They said something on the broadcast tonight about Theo's dad being sick. But still, does anyone here have a job where you can just blow off a day of work and NOT get in trouble over it? You don't count, RPS!!!

The immortal Cam Neely!:metal My fave comedies are Slapshot, Caddyshack, Dumb & Dumber, Happy Gilmore, Major League 1, Ace Ventura, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. I enjoy only the most high-brow, intellectual humor! Happy Gilmour is hilarious. I thought you hated Adam Sandler? With the only exceptions being Happy Gilmore and the "Piece Of s*** Car" song, I HATE Adam Sandler!

FINALLY.............Good news for the NHL!!!
The Critic replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in SLaM
Yes, then you wouldn't have so much high-sticking. Or at least the high-sticking will be more fun to watch!!:metal They should go back to Stanley Cup Champs vs. All-Stars from the rest of the league! -
You know, this is the ONLY thing that could make the pickup of Theo a bad thing! This is WAY too early for this crap!!!!

The difference between Magnuson and Probert is that Probert can still WIN a fight!! Magnuson was the poster boy for "Getting His Ass Whipped"! Honestly, can ANYONE remember Maggy winning a fight? I can't. Really....I can't. I remember seeing film ( back in myyyyyyy dayyyyyy, we saw FILM ) of Gordie Howe laying the Muthafukkin SMACK-DOWN on Maggy! It was brutal! I just KNEW they'd hang onto the Old Guard. Just hope that nobody gets claimed and then turns into something good. That doesn't happen that often with the waiver draft, though...

almost ANY injury is devastating to the Hawks, because they have NO depth at any position. Any word on what the injury is, and if he'll miss any regular season games?

I think what Calgary is thinking is that they need to add weapons to the offense, which McAmmond and Shantz CLEARLY are not. Drury and Yelle will definitely have bigger roles for the Flames than they had for Colorado, and the thinking ( hope? ) is that bigger roles = bigger production. The Flames need offensive help ( 2.45 GFA last year, 2.68 GAA ), so if this works out like they hope, it addresses that need. I think that Calgery got two good players and lost one good player and, regardless of position, I would make a 2-for-1 deal every time, IF you're a team with little depth ( as Calgary is ).

Valentine is a self-promoting jackass - the second he got there, he'd be taking credit for Buerhle, Konerko and Ordonez's success. The guy loves himself more than anything in the world. He makes Mark Grace look humble!!!

Took care of business in game 1, beating Oakland 7-5 after being down 5-1. Temporarily derailing the A's march to the WS?

I REALLY DOUBT THERE'S GOING TO BE A WAR IN IRAQ ANYTIME SOON. THESE PEOPLE AREN'T TOTALLY STUPID. THEY REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TO THEM BACK IN 1991 & THEIR MILITARY IS NOT EVEN A SHELL OF WHAT IT WAS BACK THEN. IN CASE YOU GUYS HAVENT READ THE NEWS LATELY, THEY ARE ALREADY SET TO ALLOW THE INSPECTORS BACK IN. IF WE DO HAVE TO GO IN THERE THOUGH...WELL...HEHEHE ITS GONNA BE QUICK, ONE SIDED, AND VERY DEADLY FOR THE OTHER SIDE. The inspection thing is a little game they're playing, I think. One day they say the inspectors can come in, then th next day there are stipulations. Repeat and repeat again until it's nauseating. I'm not as worried about the actual battle with Iraq as I am about the domino effect it could have. We'd definitely lose trust and relations with more than a few Arab nations, and this type of military action will serve to inspire and mobilize the same type of nutjobs who attacked us before. There's a lot to consider, but something's got to be done. I just think we should try to stabilize our f***ed-up economy before we throw millions more $$$ into battles that could possibly wait.
-
I don't know who they'll protect, but here's who I'd expose: Probert, DeBrusk, Vandenbussche, White, Henderson and Peluso If all six of those guys got claimed, you wouldn't be losing that much. You can find a goon in any bar in Saskatchewan, and none of these guys bring all that much to a team.

Avalanche trades Chris Drury and Stephane Yelle to Flames for Derek Morris, Dean McAmmond and Jeff Shantz. Why couldn't the Hawks have gotten 2 good young players for McAmmond and Shantz??? They could've thrown in a defenseman!! Drury and Yelle are young and talented, and McAmmond and Shantz are no longer that young, and NOT all that talented. Could Derek Morris possibly be good enough to make this trade look good for Colorado???

Yeah, the "big club" was DEFINITELY included in my opinion. Maybe I'm just on Leighton like RPS is on Crede, but I'm tired of the Hawks carrying 2 backup goaltenders and NO #1 guy. PLEASE let Leighton grow up to be a #1 guy. Of course, if he does, he'll just split when it comes time to get #1-guy $$$. They don't pay anyone #1 money in the Blackhawk Organ-I-zation.
-
Leighton, but it won't happen. Too bad, because the Hawks have mediocre goaltending. They used to have quality netminders all through the system, but the cupboard is bare now.
-
You forgot to say "NEXT"!
-
DiPietro has a lot of talent, but just remembering his stint with the Wolves, he's going to have to stop wandering from the net, and control his emotions a little better. He kind of psyched himself out sometimes, too high-strung. I'm hoping this Leighton kid develops imto something, because the Hawks RARELY go outside the Organ-I-zation for starting goaltending, and when they do they end up with Thibault. I like Thibault, but I just don't see a team winning the Stanley Cup with him.
-
Yeah, drinking games like quarters or Bozo Buckets are the arch-enemy of getting laid! If your aim isn't perfect from the start, you're doomed! At least in my case - my aim is s*** to begin with, add a few "pops" to the equation and I couldn't hit a wall from INSIDE the house!
-
Naaaaaah, they're going to need him when they move to Puerto Rico!
-
Look at it this way - after he retires, every time someone closes in on his record, he'll be mentioned on SportsCenter! So WHY NOT get the record? Not intentionally, of course, but he got almost 190 K's without trying, so what's a few more? Nobody's going to be mentioning Royce Clayton on SportsCenter unless he break some laws! He has been making a lot of contact since he got close to the record. Maybe at the start of next season, he should tell himself that he already has 180 K's - that way, he'll concentrate on making contact!
-
I think it's going to hurt the Hawks, just because they don't have huge depth on offense. Even after he returns, they're going to have to be aware of his health - I know guys who've had back surgery and they say that you feel better afterwards, but you don't feel completely right for a long time, if ever. I just wish that Andy Griffith ( Wirtz ) would have let his flunkies address the offense during the off-season.

Upon his arrest, Moss was heard to say, "HEY! How come every defensive back gets to bump ME after 5 yards, but when I bump someone, it's a second-degree felony???" He also tried to blame Dante Culpepper for the incident! ...idiot...
-
Short series, maybe. MAYBE. Best of seven, uh-uh. Can't get through the 2nd or 3rd guy twice...
-
I had about 36,500 posts - can I PLEEEEASE get a second star?????:(
-
Of COURSE he will - he used to play in MILWAUKEE!! "Yoo con poot mee anyware esept Meelwowkee!!!!":D
