HAS gotten were early in the year. Now he's losing focus on defense, which was the only reason to play him if his bat sucks. I see serious regression and I'm not sold on the idea of his turning it back around anymore. I really hope you're right - if the Sox are keeping him around, I'd like him to produce while he's here.

Another thing they had in common was that they both were horrible. Slow as frozen s***, bat has gotten worse and worse, and now his defense blows too - great.

No thanks. I've seen my final game of the season, unfortunately. And I do mean "unfortunately" - they only lost once with me in attendance, and no matter what the final W-L record is, I'm always sad when the baseball season comes to an end - the end of summer and all that, plus I LOVE going to ballgames, especially now that my daughter is into it.

According to AM1000, Chris Chelios has contacted the Wolves about playing for them during the lockout. He was never really a favorite of mine, but I am in the minority on that count. Thoughts? The level of play is not NHL level, granted, but since both teams are at that same approximate level, AND since that level is not EONS below the NHL level ( as would be junior hockey or whatever ) it makes for very enjoyable hockey. The SlackHawks' level of play hasn't exactly been NHL level the past few seasons, either, one playoff fluke year aside....give me the more affordable, more enjoyable, more kid-friendly experience anytime. ( My little girl loved the Wolves game we took her to, she was bored out of her gourd at the SlackHawk game ).

I'll be flipping between the World Cup and the Sox. And no, this series doesn't mean anything at all. Even if the Sox sweep the Twins, the only message that sends is the same September message the Sox send every year - that they can play when nothing is on the line, but when the division title is in the balance, they get owned. I hope they do sweep the Twins all 6 games, just to make it more fun to watch the games.
